Wednesday?s List of 13: Mid-week musings??.

13) Big week here in beautiful upstate New York; Tuesday was the first day of legalized sports betting at the Rivers Casino in Schenectady, which is 15.6 miles from Armadillo World HQ, according to MapQuest.

Will report back to you guys when I make my first visit to the new sportsbook, which will be this afternoon for some day baseball.

12) Would major league baseball ever go to a split-season system, where the season reboots at the halfway mark and everyone is 0-0, with first-half and second-half winners meeting in the playoffs?

This is one of those radical change ideas that I?m not necessarily against; it would discourage teams from giving up at this time of year and create renewed hope for teams that had a cruddy first half.

11) Last three weeks, winner on the PGA Tour was a first-time winner, but only two of the three guys got an invite to the British Open- the guy who won the 3M tournament in Minnesota didn?t get an invite and I?m wondering why?

10) Philadelphia 76ers signed Ben Simmons to a 5-year, $170M contract extension; hopefully he?ll take some of that money, buy a basketball, and practice shooting it this summer.

Simmons has a career 58.3% mark on the foul line; he is 0-17 in his career behind the arc. You make $34M a year, would be nice if you could at least make 70% on the foul line.

9) LSU?s new passing game coordinator in 28-year old Joe Brady, who comes to LSU from the Saints. Brady isn?t LSU?s offensive coordinator; Steve Ensminger has that job, but Brady was brought in to make the Tigers? offense more diverse. We?ll see.

8) ESPN+ is going to have an all-access series featuring Kansas football which means that we?ll have a lot more Les Miles quotes to sift through, never a bad thing.

7) Baseball stuff:
? Cubs put C Willson Contreras (strained arch) on IL
? Cubs acquired C Martin Maldonado from KC for P Mike Montgomery.
? Giants put 3B Evan Longoria (foot) on the IL.
? Mets put P Zack Wheeler (shoulder) on IL, so much for trading him.
? Dodgers put IF/OF Chris Taylor (broken arm) on IL.
? Phillies? OF Jay Bruce left Tuesday?s game (oblique).

6) The Madden video game has Eli Manning as the worst starting QB in the NFL; Aaron Rodgers is ranked #7, so we?re not 100% sure the Madden people know whats up. Rodgers played LY with a broken bone in his leg and a sprained MCL.

5) Finals of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

Minnesota was 12-1 to win the league; Memphis was 30-1 before the tournament.

4) Redskins? QB Alex Smith broke his leg back in November; it is said to be a career-threatening injury. He finally had the brace removed Monday, on July 15, eight months later.

3) College basketball transfer portal:
? Cleveland State G Tyree Appleby bolts to Florida.

2) Angels pitcher Noe Ramirez drilled Houston OF Jake Marisnick in the first game Marisnick played against the Angels since he broke Angels? C Jonathan Lucroy?s nose in a home plate collision over a week ago. Benches emptied, but nothing happened.

Years ago, the play at the plate wouldn?t even have been mentioned on Sports Center, other than Lucroy getting hurt, but it today?s softer society, it became a thing for a while.

1) In June, 1,899 vehicle break-ins were reported in San Francisco, or roughly 63 per day. Those are the ones that were reported. Just thought you?d like to know.

LEADING OFF: Angels streaking, Homer's odyssey, Reds-Cubs
July 17, 2019
By The Associated Press

A look at what's happening around the majors today:

PULLING TOGETHER

The grieving Angels go for their sixth consecutive victory since the All-Star break when they host Houston again. Los Angeles (50-46) has won eight of 11 since the death of pitcher Tyler Skaggs and moved four games above .500 for the first time since June 2018. Star outfielder Mike Trout hopes to return to the lineup after missing the past two games with a mildly strained right calf. All-Star righty Gerrit Cole (9-5, 3.23 ERA), who graduated from nearby Orange Lutheran High School, pitches for the Astros against an opener and Felix Pena (7-2, 4.32 ERA), who threw the final seven innings of the Angels' combined no-hitter last week.

HOMER'S ODYSSEY

Homer Bailey makes his Oakland Athletics debut against last-place Seattle after being acquired from Kansas City in a trade Sunday. Bailey (7-6, 4.80 ERA) arrived Tuesday in the Bay Area and headed straight to join his new team at the Coliseum, saying he knew ''absolutely zero'' players on the A's. The right-hander is 3-0 with a 2.83 ERA in his last six starts for his longest winning streak since four consecutive victories in 2014 for Cincinnati. Oakland has won five in a row to move within 4+ games of the AL West-leading Astros, matching their smallest advantage since May 9.

UNFRIENDLY CONFINES

Cubs right-hander Yu Darvish (2-4, 4.72 ERA) faces Sonny Gray (5-5, 3.42) and the Reds in the rubber match of a three-game series between NL Central foes. Darvish, who has 13 no-decisions in 19 starts this season, is still looking for his first win at Wrigley Field since signing with Chicago last year. Gray will be making his first career appearance at the iconic ballpark.

