i've come to the conclusion that the nfl needs to change it's PI penalty....immediately.

why teams get rewarded with a 52 yard penalty on a ticky tack call that may or may not have resulted in a catch it ridiculous (and always has been)

change it to a spot foul under 15 yards or a 15 yard penalty on all others with an auto first down either way.......these free yards have become crazy.

It won't work because defenders would make sure a 40+ yard pass wasn't going to be caught. There would be blatant PI penalties.

I'm with Jack on this one. Punishment has to fit the crime. 15 yard penalty to intentionally foul a receiver on a 50+ yard pass play doesn't work.

I understand what you are saying....but I think that the rule should change across the board the way the pros do it...not vice versa

Absolutely. Many times in college a safety who's been beat will run right through a WR who is waiting for the ball to come down.

The solution is for the refs to not call the ticky tack stuff - not move to the college (and other level) system.
