Thanks! Texas was better than I thought, but Colorado was just bad. Typical Pac 10 bowl performance.

I hate playing middles but I am very tempted now that Oklahoma is 8.5. I may wait for in-game, but it is extremely rare that you get an 8 point middle in football.

One of the bigger moves in a spread in a week's time that I can remember. Without holdouts i would have likely taken Fla as Trask is a top notch QB and don't think OU's D is intimidating. Timing with the new receivers is the key with little time to work together. Best of luck the rest of the Bowl season!!

Thanks FC. I know, I was loving Florida when that line came out, and I love to bet against Oklahoma, but I have been more hesitant in the bowls to bet well ahead of the game due to the opt outs. Thank goodness I did that here. And I agree with the timing. I was just arguing that with a friend this morning. I am sure Florida has strong backups, but the timing is key. They certainly missed Pitts in the LSU game and I think they will struggle some on offense tonight. I also would not be surprised to see Trask not finish the game. I hate routing for Oklahoma but have to tonight.

Concur w your thoughts. I may play OU 1H as I can get it under a TD and thinking UF's offense may be better in 2H w 30 min together. I may tease OU on a 3 teamer to get the line from a few days ago..lol

Bason....that line movement reminded me of the XFL first time around...back in '01 or so.

My roommate at the time (and still good friend)....I love to hear him tell the story b/c he makes me look like a genius.

They wanted "tough" "smash mouth" football so they went to the old rule that you could jam WR's all the way down the field. It led to super low scores the first few weeks. 10-7....14-6, etc. I told him, they're gonna change this rule eventually.

So I kept teasing the Over's which were ridiculously low but I'd do it early in the week. Sure enough, a couple weeks later, mid-week, they change the rule...and the totals jumped at least 7 points. So I took the same two games and teased the Under's.

I had something like a 15-18 point window to middle and sure enough I hit both bets and had a lot on them. He was new to gambling and never watched a lot of football before we lived together. He kept saying, man you're a freaking genius! So any time that story comes up, I always yield and let him tell it....one of my few shining moments haha.

Good luck tonight. I've got Oklahoma -4 and debating whether to just let it ride or to try and middle it.

I bought Florida up to 10 (1 1/2 points)...gonna try and middle it. These are the games where everyone thinks OU is so easy and Florida backups look like NFL elite. We'll see.

I've got OU -4 and FLA +10 so worst that can happen is I lose some significant juice. But of course I could win both. We shall see. Good luck to us!!

Good luck to you tonight...getting some good old XFL (middle) #s tonight...must bring back old memories. Great story! Double it up tonight.

Thanks man! I can't wait to watch Carolina play Texas A&M. I hate that Williams opted out but I understand. I heard some others did as well but didn't see who. Was Surratt one of them?

I think we've got a chance at playoff next year. It's tough enough to get in but w Clemson now a freaking machine it's even tougher but I think a little bit of improvement on defense and we're right there.

As for my 2nd favorite....love this Irish team but Alabama and Clemson are both on another level. I don't see either semifinal being close but esp that one. Obviously I want ND to win but really just hoping they compete. They've been blown out last 3 times they got close and all I can think about is that massacre back in 2012 season playing Alabama for the title. But I will say, they sure figured out UNC's offense after a couple drives. They brought safeties up and mixed it up sometimes blitzing all 3 guys and Carolina never adjusted. Should be fun. I think Bama -20 is easy money though.

Yes Michael Carter and Javonte Williams (RBs) both opted out. They are pure studs if you watched the Miami game (as opposed to the ND game). Surratt opted out as well as leading wide out with Dyami Brown. Next man up I guess. Heard the aggies sites were saying we were afraid of their D. Please stop! Not even going there. This is a really good ND team but Clemson is just a factory. I was impressed with your physicality vs. my Heels. After the first 2 drives we did nothing. Good luck on Jan 1.

2nd Half??

2nd Half??

Bason,

What are your thoughts on 2H? Anyone else? I think it comes down to if Fla can score first OU will keep scoring. If OU gets in first, they may start to slow down the pace enough to keep it under

Just to clarify...don't let the name fool you...I love Notre Dame.....I f'n ADORE the North Carolina Tar Heels!!

I always thought and told people if situation arose...UNC w 2 or more losses...ND unbeaten and in the hunt for national title....I was sure I'd go for Irish....Nope...couldn't do it. I can't pull against UNC. I proved it a few weeks ago.

Those are some huge losses though. And yes, I've seen most every game and both Carter and Williams both absolute studs and having them both means one is usually fresh all the time. Those WR's are studs too and a little underrated. Brown catches everything. I think is brother is a freshman WR and not nearly as good...not yet anyway.

