Hey all - Probably a long shot, but I figure it can't hurt to post. I host an annual charity poker tournament to benefit the Chicago Diabetes Project - an org that is determined to come up with a functional cure for Type 1 Diabetes. My seven year old son has the disease. Below are the deets. Honestly, I'm not even looking for donations here - I just thought if there were any local Madjackers that wanted to play some poker, they could come. First prize is a seat at the WSOP Main Event. Other cool prizes, booze, and food too. Anyhow, let me know if anyone out there is interested. It's tomorrow night in Deerfield, about 20 minutes north of Chicago. Info below...
Hi All,
Wanted to follow up on an amazing event that I am hosting and is taking place on Saturday, September 26th to raise money for the Chicago Diabetes Project in honor of our son, Joshua Batt. Tickets are now available (click link below) for this incredible event. Don't delay, as last year the event was sold out!
Also, if you can't attend the event but would like to make a donation to help fund a cure for diabetes, PLEASE click on the second link below- no amount is too small!
THANK YOU in advance for your generosity and for helping make a difference in the lives of those who suffer.

We have a very personal connection with a disease that affects millions of children and adults. Our oldest son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in April, 2010, when he was just 22 months old. He will be insulin-dependent for the rest of his life. There is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Joshua is now seven years old, and amongst other things, has to endure 10 finger pricks a day to check his blood sugar levels. We have to monitor everything Joshua eats and drinks, and consequently, administer the proper amount of insulin. Diabetes doesn?t sleep; we must even check his blood sugar throughout the night. As many of you have seen, Joshua is full of smiles, laughs and 7-year-old mischief - amidst his not-so carefree life with Type 1 Diabetes. It is a 24 hour, 7 day a week struggle simply to make sure Joshua feels healthy every day.
While the equipment and management for Type 1 Diabetes becomes better and more advanced every year, there is still no cure. For the first time in our lives, we feel that a cure is near. The Chicago Diabetes Project (CDP) is doing groundbreaking work to make this dream a reality. We are extremely confident that it is only a matter of time before the research and trials of the CDP come up with a functional cure for Type 1, thus dramatically improving the lives of the millions affected by this brutal, labor intensive disease.
Thanks VERY much,
Jordan