PLAYING WITHOUT A FULL DECK

Already missing injured regulars Yadier Molina and Marcell Ozuna, the St. Louis Cardinals will also be minus Matt Carpenter for a while after the infielder was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a bruised right foot. Carpenter fouled a pitch off the top of his foot Monday night and left the game. The team said X-rays were negative. ''Just got to wear this boot for four to five days and then hopefully the swelling and inflammation goes down and I can start doing what I need to do,'' Carpenter said. ''They're optimistic it won't be more than a week.'' Carpenter is the seventh Cardinals player on the injured list. He was just activated last Thursday after being sidelined since June 29 with a lower back strain.

ON THE MEND

Indians ace Corey Kluber is scheduled to throw 20 fastballs in his first bullpen since breaking his right arm when he was struck by a line drive May 1. The two-time Cy Young Award winner is on the 60-day injured list. Cleveland manager Terry Francona called the session ''a big step, a good step,'' but cautioned that Kluber is still weeks from potentially beginning a minor league rehab assignment. The surging Indians have won three straight and eight of 10 to move within five games of first-place Minnesota in the AL Central, the tightest margin since May 19.

SUMMER HEAT

One night after the latest surly clash between Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and the Tampa Bay Rays, the AL East rivals meet again in the Bronx. Yonny Chirinos (8-4, 3.11 ERA) faces New York right-hander Domingo German (11-2, 3.40) in the third game of a four-game set. Chirinos has made seven straight quality starts. German is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in two starts since returning from the injured list.

Wednesday's Diamond Notes
July 17, 2019
By Kevin Rogers

Hottest team: Giants (8-2 last 10)

San Francisco closed out May with a 9-6 loss to Baltimore after blowing a 5-0 first inning lead to drop to 22-34 at the bottom of the NL West. Six weeks later, the Giants have won 24 of the last 39 games to creep into the discussion for a Wild Card berth, while capturing four consecutive series victories. San Francisco has knocked off good competition in this stretch, including road series wins at Milwaukee and Colorado since the All-Star break.

The Giants seek the four-game series sweep of the Rockies at Coors Field this afternoon after holding off Colorado in extra innings on Tuesday. San Francisco?s offense has exploded of late by scoring at least seven runs in nine of its 11 victories, while posting an incredible 10-1 record in its last 11 opportunities as an underdog. The Giants are 3-0 in Shaun Anderson?s last three outings, as the right-hander makes his first career start against the Rockies, who have lost seven of their past nine home contests.

Coldest team: White Sox (0-5 last five)

Three teams have yet to win a game since the All-Star break, including Baltimore and San Diego. The third squad is Chicago, whose offense has disappeared of late by scoring a grand total of seven runs in the past five defeats, while getting routed in Tuesday?s 11-0 setback at Kansas City. The White Sox have lost nine of their past 10 road contests with the last victory away from Chicago coming at Boston on June 26 as a hefty +300 underdog.

The Sox try to break through the win column tonight as Ivan Nova takes the mound. Chicago has lost three of Nova?s past four starts with the lone victory coming against the Cubs as a +165 home underdog on July 7. The Sox are 1-1 in Nova?s two outings against Kansas City this season as the right-hander allowed four runs in a 6-4 loss at Kauffman Stadium last month.

Hottest pitcher: Domingo German, Yankees (11-2, 3.40 ERA)

New York rallied past Tampa Bay last night after blowing a ninth-inning lead in Monday?s setback in the Bronx. The top two teams in the AL East square off for the third contest of a four-game set tonight at Yankee Stadium as German looks to stay on fire following a stint on the injured list. German has tossed 13 innings in his last two starts, while striking out 13 batters and not issuing a single walk as the Yankees beat the Mets and Blue Jays. German has compiled an impressive 1.98 ERA at home as the Yankees are 6-1 in his seven Bronx starts, while he defeated Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field in May as a +150 underdog.

Coldest pitcher: Nick Pivetta, Phillies (4-4, 5.81 ERA)

Philadelphia squandered a 6-1 lead in last night?s game against Los Angeles as the Dodgers rallied for an 8-6 ninth inning lead. However, the Phillies finally broke through against the NL West leaders by scoring three runs in the bottom of the ninth to edge Los Angeles, 9-8 for its first win against the Dodgers in five meetings this season. Now, Pivetta will try to give Philadelphia back-to-back victories in spite of losing three of his past four starts. Pivetta has allowed 23 runs in his last five starts, but the Phillies? right-hander shut down the Dodgers? lineup at Chavez Ravine last month by tossing six scoreless innings before Los Angeles attacked Philadelphia?s bullpen in an 8-0 runaway.

