Wish I could vote on this one. I'm thinking the retired police officer that said the cornerpiece of his effort will be legalizing ownership of ferrets as pets. Of course the discount cigarette chain store owner sounds enticing. Tough one......too close to call.

I think a shoe in would be if they could find an illegal gay immigrant with aids that takes night courses at Berkley and works part time for LA Times with Micheal Moore as his campaign manger--hmm maybe that won't work "yet", as I believe they have to be citizen to run(for now), drivers license ID won't work.

DTB, You lead us to a link that was supposed to show that welfare costs grew under Clinton. I read the link and yes, it does say they grew but not any faster than the rate of inflation and in fact it even mentions Mr. Bush were it says Bush will be spending even more than Clinton. The following is a quote from the link.

"Again, although we do not yet have program by program spending projections from the Bush administration, the broad budget function figures we do have allow for the same rate of growth in cash, food, and housing as Clinton?s plan. Moreover, the Bush figures would permit more rapid growth in health spending. Thus, clearly, President Bush?s plan does not require cuts in welfare spending or even a slowdown in the rate of spending growth"

StevieD the point of spending is correct. I just cant believe the money going out on these plans. It's going out at rate faster then it can be collected. We just keep going in a deep hole. I never seen a republican spend so much money. I cant believe the republican congress lets it keep happening. We need someone to turn on a red light soon. We been told we have a balanced budget. Inpossiable with the deficit were running to try that BS line.

Steve I acknowledged it was not Clintons fault and the fact that Bush's would be higher and if they don't curb thee free lunches somehow each succeeding pres will be higher.
My anology was while Clintons plan did look feasible the bottom line is some people will not work work period and instead of my taxes going to pay their welfare I now have to pay for their schooling plus child care for their children. What next child support for an unknown father?????

Now the media is bringing up the fact that Arnie supported/voted for Prop 187 the bill that denies Illegal Immigrants certain social services. Cruz Bustamonte is all for the Hispanic vote and thus Pro Illegal Immigrants. Latest polls I've read had Arnie@ 25% and Cruz@ 15%. Just wish ppl would stop comparing Bush's deficit w/ Davis'. I think they are different issues and while I mostly support Bush, (I think he is the lesser of two evils when compared to the Wooden Indian), his polls indicate ppl want him as President- Sound familiar Clinton supporters?
McClintock seems to be the choice for me, but don't think he can pull it off.

Over the weekend a spokesman for the California Democratic Party issued a warning to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Bob Mulholland said that ?real bullets? would be coming his way during the current campaign for governor.

Real bullets? Obviously Mulholland is making a contrast to the fake bullets used in Arnold?s movies. The warning is clear. The bullets that may come your way during this election won?t be fakes.

Nice, huh? This is from the very political party that has worked so hard to remove the Second Amendment form our constitution. This is also from the party that has lost several revered politicians to gunfire. Robert Kennedy was gunned down in California. So, isn?t it so very special that we have a California political hack warning Arnold that the same may be in store for him.

Now ? we don?t really have to get into what would be happening if some Republican had said this about a Democrat, do we?
