95 percent of these phishing scams are super easy to figure out, takes about one second to know it is bullshit. But every now and then you'll see one where the scammers actually do a decent job and ya gotta take about 20 seconds or so to realize it is a scam.

I got one of those e-mail phishing messages in my inbox and the scammers actually ghosted the correct business e-mail address (from a Casino I played at). They wanted you to click the link within the e-mail (ya never want to do that). It was only when I looked at the bottom of the e-mail where the scammers made one tiny error. They "copy and pasted" from a "legit link" but it was an old link, you could see the date from 2020.

So yes, every odd time the scammers actually do a decent job with these phishing scams. But by and large, they are almost always sloppy.

As for the "website phishing" scam Jack posted above, very sneaky with the cyrillic alphabet. Although once you click on that fake link it is usually super easy to figure out the website is fake.

Although sometimes (it is rare but it happens) just clicking on the link will cause your computer to get hacked (spy shit gets attached to your hardware/software), so that ain't good. Of course thankfully that is rare, but it does happen.

There are actually some really good videos on Youtube of "reverse scammers" that fuck over the scammers. These guys are hackers that actually go to these fake websites (like the ones above) and then get on the phone and hack the scammers computers. It some good stuff, there are even some where they hack into the call centre cameras (almost always in India) and in real time they cause total chaos, it is fun to watch.

This guy (and his team) is pretty much the leader when it comes to "scamming the scammers" I have watched maybe 15 of his videos, he does a good job fucking with them.

He has helped thousands of elderly people avoid getting scammed (usually the elderly fall for these type of scams), good on him (y)

You have to be careful. If I think it might be legit, I go to my account my own way and not by clicking the links. Don't click links in email is the easiest way.

Yep, you are 100 percent correct (y)

Always avoid clicking links within an e-mail, smart advice, well said.

In my situation I posted above the scammers actually got into the casinos e-mail (which should never happen by the way) and sent out the e-mail from the REAL casino e-mail address (ya know those e-mails you get from Casino players cards for bonuses and free food etc etc). It is extremely rare for a scammer to do that, but they did. Almost every time the scammers will use a fake e-mail address (missing one letter, or using .comm, etc) but this one was from legit e-mail address.

Thankfully I didn't click on the link, but I almost did. I just felt like something was off, thankfully I saw the typo at the bottom with the date of "Promo ends December 1st 2020". Besides that everything in the e-mail looked legit, they even had my Players Card number!

The Casino actually had to put out a Press Release saying they got hacked and that the e-mails were scams. Apparently a ton of people clicked on the link and the Casino is currently being taken to court, turns out that scam worked, and the Casino is literally paying the price for their lack of security.

Gotta give the scammers credit on that one, send out a ton of scam e-mails to gamblers with Player Cards, tell them to click on the link for a free 200 dollar credit on your Players Card, yep that'll do the trick(y)
