Well,
Seems to be some interest in the forum again related to smoking. What to smoke...where ya can smoke it etc...I'm coming up to my 4th anniversary (thanks to the great support I received here at Madjacks from DTB,Buddy,Jack,KC,Fletcher,Ctown and so many others........I owe you guys so much...WOW..what a difference!) and am still SMOKE FREE....Those bastards, with my help, drugged me when I was a kid and held on to me for 40+ years........NO MORE
I feel great! No more throat clearing...crap spitting, smelly breath, stained teeth etc. AND............I'm $6000 + richer and counting every day.
Now....I really understand how smokers feel and I'm all for smokers rights....I just wish all smokers had insurance for the health problems that result and help to push up insurance premiums every year....
Nevertheless......TO ALL SMOKERS.......you'll never hear me try to take away your rights to smoke....but if you knew how good I feel NOW........you would QUIT!........Thats it...my yearly diatribe/thank you letter.

Thanks and good luck
to the smokers...hope ya feel like quitting one day!

Congratulations Bear!!!

I have been to my doctor to discuss quitting smoking. Well, more than that...I have actually set a Quit Date of August 8th. I've been reading Alan Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking on his recommendation.

I'm pretty nervous about it all. I've been smoking for 24 years, which is almost 2/3 of my life. I don't anticipate it being easy to quit at all. But it IS good to hear stories of how much better a non-smoker feels now, instead of stories about how they crave a smoke months or even years after quitting.

Hope to join you in the smoke-free section soon! :) Congrats again.

GM.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Let me tell you.......Its tough...and you'll be MOODY.....Tell your loved ones to get ready.. I'll never smoke again but I can say that I'd like to be able to. Of course I would....nicotine is a POWERFUL addictive drug...1 cigarette and I'd be right back where I was......I know that because I've done it...Quit once for a year and thought I'd have just 1 once in a while.....after 1st one........finished a pack in just a few hours...NO MORE.......Agent 0659 is right.......you'll get cravings but very manageable the more time goes by........AND........you are going to start feeling so damned good that you will beat the cravings easy....GM do you have family who will benefit from your quitting.....keep them close to you in your mind.
Now.........my quit date was Aug 11, 2001.......and I really had the support of a lot of Madjack friends.......I really needed that support and it helped to come here and share the misery..Look back, if it will help, and find the thread........it was pretty long and very helpful to me...
I'll be here to help you and I bet many others will be as well. GREAT DECISION!!!!!!!!
Agent0659...Congrats to you as well! Life is much better without the butts!
Aug 8....GM

"If this post leads just 1 person to quit smoking it will be a great thing. Do it for your family Agent and Chops stay with it. The longer you resist the easier it will get."

This was the exact moment I decided to quit and did so cold turkey Jan, 1 2005

Thank You.......for your support back then. (I really would have had trouble making it without that support) It does not seem like 4 years but it sure has made a difference........all positive

Thanks again
