Quote of the Day
“My spring training start days were scripted out in January with the original plan being starting and then being done. And obviously when I got here my emotions kind of changed a little bit, my thought process changed a little bit and tried to make it work but just couldn’t. And I hate it, but it’s all right.”
Tarik Skubal

Tuesday’s quiz
Where did Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade play his college basketball?

Monday’s quiz

— Phillies signed P Jesus Luzardo to a five-year contract worth $27M/year; last year, he was 15-7, 3.92 in 32 starts, despite an ugly two-start stretch in June where he gave up 20 runs in 5.2 IP. Word is he was tipping his pitches, but he did way better after that.

NFL happenings……..(there are a lot of them)

— Dolphins let QB Tua Tagovailoa walk, taking on a $99.2M salary cap hit, the biggest one ever. Tagovailoa is moving to Atlanta- they’ll pay him $1.3M in 2026.

— Dolphins signed QB Malik Willis for three years, $67.5M; Willis has started six NFL games, going 3-3. He was in Green Bay with new Dolphins’ coach Jeff Hafley the last two years.

— Raiders signed C Tyler Linderbaum for three years, $81M, with $60M of that guaranteed; he becomes the highest-paid interior lineman ever.
Last year, the Raiders averaged 0.5 yards before contact/rush, the worst mark by ANY team since 2013. Linderbaum is expected to help fix that problem.

— Patriots gave backup QB Tommy DeVito a two-year deal worth $7.4M; DeVito went 3-5 as a starter with the Giants, in 2023-24.

— Cardinals signed QB Gardner Minshew for one year, $8.25M; he is 17-30 as a starter for five different NFL teams, mostly with the Jaguars.

— Chiefs signed RB Kenneth Walker for three years, $45M, with $28.7M of that guaranteed.

— Jets added seven players for a total cost of $93.2M; six of the seven players play defense.

— Titans were very busy, adding eight players, including two offensive linemen, two corners.
