AR, I would enjoy a friendly wager with you on the election. I believe the democratic party will win this election, with either Obama or Hillary on the top of the ticket, and with most any other mentioned candidate as VP.

Anything can certainly happen, and probably will. But I remain convinced that at the end of the day, both sides will retreat back into more of a status quo if undecided, and will stay true to the political roots they came into this with. And I still think the dissatisfaction with the Bush administration will have the most negative effect on the final tally - much like the past mid-term did. Many ways to look at it, that's just my short way.

I won't bore you with my real expectation of something serious of a terroristic nature coming to light (whether real or hinted at) as we get closer to November, if the dems remain close or if they gain any traction. This concerns me, and fully expect it.

But, I'll hop on for a gift certificate for a sensible meal that either of us can cash in on come November - or whenever the recounts and legal issues are decided...:142smilie

no doubt McCain will win in November against either candidate. It will be a landslide if the conservatives go vote.

A fair posting of question marks. I confess, I remain pretty angry about many of the things I've read, and I posted a generic rant-thread encompassing conservatives in general, which is what I'm railing on in others. I'll try to be more specific and wade into those posts I have issues with if I care to put on my galoshes :walk: .

Just stirring the pot, Chadman. No harm intended. It's easy for me to point fingers because I don't get too worked up over politics.

How'd you do the double quote--been trying to figure that out? Can see where that will come in handy :)

On Mccain winning--lot depends on who is running against who and who the VP are.

Main issue will move from Iraq to economy I believe.
Could be huge sore spot for Dems

Believe people are overstating issue of Iraq--remember how things were going in 04 and we were just coming off prison scandle to boot- things coundn't look worse--wrong!
Not so with we the people--and considering what shape things are in now and prospects of what might be in Nov--the Iraq issue might be huge negative for the we lost/surrender at any cost crew.

You have to cheat the system a little bit, Wayne.

You can do many, but it would be more work. To do two, I just hit quote on one post. CTRL+A, CTRL+C to copy all text.

Then go to the second post you want to quote and hit quote.

Then CTRL+V to paste the first quote in with the second.

Have fun! I feel like I just unleased a monster!! :scared

i think mccain is the worst nightmare for the dems.once the anger settles down from the conservatives, mccain can & will appeal to a large number of different voters..where romney or huckabee couldn't.

I agree completely. Obama would be the only one to have a chance because he seems to really drive out the vote to people that don't always vote (esp. based on primary turnout numbers). But I suspect McCain will be the next president. And it terrifies me.

If I may expand on this with recent poll just released---

Unpopularity Contest

One major figure in the War on Terror is plummeting in the polls ? and it's not President Bush.

Usama bin Laden's numbers are significantly down in a new survey of Pakistanis for the U.S.-based Terror Free Tomorrow organization

Bin Laden's approval rating among Pakistanis is at 24 percent ? as they prepare to vote in elections next week. That's down from 46 percent in August.

Al Qaeda and the Taliban are also losing support. Al Qaeda gets just 18 percent positive reaction from Pakistanis, down from 33 percent last summer. The Taliban is at 19 ? down from 38.

--and to think just 7 years ago the country of Pakistan was supporting Taliban in Afgan.

7 hard years of sacrifice by troops finally paying off--outlook for A-Q gets dimmer on all fronts--UBL and al-zachari errored on assumption we wouldn't have the stomach for the fight--well most of us anyway--and till Nov at least-:0corn

AR, the wife, son and I were in Vegas a while back, and I doubt we'll be back there together for a few years. Going to hit a different city or area each year with the son before he flies the coop. Next year we're already planning on taking him and a friend to Mexico. I might try to hook up with some friends in Vegas at some point for some golf and gambling.

Sure thing, AR...sorry, been both very cold and very busy this week...;)

I think there is a good website somewhere that you can go to and purchase a gift certificate from many choices - would be a chain thing, probably. I'll try to find that. Maybe cap this at a nice $50 meal or some such thing, or it can be less...the wife and I have simple culinary needs...:D

people are very enthusiastic about obama & i can see why...great speaker. but when he starts debating mccain, i believe people will see somebody in over his head....& as long as mccain does not look old on the campaign trail & debates, i think he wins.

tell me murph...are you as sure of the dems winning as you were when we made the bet ?

Well....that's kind of a tough question. I think Hillary loses to McCain, but O'Bama beats him.

I made the bet because I just couldn't imagine us torturing ourselves by not punishing the party of Bush. Most people WANT to go that direction, but I understand how much hate there is for Hillary. I would probably rather see McCain win than Hillary. But O'Bama is top choice. I think he has broken through some significant racial and name barriers. The more he speaks, the more popular he gets. If he gets past Hillary, I think he will beat McCain rather easily.
