Thanks, bbc.

My itinerary is set:

Arrival Thursday, 8/27
Departure Sunday 8/30

Mets @ Cubs that weekend, so hopefully (albeit doubtful considering the woeful play of both teams right now) the games will have post season implications.

I'm going to Hawaii for 10 days in early August with wife and kids, but am just as pumped about my solo Chicago excursion.

Chicagoans, what is up with Gene & Georgetti? I was told yesterday that this is at or near the top of the list of steakhouses in Chicago. Is it, or do you have any better suggestions? Also thinking of hitting a Rick Bayless restaurant that weekend.

One this is certain, I will be consuming food and bev at an all time rate:toast:

Gene & Georgetti's is one of the old school steakhouses and I will be willing to place a small wager that you won't finish the meal unless your name is Joey Chestnut:mj07:

Eaten there a couple times, great meal, HUMONGOUS portions, and most of the waiters are older than your parents:00hour

I will be there next weekend for a convention and may have to suggest to my company a dinner there!

Cie,

If you're just going down for a Cubs game - a purple line gets pretty close to you in Wilmette and goes right down to the park. And dunclock recommended a good steak place, but there's got to be some culinary dishes that the yanks know better, no? The best part about Gene and Georgetti's is all the tourist go there :mj07:

Here's the one you go to.

I may be working out that way when you're here, so if you can squeeze in a couple of cocktails, let me know. . .

Thanks for the heads up on the G&G.

Drinks sound good, but I'll be downtown. Looks like I'll staying at the Intercontinental on N. Michigan. Hopefully, downtown works for you.

Was asking about trains to highland park last week because I was considering an outdoor concert thursday night. I've since scrapped that plan.

I will be there on the 16th to see a friend of mines band play at Gushers, I think it's called and then headed back to Texas for a few days and then will be right back up there until last week in July.

BBC,

You up for a few that night at Gushers. Haven't looked up its location yet but I am staying at Mom's house in Oak Lawn and orange lining it to Pulaski then just a quick cab ride to 99th st. Let me know.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Cie,

That week - getting downtown will be either impossible or a breeze - I just won't know until it gets closer. That concert place in Highland Park has a el stop right next to it for their concert weekends, it's just the venue kinda sucks for sound

FDC - 99th? Isn't that where all the gun play is :SIB - 16th of this month or next?
