You have to be careful. If I think it might be legit, I go to my account my own way and not by clicking the links. Don't click links in email is the easiest way.
Yep, you are 100 percent correct
Always avoid clicking links within an e-mail, smart advice, well said.
In my situation I posted above the scammers actually got into the casinos e-mail (which should never happen by the way) and sent out the e-mail from the REAL casino e-mail address (ya know those e-mails you get from Casino players cards for bonuses and free food etc etc). It is extremely rare for a scammer to do that, but they did. Almost every time the scammers will use a fake e-mail address (missing one letter, or using .comm, etc) but this one was from legit e-mail address.
Thankfully I didn't click on the link, but I almost did. I just felt like something was off, thankfully I saw the typo at the bottom with the date of "Promo ends December 1st 2020". Besides that everything in the e-mail looked legit, they even had my Players Card number!
The Casino actually had to put out a Press Release saying they got hacked and that the e-mails were scams. Apparently a ton of people clicked on the link and the Casino is currently being taken to court, turns out that scam worked, and the Casino is literally paying the price for their lack of security.
Gotta give the scammers credit on that one, send out a ton of scam e-mails to gamblers with Player Cards, tell them to click on the link for a free 200 dollar credit on your Players Card, yep that'll do the trick
