I disagree Good coach -great recruiter.- Would agree if it was a couple years but not a decade. With 3 straight bcs games- I can think of alot of big games he won as a dog resume is impressive. He also is clean as a whistle. ARK went after a sec coach- RUN RUN RUN with a great d that can recruit - HE FITS THE BILL-Great HIRE

100% agree with Big Daddy.... BB was a horrible in game coach. It was like the game was too fast for him ... or he thought too slow.....

Big question now is, who can Wisky get? I'd like to see a big name coach, not promoting from withing.

You need a big name for the recruiting trail... and the job is now a lot tougher than it used to be with Mr. Meyer in Columbus Ohio......

I heard Paul Chryst may be a possibility since he was at Wisky before Pitt...I hope it's not him...The last 18 or so years Wis has been very solid overall winning a lot of games..They won 3 Rose Bowls..They were never pounded by the SEC..they held their own in bowl games with anyone in the country including the SEC. They have a program where they can take that next step so a big name is what they must get..They can afford anyone in the country to coach here....Very curious to see how this plays out for sure. Meyer and Ohio St. are gonna be great for awhile now so they need to keep up with them and i know they can if the right coach is hired.

I'll eat my hat if he wasn't asked to leave in some way, shape, or form.

MAYBE THE 3.9 MIL PLUS 450 in extra endorsments had something to do with it -He made 2.6 at wisky. Alverez and Bret are very close. 3 Rose bowls in a row - he was not forced out -but a extra 2mil a year is a good reason to leave

Wisconsin went 40-34-1 against the spread in Bret Bielema?s 7 seasons.

I guess. If you pay a guy enough, he'll sell his soul. Happens all the time, so why not him?

I see a coach who rode Barry's players to victory, and shit the bed with his own.

Shit the bed?? Wisconsin is a good program but not a place where you should expect double digit wins every season. I'm sure it's not easy to get rectruits up there and I think the dude did a great job with what he had.

Who wouldn't leave their current job for a 50-100% raise? If my company couldn't match or get close then I'm gone.

You actually believe that?

He was 28-11 in his first three years and 30-10 in his last three. And Alvarez was 26-12 in his last three years for what its worth.

Sounds like Alvarez was caught off guard with Bret's decision as he commented in a WSJ interview.... he thought Bret would coach the Rose Bowl and be back another season. He left for the $$$$ period.

Rumors on the radio here about possible replacements have Chris Peterson from Boise St. (which I would love), Paul Chryst from Pitt, and Darrell Bevell (former UW QB and NFL qb coach) They are not interested in Dave Doeren from NIU who was def. coordinator at UW in 2010.

Would love to get Petersen from Boise. Do not want Bevell or Chryst...I really believe they need a big name to take that next step. They can afford it so hope they go for it.

Agree 100%, how are you going to sit down at the kitchen table with a 4 star prospect, his parents and get them to sign on the dotted line if....hi, I'm Darrell Bevell, head coach at Wisconsin. Who?

Peterson has won big games and has done a TON for that Boise program. He gets a LOT of respect in college football circles and is an excellent recruiter. He's a good fit because HE DOES have ties to Wisconsin. He still has a home in the Madison area and his daughter attends high school there.

To those on here that think Bret Bielema is a good hire at Arkansas where he has absolutely NO ties to, he will NOT be coaching there in 3 years.

I dunno, how are you gonna sit down with a hot coaching prospect and say "Come to Wisconsin"

You're getting an assistant coach at a big school or a head coach at a MAC or Big East school.

if you add dII experience - you have just quoted kelly's resume- I assume badger backers would take a similar coach, not insinuating hte individual would have similar results, but a (presumably)high character guy that wins

Christ, talk about unrealistic expectations! I'd leave for the money too if I took Wisky to 3 straight Rose Bowls and had to hear about it not being good enough. Jeez Louise.
