i think between the munchkins and myself, we are approximately 0-250 right now. Geez....we're worse than the Bears ;)

where the heck is Koty's Dad when an explanation/trick is needed?? :(

It has to do with base 2 math. I beat it "by accident" messing around, give me a little while and I should have a write up on how to do it every time

Saint hit it right on the head, there are 18 balls....
row 1 ...3
row 2 ...4
row 3 ...5
row 4 ...6

now it doesn't really matter who goes first, but over and over again I have seen that as long as I clear any of the rows on my first hand, it always defeats the cpu...
trick here is to make sure you are not left on your turn with 6 balls left, if you are you are screwed...

we've left HIM with 6 left and still lost.......guess i'm not getting how it is possible to make sure he doesn't leave US with 6 :(

Okay, here it goes. Let me know if any of this doesn't make sense, I may confuse myself writing this up:D

Okay, so this is all figured out on base 2 math.

Let's look at the pearls in that friggen genie's hands as the game starts. "p" stands for a single pearl.

p p p
p p p p
p p p p p
p p p p p p

In base 2 math,

1= 0 0 1
2= 0 1 0
3= 0 1 1 (the combo of 1 and 2 above)
4= 1 0 0
5= 1 0 1 (the combo of 1 and 4 above)
6= 1 1 0 (the combo of 2 and 4 above)

If you are lost at this point, sorry, it's a bit confusing. So in the genies hands, these are the pearls:

p p p there are 3, so that equals 0 1 1 from above
p p p p there are 4, wo that equals 1 0 0
p p p p p there are 5 so that equals 1 0 1
p p p p p p there are 6 so that equals 1 1 0

Rewriting the genies hand in this new code, it is:

0 1 1 (3 pearls)
1 0 0 (4 pearls)
1 0 1 (5 pearls)
1 1 0 which adds up to (add downwards) :

3 2 2


Now, here's the key. You never want any odd numbers after you convert the genie's pearls. So, in the start of the game, you'd take all but 2 away from the last row. That way you will have:

0 1 1
1 0 0
1 0 1
0 1 0 which add to:

2 2 2

See how i got rid of the odd number. Now when the genie takes one/some away, he will create odds again. You must make all evens every time, you will win every time.


Phew....that may be a foreign language to some. If it doesn't make sense maybe I can apply it to a sample game i'll play. Just remember you have to use a pen and write out the "code" every time the hand changes.

sorry hellah, it was hard enough to figure out, i wasn't sure how to write it up any easier than that (without taking off my pocket protector:D ) The key to the entire game is that base 2 math thing. I'll try to think of another way that's in english!

I'll apply that all to a game I just played. The key is,

1 pearl in a row = 0 0 1
2 = 0 1 0
3= 0 1 1
4= 1 0 0
5 = 1 0 1
6 = 1 1 0 (see above it's explained better)

So, here was my game. @ is a pearl.

@ @ @............= 0 1 1
@ @ @ @........= 1 0 0
@ @ @ @ @....= 1 0 1
@ @ @ @ @ @= 1 1 0
.......adds up to: 3 2 2 ( add downwards). Now the 3 is the problem.

We want NO odds. So this is what I do, remove all but 2 from the last row:

@ @ @........= 0 1 1
@ @ @ @....= 1 0 0
@ @ @ @ @= 1 0 1
@ @............= 0 1 0
adds up to:....2 2 2 See how I took away from the bottom row to make that 3 turn into a 2.

So, this is what the genie then left me;

@ @ @.........= 0 1 1
@.................= 0 0 1
@ @ @ @ @.= 1 0 1
@ @.............= 0 1 0
adds up to : 1 2 3

Well, now we have two odds we must get rid of by taking away these pearls. This is accomplished by removing the entire 3rd row above:

@ @ @= 0 1 1
@........= 0 0 1
@ @....= 0 1 0
adds to: 0 2 2

This is good, we have evens. The genies next move:

@ @= 0 1 0
@....= 0 0 1
@ @= 0 1 0
adds to: 0 2 1

So simply remove the middle pearl, leave him w/ four, and the rest is easy!

Hope this way made it easier :cool:

thanks saint....you truly ARE a Saint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least we were able to copy your game and hear that sucker do something besides laugh...LOL...and oh joy.....MORE games :(

That SOB beat me about 450 games in a row, after understanding your code and applying it, it works like charm.

Takes a little time to play the game now but it is well worth it.
