I asked for $400, Jack. They e-mailed me back, and said they would be sending me $399.99!

I just found that to be odd. I don't need the penny at this time, and may ask for it at a later date..........
...................................................

Maybe they needed a penny to flip with.

This could be the beginning of the end of offshore wagering.

Just my opinion.

In a few years all of this will be gone, and locals will be back in business.

I hope I am wrong.

I just asked for my money from a major player in the business. I asked for all of it, and that isn't a lot. They sent me everything but one cent!

Why would they do that?

To give you old fuks something to whine about :mj07:

I think that might be a little over the top.

I guess I could just ask them! LOL!

i really think you guys are over reacting. what happened with betonsports has nothing to do with the anti gambling bill.

this is a post by an owner of another site...

"MCI has refused to turn off phone lines supplying BoS with telecom services, as have their line carriers.

Customer Service is actively answering the phones, and payouts are being processed.

The site could be back up and operational later today."

Well said. Just got off the phone with a buddy of mine that had all his cash at Infinity and this should bring about an important lesson - no matter what book you are at, never leave it all in one place. I havent moved from Pinnacle or Oly in several years and feel terrible for my buddy and the rest of the folks out there.

One thing I've learned from Pinnacle especially, the less gimics, bonuses, "free half points on odd numbered days in leap years" types of things a book has the better off you are. Nothing scientific, just personal opinion.

The other thing now that I read about how the ads were the undoing - what about PokerStars and PartyPoker? You cant watch 17 seconds of ESPN coverage of anything these days without a pokerstars commercial, same with Party on the discovery channel - although they are careful to use partypoker.net etc and say "This is not a gambling website" Uh huh, sure thing. Or if you have the Directv sports package and flip through the 600 level channels on a Sunday, there are a dozen poker shows on, advertising some poker sites I havent even heard of.

When they advertise on tv, the site will stay Bodog.net or pokerstars.net which are free sites to play poker. Bodog.com & pokerstars.com is where you play for money. Their way of getting around the law and advertise saying here is where you can play for free.

this is correct.

and the bill? even if it does pass, which i highly doubt, it STILL won't shut down offshore sportsbooks.

So Cal
Agree with AR - but what are our elected reps thinking? Close down the internet bet shops and we are right back to operating with locals. People get stiffed from locals, too, and most of them do a fair job of screwing the player on lines. Many of the biggest operations are mob connected - so yeah, let's get that going again and shut down the internet. Somebody must have figured that out. But it looks like they are indicted for illegal activity in US, not sports book per se.

After looking all of this over, I now agree with AR182 and Ferdville.

There was a huge article in my local paper about this and it seems as if these guys from BOS have simply took this thing too far.

If you try and piss in the face of the government, they will piss back at you twice as hard.

If these guys would have just kept quiet in Costa Rica, then they would have been fine.

These guys were going to pro and college football games and setting up advertising trailers in the parking lots.

People could walk right into the trailer and place bets.

In addition, these guys are billboards, radio stations, etc.

They simply took it too far.

I think this is kind of like the Jay Cohen incident a few years back.

If you get too brazen about what you are doing then you are going to pay for it.

It seems as if the government had a hard on for BOS, and not necessarily all offshore books.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out, but I definitely am not as worried as I was when the news first broke.

I just thought of something that I hope never happens.

If the government is not successful in shutting down the books themselves, then maybe they will now start to go after the little guys like us.

They can't go after everyone, but if they start to just randomly nail people, then everyone else might get scared.

As I said, I hope this never happens, but it could possibly work.

If everyone has the fear factor in their minds, this could be enough to stop people.

The only thing is, what would the punishment be?

I don't know.......just a thought.

Well this isn't a good sign ....

Getting "HTTP 404 Not Found" and "Forbidden" messages when I go to the sites now.

Going to go make another phone call but I have a bit of a sickly feeling in my stomach now.

Just called...

Operator was unaware the sites had disappeared. As of right now the suspended operation message is still up at BetOnSports, but the other sites are gone completely. They're still saying they are waiting for the hearings to be over and then they'll have more information.

Ditto as before with AR/Ferd and rest on issue --20 books and not a prob-yet.

PD1==Any reason your not taking issue with the 115 Dems that voted for it?
