I was thinking of moving at some point down the line. I KNOW this thread has been posted before, but I was curious if anyone had any new ideas. Basically, Pacific northwest is out. Northeast is out, as that's why Id like to move b/c of the weather, and the competitiveness and the day to day grind. No deep midwest either like nebraska, missouri, kansas, south dakota. Basically, comes down to the south (Fl,Georgia,Tennesee,Texas). or the west (vegas, arizona, california). Louisiana, looked nice, but I think its a $shitty state with a lot of problems and is economically depressed. Im training to be an accountant, and also do a lot of capping, so I can pretty much work anywhere. And, need a lot of young people, bars and hot girls. Other than that, it is all fair game, LOL good golf would be nice too and a few decent sports teams. maybe Im asking for a place that doesnt exist, but I will still come back home a few weeks/summer like fletcher does, east coast still great i love the people, its just time for a change. Make your arguments, if you didnt on the thread a while back, or if anything changed, looking fwd to hearing

Its a joek, I remember u said that was the worst city in america. do you know anything about lake worth? have family there, lot of old people there though, nice marina there. St augestine a good choice though. Dont know much about tennesee, and I think alabama is way way too slow for me, Atlanta could be possible, I dont know. Thanks though, need some more answers. Indianapolis not for me I dont think hellah, little too cold. Keep em comin

I'll tell you what, I never wanted anything to do with Texas but it came up in the last year, and I came here from South Dakota in August at age 24 after living in Wisconsin most of my life. I love it here. I live in a pretty nice area near Dallas so obviously there are not-so-good places around here as well, but there is anything you want to do here. Where I live is between Dallas and Ft. Worth, so easy access to both cities. I would have no problem if I were here the rest of my life. And with over 5 million people in the metroplex with multiple colleges (SMU, TCU and U of Dallas to name some), there are obviously a lot of young people, etc.

Dr strange, I have a cousin who does mortgage broker work in naples. EXPENSIVE area, but goregeous, good for professionals, I just dont think I could easily afford a nice place there as of now. Texas keeps being mentioned, Im actually going on vacation to Texas for 2 weeks in december, seeing the alamo, cotton bowls and some rockets, spurs games and other cool stuff, dallas as well and austin, will be there with a rental car so will be nice. I forgot to mention that, and Id love to try and coordinate to meet some fellow MJ'ers for a beer or a ballgame, I will give more details of dates/times if anyone wants to get together, bjfinisite also. Thanks guys, keep em coming

St.augustine is just as nice as naples with out the cost or the snobs, know lake worth very well coached at palm beach cc on congress not a bad place but not the best either would take my first choice you can live right on beach for a good price and tons of young women due to the college and all the chicks from jaxs come to the beach there because it is a lot nicer , great golf courses 15 miles up the road in palm coast, daytona 40 mins away, it is like the key west of north fl chicks booze sex and laid back with low crime and very very very clean. nice white sugar sand beaches.

LOL sign me up fletcher. girls, booze, sex and golf, throw in some handicapping, and what beats it? Maybe work a little too, that might be needed. Lake worth is ok like you said, not great though. Congress I know where that is, right near Jog Rd I think, or lake worth rd I dont remember exactly. No idea what apt's cost there, Im going to look into it. I assume obviously the ones that are cheap and too good to be true probably not in the best areas, but white sugar sand beaches sound good also, and young area, unlike a lot of areas in florida. It wont be the same for me as NY is, nothing compares to the type of people from home, smart, etc but the grind is too much, I need to break away from my old area, etc it just is time. I will certainly look into st augustine, it sounds excellent, and hopefully I will eventually get down there. Naples I doubt, have family there like I said, they are deadbeats and mooch off my cousins "partner" who is very wealthy, and I dont like the pretentious crowd. Thanks, gonna check that out fletcher, appreciate that you help everyone here, hope I can come out to LV and meet you sometime, and goes for MJers when I go to texas this december, would be my pleasure to have a beer with the people on here..

