Some observations about this thread - had a busy weekend and noted a few things tossed out here in a very unstructured "debate."
One thing I find VERY ironic now from conservatives. NOW, it is being demanded that Holder produce solid proof about holding the CIA responsible for illegal acts. While I do think they deserve some slack, I do think it's important for the agents of our country to act appropriately and above actions of say, what terrorists do. It is what makes our country different than those groups. But the thing is, our country has held hundreds of people - many without a shred of evidence or proof that they had anything to do with any kind of terrorism - and held them for years, and still hold them. Some were "captured" when other shady characters turned them over to Americans for $5,000 a head, no questions asked. You don't think $5,000 means something in shit holes like many of these people hang out? But of course, this all is inconsequential... we hold Holder responsible, and Obama responsible, but none of the other people responsible whatsoever. Sorry, IMO, that's just not right.
The second thing: we don't really know (unless I missed it) what information came from where and when that resulted in Bin Laden being killed. So, to blankly give Bush and company credit is not a fair thing to do. You can say maybe, you can say, it might have been, but you can't just give them the credit. In fact, none of that may have resulted in anything helpful with Bin Laden. Is it fair that I say that was the case? How do I know? How do you know? How much of the info gathered from terrorists and non-terrorists alike was bullshit?
The third thing: Couldn't it be true that BOTH Obama and Panetta gave the order to kill Osama? Panetta presenting the info, and/or others, Obama deciding to go for it, telling Panetta to give the order, then the act was carried out? That would make sense in many ways, and we're just getting scattered reports that none of us really know much about right now. I know it makes some here feel good to cast as much doubt on this as possible, but nothing really is proven with that.
The fourth thing: Wayne - I suppose you would say that your post about Obama and his "Ipod" and the rap music, with the big pic of the black rapper, has nothing to do with race, right? I suppose I'd be wrong to think you are suggesting something with that line of thought and posting? By the way, that looks a helluva lot more like a blackberry or phone than an Ipod - don't you think? Not that that should stop you from posting some black stuff... of course.
