Kinda,but comparing someone who taught the world its ways against a topic is dicy IMO.I just can't believe that a judge overruled the peoples voices.It won't make it past the supreme court there's no way.

Instead of going back and forth about if this ruling is right or wrong, everyone is still missing the big picture.
Can we allow activist courts and judges to overturn the will of the people? It doesn't matter what you believe is right on the issue here. What will these courts do next? Because the next step for Prop 8 is the Supreme Court, are you going to be able to accept a different ruling than that of the 9th District? This thing is far from over.

The "peoples voices" get overruled all the time. Remember the Emancipation Proclamation? Little Rock? It's called "busting bigots".
So over 50% of the CA voters are bigots because of their beliefs? 1 Activist Judge knows what's best for the whole state?

I have stated in my first reply, in your your BIGOTTED TITLE OF THIS THREAD, that I voted no on 8 which means yes. My problem is if the outcome isn't what the afflicted group wants, they run to the courts. Kind of like the Mob Boss Mayor Daley who has been violating the 2nd A during his reign of Terror in Chit Town. He didn't like the Ruling of McDonald and what does he do? He creates Draconian Anti-Gun Laws and Runs to the Courts. You can't have it both ways Duff. The people voted, every outcome can't be ruled on and overturned if you don't like it.
What if there was a vote to 86 you from Madjacks and 51% said Duff stays , the will of the people has spoken. But Rusty or Skully wants MJ to review it ........ :shrug: Not quite the same I know, but I'm sure you get the jist of it and how the vote of the Citizenis being nullified?

You forget, of course, that no majority of voters can override Constitutional law, and that is what the judge ruled they had tried to do with prop 8.
Everyone is allowed to petition the Court for relief, and that is the way it should be.
No mob rule in the USA, as much as you might like it.

The Constitution is not the will of some ginned-up bigots voting on prop 8. The will of one group of people does not rule. The Constitution rules.
Do you have a clue how the Constitution is amended? Not by a group of California homophobes.
Prop 8 violates the equal protection clause of the Constitution, and that is what the judge ruled. Which part of that don't you understand?