But like you say...next man up. And as for watching almost every game...such a good year but so close to a great one. Came all the way back against FSU and the non-call blatant PI grabbed and pulled the WR jersey. Then a drop across the middle and then great scramble by Howell and the drop by Williams. He had such a good game and a really tough catch earlier at midfield. Can't blame it all on that one drop of course...just a tough way to lose and not finish the comeback.

The Virginia game...oh man. The couldn't stop that one guy. Came back to make a game of it and then about to get the ball back on 4th and 4. I told my buddy...don't jump offsides and watch the fake. As soon as I said fake they snapped it to that guy...Carolina had him and he reversed field and just barely got the first down to ice the game. Really close to being 9-1 I think. And some of the games...blowout Duke, blowout State, blowout Miami...this team is amazing but I guess a lot are going pro. I was hoping most would come back but I get it. Just wish they'd finish the season and play the bowl game.

I wish I hadn't hedged on Florida. Oh well.

I rarely ever play second halves when I have a winning bet, especially when it is for a decent amount of money and at about 4 different lines! I have learned to be happy with the W and not get greedy.

TJ, I loved betting the XFL!

I have been capping this Bama game for a while and I will post it tomorrow. Wanted to watch the line movement but it is not moving at all. Was trying to find a reason to change my mind, but I will be sticking with my original play.

I will probably also place a small bet on Tulsa because Mike Leach is one of the all-time worst bowl coaches ever (1-9 ATS in his last 10).

I put this in just because I had to:

Tulsa -105

Not a big play, but have to play it simply based on Mike Leach's bowl record, especially now that they are favored.

I have given this game way too much thought, and after all of it, I keep coming back to my initial thought: Alabama should dominate this game.

I have never believed Notre Dame to be an elite team this year. I like their offensive and defensive lines, which is why they were so successful this year, but I have issues with Book at QB. The truth is that if Lawrence played in the first game against Clemson, I certainly believe they would have lost (as evidenced by the ACC Championship game) and would not even be here. Other than that win, they really did not have any other signature wins (no offense to UNC fans!). They had some nice ACC wins but there was not a lot of defense being played in the rest of the ACC this year.

On the flip side, we have one of the best and most well rounded offenses I have seen in many years and one that rivals LSU from last year, which was awesome. How are the Irish going to defend them? If they blitz and try to bring pressure Lawrence, they do not have the defensive backs to cover the Bama receivers one on one. Also, people tend to forget that Lawrence can run the ball. If they only rush 3 or 4, Bama will run the ball or pick them apart with short passes. I just do not think they can stop this Bama offense nor do I believe they can score enough to keep this close. Yes, Bama has some weaknesses on defense but ND does not have the offense to exploit them like Florida did.

The final kicker for me is the fact that Clemson completely dominated Notre Dame in the ACC Championship (which was my largest bet of the year and a game I was waiting for right after the first one), so I see no reason this game will be any different. Notre Dame only had 263 yards of offense while winning the time of
possession and was down 35-3 in the fourth quarter without a turnover. That is domination, so why is this game gong to be different?

Alabama -16.5 -151

Yes, I know this is nuts for some of you (but those that follow me in the soccer forum know I routinely lay this kind of juice and more), but this is where I played it at this morning. I waited for the line to hit 19 and I am buying the points because the back door always scares the hell out of me laying this many points no matter how I feel about the game. I understand some do not like doing this and I would still play it at -19, but this is what makes me comfortable. I also have had a great year so laying the extra juice does not bother me.

I have Bama at Even money to win it all so I will not wager as much as I usually would since I fully expect them to at least win the game. I also am saving a little dry powder for a further line drop.

I want this to be a great game, but I just do not see it. I firmly believe Alabama and Clemson are the two best teams in the country and we will see them play in the final.

Maybe Tulsa should kick it deep again! Jesus, their whole offense is kick returns. Just makes you wonder what their coaches are thinking. Just squib the damn ball in the rain.

Why didn't Tulsa go for 2? in the 2nd half what is the difference between 1 or 2 point difference when you can tie it. It's not like both teams are running up and down the field. Yea...boneheads need to squib kick or just kick it OB!!

I am a firm believer of not chasing points early. Way too many coaches go for two in the wrong situations. You keep it a one score game until the fourth quarter. If you do not get the 2 in the first half you make it a two score game way too early and end up chasing the rest of the game.

Glad I did not bet much on San Jose State. Another game where many missing players was not disclosed. This team did not come to play at all.

I understand the math. This was early 3Q. It was their 2nd score of the game....wasn't sure they get another chance. Things have opened up in the 2nd half but they can't stop MSU so does not really matter at this point. Let's get the Cadets!!

Agree. Awful watching this game. I had Tulsa +1.5. Another tough beat.

Thank God for Army!!

Got exactly what I thought from them and was a huge win for me as I had too many bets out there with them.

Now I can relax and see if we can bring it home tomorrow.