thanks buddy, appreciate it. I just was checking, and saw very little for under 8-900 bucks, I guess nice areas come with a price. but 600 is very reasonable, and Im a young guy, so I think that is reasonable, after all you need to pay a little to get a little. Fod and stuff looks good from what Ive read, just dont know about the quality of life, but Ill take your word for it. Still have a bunch of things to do at home in NY, I just wanna get the process started now, I appreciate the help. Not that familiar with northern fla, only know people in sfla and then naples, but apparently this place much nicer than jacksonville, right near ponte vedra too where Vijay Singh lives expensive area, but anything nice you will pay for. Gonna check that site u mentioned, everyone else, looking forward to other suggestions. Ive been an east coast guy my whole life, so Its going to be an adjustment If I make a move, but this is still the east coast, just down south. hows the weather from november-march? brutal where I am now, thats why Im moving. summer time, come home for a little or else stay. Thanks again, looking fwd to other responses as well

Fletch, maybe it was $600 when you were there, but now, with the ascending real estate prices, it says starting at 750-800 per/mo, and it only talks about buying condos, which i wasnt going to do, cant afford a condo on the beach. I dont mind living a little bit away from it, as long as there are some hot chicks and some sports bars in the area to watch the football giants and my knicks as well. Ill check into it further, I definitely looked at the ocean and racquetball club not the other one, and prices look a little bit out of my league, gonna look further thanks

they rent also it is a college town you go to a realiter and they will get you on the beach for that price most of all the condos and there are tons of them are owned by out of state peole was jus there in nov last year i have a friend living there he is a life guard he is paying 550 the oner is a dr from virginia trust me you can afford to live in st.augustine and live good for under 650 tops you have a reailter find you a place hell all the college kids live on the beach in condos trsut me you are seeing the high end because your on the net then you have your small little beach houses on st augustine beach oldr but cool to lve in they go for like 450 500 not big like a cottage type house but right on the bach, q of life is unral beaches, chicks walking around nice and tan in t-backs. you can afford it i promise you that , it is full of single young people who tend bar and are beach bums housing will not be a problem with cost. it is like a town of relaxed partiers and every week end all the gainsville babes come to the beach, cost will not be a issue, like i said i amthere 4-5 times a year i know what is there and prices, they are going to give you high price on net ,i can name 10 condos you can afford on the beach. check out quail hollow and see what they go for a month they are right on beach peir point south, pelican inlett all of these are below 600

Ok thanks. you're right, the net probably quotes a little high on purpose, once you do some leg work and make some phone calls Im sure I can find cheaper rent as you said, I trust your opinion. Yea, I can afford basically 600 in rent or less, dont want to go higher only because need money for food, utilities, etc, but im going to check back into the other you mentioned, hard to get real accurate prices on the net like you said, I think I'll eventually have to make a bunch of phone calls, and if those don't work then I'll let you know, but Im sure what you're saying is accurate. Yea, I can live where bartenders and beach bums live, that is fine, Exactly why I want to leave is to be in a more relaxed and laid back place, even if the jobs dont pay as well, If the capping wins, and I make some money working I'll be fine. Thanks again fletcher, looking fwd to other responses too, but this seems most logical place so far for my preferences

good luck UTLonghorn. Have Friend who just got a teaching job in West LA actually, still lives w/his father in Marina Del Ray, beautiful place. West LA inland very very hot, but nice, LA just expensive, and I personally dont like the smog and all the traffic and fake people there but its my opinion, Im sure it beats texas. Nonetheless, san diego Id love to go, know someone there, its just mucho cash, so considering what fletcher said, st augustine fl may be the place for me, lata

Not really sure what "training to be an accountant" means, but for myself being a CPA in Alabama, you're probably right. Alabama is probably way way too slow for you.

It must be nice to be able to pick the place where you'll get a job, rather than the job telling you where you'll be.

What the heck, go for it.

What I mean is........I haven't got the formal education to be a cpa. Im going to most likely do lower-level accounting, for $10-15 an hour if I can, and then handicap also on the side, and have some spare $ to get me through, and Im young and single with little overhead. Yes, Alabama is nice, but It's too slow I think, and the bars probably close early, lol but I dont dislike people from there. I want to dictate where to live, because I think I can find some sort of job where I go, and I think I deserve to be happy and be in nice climate with girls, golf, booze around, to enjoy my younger years, why be stuck in a cold place where it is really expensive to live and barely get by? Thats all I meant, my father's a cpa, great skill, can get a job most anywhere
