Vasquez backers...

Vasquez backers...

Seems like there were a few other guys thinking the Vasquez + money was a little high and worth a shot. Here's a little something I read that disturbs me and has me thinking history will most likely repeat itself...............

Trainer fears for boxer
Roach is concerned about Vazquez's health in ring

The good fight sometimes means not fighting at all, or at least waiting for a later day.

Trainer Freddie Roach fears for Israel Vazquez of Las Vegas in a much-anticipated rematch Saturday against Rafael Marquez of Mexico City for a junior-featherweight title at Hidalgo, Texas.

Roach, who is Vazquez's former trainer, was working the corner for Scottish middleweight Craig McEwan in his victory Friday over Valentino Jalomo at Desert Diamond Casino south of Tucson. He said he is worried about Vazquez because of cumulative damage from his past two fights.

"I love Israel Vazquez," Roach said. "I hope for the best for him. But I worry about him."

Roach said it's too early for Vazquez (41-4, 30 KOs) to return from surgery to remove cartilage from a shattered nose suffered in losing the World Boxing Council's version of the title to Marquez (37-3, 33 KOs) after seven rounds on March 3.

Roach, the 2006 Trainer of the Year, said he wanted Vazquez to rest and heal away from the ring for a year.

Roach knows there is some good money in the immediate rematch, but the price might be Vazquez's career or worse.

"He's starting to slur his words," said Roach, who has been replaced by Rudy Perez.

The famed trainer also noticed that Vazquez, 29, was taking too many punches from "young kids" in training in Los Angeles.

"I didn't want to be part of this fight," said Roach, whose concern will be there even if he isn't.

Yea..yea..I know Roach was Vasquez' trainer before and he could be bitter about getting dumped, but I don't think so. Roach seems like a straight up guy who wouldn't say those things if he didn't mean it.

The more I think about this, the more I have my doughts about Vasquez nose holding up to the huge punches coming from Marquez. Broke his nose against Gonzalez and shattered it in his next fight with Marquez, had reconstructive surgery and is now fighting 5 months after the last fight? Did I mention that Marquez can crack a little?

Eventually Marquez will land a big one on the nose and I can't imagine it lasting much longer after that.
Once Vasquez feels the nose go again, its over...

The line has moved now so a buyback will cost us some bread, but I think its well worth it here. Would like to hear some thoughts from the guys about the nose issue. Any doctors in the house?...lol

I got diaz even money/large...speculation play where I believe Morales is DONE

I was thinking Marques but didn't consider the wager @-280 because I simply felt if they were taking the fight this soon then Roach really felt Vasquez could win. After reading that Vasquez changed his trainer and especially after Roaches comments, I'm highly considering the play @-280.

Also considering Bobo @+ but my 5dimes acct is tapped (don't tell sponge I wagered a 3rd time on floyd). I like the over but -370 is a little wide for an over bet.

I did well on the over earlier today in Italy to start the week out on a nice win.

As I stated in the Hatton-PBF thread, my parlay is Marquez-PBF. I too feel Marquez will crack Vazquez in the beak more than a few times. Marquez by KO, when the price is posted. Thanks for the post box.

I really like Marquez, but I thought Vazquez looked like the stronger man last time....

I think I will probably pass this one...

Damn, I was just taking a look at Pinnacle and I miss those lines. That sportsbook is a great tool to have. F'n US Government . On a more positive note, I was one of many with $$$$$ stuck in Neteller since January once again because of our dictatorship, but all that money just came back to me. :00hour

You want a nice parlay boost- take Diaz +8.5 at -215, that takes Marquez inside to plus money.

I got bobo @+125...line is closing. I saw bobo @-105. Possible scalp option by fight time. The fight is a pic em and to be honest, I really know very little about either guy. I just like youth, speed, boxing over an aging fighter. On paper it looks to be pretty close. Bobos lack of power is a concern.

I have an account at pinnacle and it would be more profitable to bet on Diaz by both a dec prop and ko prop than just a straight bet.

Staight bet: -108
Dec: 331
Ko, tko, dq: 351

I usually like to wait for the weigh ins though before I make a bet

but not to much and you lose if it is a draw. So take that into consideration.

"the bunker"
first off,i`ve already bet marquez inside the distance at roughly -160.....when i first saw the line i was tempted to play vasquez at +175.....but,someone mentioned waiting for the props and i thought that made sense.....the more i thought aboit it,i remembered that marquez has never lost a decision...

now,we see vasquez inside the distance at +494?....is that right?.....

that +494 on vasquez inside the distance is awfully tempting.....at first blush,i`d call that a bad line...

and i believe roach...i think he`s a square shooter and he may be right......vasquez` wars might have caught up with him...the wars with larios...the beating he took from jhonny gonsalez before he wore down the lighter man....the marquez war...

still,5-1?...on the bigger guy that was coming on a bit in the first fight?...vs a great fighter...a guy that`s`ll stand in with vasquez...especially after the last fight and knowing that vasquez has a target right between his eyes....

i`d like to figure out a way to take both guys inside the distance ...cause i just don`t see this going the distance...

i don`t see either guy pulling an omar sheika vs jeff lacy stunt............

again, vasquez` fights with larios were brutal give and take wars... and he was taking a bad physical beating from jhonny gonzales before proving just a little to strong and resilient.......he took severe punishment from marquez....and dished some out himself...

there are fights in which you believe that theres no way it will go the distance...and somehow, somebody ends up holding and turning it into a messy fight...and it goes the distance...

but,i just can`t see that happening here...these guys aren`t wired like that....

...to win, which what vasquez is here to do,vasquez is gonna have to take punishment....

he`s not slick...he comes forward...he did vs larios...he did vs gonzales...he did vs marquez....that`s what he does....

i trust that vasquez will die trying in that ring...figuratively,not literally...that`s who he is...

and i expect marquez will do his usual surgical job of trying to break vasquez down with those combinations...those half hook/uppercuts that he and his brother have perfected....

but, marquez has shown that his chin can be had.....if he had great whiskers,we might be talking about an all time great...we still might be...

like i said,i already grabbed some marquez inside the distance in the -160`s....i`m gonna try and hedge that somehow with that +494....

damn that`s generous...

Here's a parlay for you Romi- Diaz +17.5 points -495, with the current line on Kendall Holt -140 to bring it to +106- I like.

I wouldn't play Marquez inside distance -160 when you can get Marquez straight at -260

Just my opinion

gl bl

you know how cheap i am....i`m trying to maximize a hedge here.....anyway,it`s -330 at 5 dimes as we speak...and i don`t feel -330 confident here...

the way these odds are going, that +494 may go even higher...

imo, this is no cakewalk for marquez....vasquez,even though a little worn,is still bigger and stronger...and with marquez chin???????

i can`t lay -330...-160 with a hedge is about all i`m good for...

btw...anybody watching the news in minneapolis?....the bridge collapse...
unreal.....
