a rant about the NHL/NBC blackouts:

I purchased the NHL Gamecenter App this season to watch out of market games, notably Pens, that weren?t shown here in Chicago. Whenever a game was on national coverage via NBC, NBCSports or the NHL Network, I couldn't watch it via the app. No problem, I have the expanded sports package for my tv and can watch it on there.

If the local team, those pretty talented Blackhawks, have a game on say NBCSports, I can?t watch the game on the tube on that channel. It?s blacked out so that you have to watch it on the local sports network so they can max value of their ad revenue, I understand that and no issue really during the regular season.

Tonight the Hawks/Wild are NBCSports so the above scenario applies and I?m watching it on the local Comcast sports station and flipping back and forth with the Kings/Blues tilt. As those games go to OT, the Ducks/Red Wings get underway. That game is scheduled to air on NBCSports. However, the blackout for that channel is still in effect due to the Hawks game still going on. I figure no issue, pull out the ipad and plan to watch on there. Nope, can?t watch on the Gamecenter app as it is nixed on there due to being aired on NBCSports.

I?ve paid for the additional online and tv coverage but couldn?t watch this game until the Chicago game ends. That is pretty crappy and illogical in my mind.

I couldn't believe it, I can't believe the NHL has blacked out games. They need all the support they can get. Very frustrating not to be able to watch that late game
