Fletcher, does your coach buddy have an inside track on the replacements for the big east? The names I'm hearing around here are:

Louisville
Cincinatti
S. Florida
E. Carolina
Memphis

I've been following this pretty closely around here.

The latest I heard this morning was 'Cuse and Miami almost definitely. Miami has been mentioned all along, so that fits with what Fletch said. But I'm just going by local sports reports in B-more.

Then, they were talking about BC or V. Tech. UVA would like to have a rival, so V. Tech would be nice. Also, if you have Miami and FSU, they would almost have to be in the ACC-South, so we'd need a team in the ACC-North to compete for the College Football championships. That would be V. Tech, I suppose, though you'd still like to see FSU-Miami for the conf. championship.

Basketball wise, Cuse would be a nice addition. This is going to mean that the ACC tourney isn't held in NC every year. Next years is already scheduled for the MCI center (DC). It also means the loss, probably, of all the home-and-homes that have made ACC Hoops so good for so many years.

Anyway, I think all this is great for the ACC, foots and hoops. Destroys the Big East, but shoot, in football NO ONE was fielding a team to play with Miami EVER, ANYWAY.

As an ACC fan, I'm glad.

does anyone hear what i am saying ,i am talking to a coach who just got the word from rich head coach what went on at meeting. for get what you hear on radio and talk shows. the next move is to kicking miami out of all big east sports , this will be going on for about 2 weeks ,it has nothing to do with 2005 and what miami wants big east loyal teams and presidents and coaches and comish are going to boot them out for the troubles and who ever else jump ship will get screwed because it has messed up other top teams fb wise more the bc and orangemen wvu has a big east crown 2 infact no other school besides miami has done that.

They won't play scheduel games against cains in anysport the other big east teams they will fill in games with other teams so acc will have to fix miami up with some football games and hoops games . this is going to turn into a big mess. it was 1 big fight today. so you see big east is telling miami to **** off you are all or one not like what happened with nd. so maiami will be screwed if they get dropped from all the big east teams in fb this fall, and it will be see you in court. Miami now has lost all voting power in big east . you will see how it will go, that is why i said it is going to get ugly. miami might have a 11 fb games with fl a&m usf ga southeren troy state because big east teams are going to drop them for the up coming season because they broke a verbal agreement that was made at last years meeting where cains would stay for 10 years made by miamis pres but new change of power from last year, acc tried this 2 years ago and that is why miani gave 10 years last year at meeting and now the bolt. so they will be left with out 8 fb games in the fall easy for each school that drops them to get a game then it is for miami to pick up 8 games. and hoops would almost have to fold for a season the other big east schools would have to replace 2 games and miami would have to find 20 games very tuff. this like i said is going to get very ugly and big east will put screws to miami and other members who leave this way, just as miami lied about 10 years last spring. but the new chanc. at miami backed out of word given , that is why people in big east office are upset. this is far from over but i think my info is better then some radio guy i new before any paper or radio reporter, because coaches and stafff were still inside talking and i was on phone with a wvu coach. who had just been told. so i was told what was going on. Miami has 0 say in the matter now. will love to see their teams who they play. or they will be making all kinds of cash payoffs to stay and have games , they will have to give all there gate for all there home games and get nothing for road games, this is how this works i coached long enough i think i know. then will try to get court injuction miami against big east . but kicker all meetings taped and so was miami's long term promiose at last years meeting when acc tried to steal them away. verbal can be up held. but like i said big east wants them gone now does not want them to hang around and was not going to beg, but they also can drop the games against miami , should think before you act. this will be fun to watch.

The word down here is Miami in ACC for ALL sports. Hoops, bases, football, etc. Done deal, probably for 2005 season.

Give the ACC a little more competition in FB. I wonder if Bobby Bowden will retire before the Canes join the ACC :moon:

time on their hands

time on their hands

If they don't have to change until 2005, then that should give them plenty of time to reschedule. I don't see what the big deal is.

i don't blame the big east for trying to throw miami out as soon as they can. this makes the acc a super conference, & while it's a good move for the acc, think it's generally bad for the game. in an ideal world, sports will benefit with all conferences being strong.

in effect this ruins a good conference. I know for a fact Boston College wants to leave also if Miami is gone. Athletic director was just on television. Big East has represented itself proudly every year in Bowl games. Acc Football is without question inferior to big East. W Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse programs are all on the rise. This will have huge effects on the League. Screw Miami, I hope they get it jammed up their ass in 2004 with no opponents.

I'm with you Shamrock. Big East is a great conference even if they didn't get the recognition they deserved. They always represent themselves well in the bowl games both in football and Baskets. I hope the rest of them stick together and stick it to Miami. They didn't add anything to baskets anyway.

BC is afraid the Big East, without Miami, will lose at least 1 of it's automatic BCS bids, thus costing BC and the Big East mega dollars...that is why they might jump with Miami...

wvu on the up start:shrug: since 1981 have only missed bowl games in 81,92,95,99 under nehlean played for championship in 88 and 92 both years 11-0 missed 2001 rich's first year new system last year 2002 2nd year lost 3 games and should of had bsc bowl but n.dame got it but still went to a nice bowl game and in that stretch they are 14 and 6 against bc only team flutie never had a win against , they just had a adjusment year in 2001 and only had 2 losing years under don from 81 to 2000 1995 and 1997 15 bowl games out of 20 years i would say is not bad.

that is a good point blitz but the big east has held it's own in bowl games over the year last 2 years have the best conf bowl rec combind. i still think if they hold together and bring in louisville for miami and cinncy for temple they will be better because louisville and cinncy will get better players and it will make hoops that much stronger then when ndame comes in full times knights are out for fb. unless they turn it around before hand which i don't see.