Biggest OVER run: Rangers (7-2 last nine)

Texas won the first two games out of the All-Star break against Houston by scoring 14 runs in those victories. The Rangers have dropped three straight, while being held to 12 runs in those defeats, as the pitching staff has been lit up of late. Since blanking the Astros last Thursday, the Rangers have allowed 8, 7, 12, and 9 runs the past four contests, as Lance Lynn suffered his first home loss of the season in Tuesday?s 9-2 setback to Arizona. Texas wraps up the two-game interleague series tonight at home with Jesse Chavez on the mound as the veteran right-hander yielded seven runs in 5.1 innings of a 9-8 win over Houston last Friday.

Biggest UNDER run: Nationals (10-1 last 11)

Washington captured the opener of the Beltway Series with Baltimore at Camden Yards last night, 8-1 to improve to 8-1 in the last nine matchups with the Orioles since 2017. The Nationals? pitching staff continues to step up of late by allowing three runs or fewer in eight of the past 10 games, while hitting the UNDER in six straight contests. The Orioles have scored two runs or less in four of the last six games, as Baltimore is currently on a 6-2 UNDER run the past eight contests. Erick Fedde hasn?t been sharp in the last two starts for Washington by allowing seven runs in 9.2 innings of work, but the Nationals have scored four runs or more in five of his past trips to the mound.

Matchup to watch: Astros vs. Angels

Houston still owns a 10-game advantage over Los Angeles in the AL West standings, but the Angels have gained three games since the All-Star break. Following the emotional three-game sweep of the Mariners in which the Angels honored fallen teammate Tyler Skaggs with a no-hitter last Friday, Los Angeles captured the first two games against Houston by scoring 16 runs in the two victories. The Angels rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the series opener for a 9-6 triumph, followed by a six-run first inning in Tuesday?s 7-2 blowout of the Astros.

Gerrit Cole tries to stop the bleeding for Houston tonight as the southern California native picked up a no-decision in his last start at Texas. The Astros lost to the Rangers as -215 road favorites, 9-8, in spite of Cole striking out 13 batters in six innings. Houston had won Cole?s three previous starts, but the Astros are 0-2 in his last two outings away from Minute Maid Park. Cole faced the Angels back on July 6 in Houston and tossed a gem by posting seven scoreless innings in a 4-0 shutout as a hefty -240 favorite.

Felix Pena counters for the Halos, making his first start April 19. Pena has been pitching out of the bullpen the last two months, including tossing the final seven innings of last Friday?s no-hitter against Seattle. The Angels have followed the model of the Rays by starting a reliever for an inning or two prior to a bullpen-by-committee approach as Pena has tossed at least four innings of ?relief? in five straight outings, although the right-hander has been the primary pitcher in those games.

Betcha didn?t know: The Marlins blasted the Padres on Tuesday, 12-7 as San Diego scored three runs in the ninth inning to make the final score look better. Miami owns a 4-1 record this season at home after winning the series opener as Trevor Richards takes the mound this evening. Richards has struggled at Marlins Park this season with Miami posting a 2-9 record in his 11 home starts, while the Fish are 0-6 in his last six starts overall.

Bailey wins in Oakland debut, Athletics beat Mariners 10-2
July 17, 2019
By The Associated Press

MIAMI (AP) Rookie right-hander Chris Paddack took a no-hitter into the eighth inning and two relievers got the final four outs to complete a three-hitter and help the San Diego Padres beat the Miami Marlins 3-2 Wednesday night.

The Padres, who played their first game in 1969, are the only major league team never to have thrown a no-hitter.

After Starlin Castro homered leading off the eighth, Paddack (6-4) retired the next two batters and then departed. He struck out eight, walked one, threw 94 pitches and lowered his ERA to 2.70.

Austin Hedges hit a two-run homer, his seventh, against Trevor Richards (3-11) to help San Diego break a four-game losing streak.

Paddack retired the first 15 batters before Cesar Puello reached on a throwing error by shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. Pinch hitter Yadiel Rivera walked with two out in the sixth and was the only other baserunner against Paddack.

Kirby Yates pitched around back-to-back throwing errors to start the ninth for his 31st save. Castro's two-out RBI single made it 3-2 before Yates struck out Curtis Granderson with two on for the win.

ATHLETICS 10, MARINERS 2

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Homer Bailey shook off a rocky start to go six innings in his Oakland debut and Mark Canha and Jurickson Profar each homered twice in a win over Seattle.

Chad Pinder and Ramon Laureano also went deep as the A's matched their season high with six home runs. They lost Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman to an ankle injury after two innings.

Oakland has won six straight and 12 of 14. The A's have homered in a season-high 17 consecutive games.

Tim Beckham had two hits for Seattle. The Mariners have lost six straight.

Bailey (8-6) allowed seven hits and two runs for his fourth consecutive win and first since being acquired from Kansas City over the weekend. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.

Tommy Milone (1-4) allowed five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

GIANTS 11, ROCKIES 8

DENVER (AP) - Donovan Solano had four hits, including a tie-breaking home run leading off the sixth inning, and San Francisco completed a four-game series sweep in Colorado for the first time in nearly eight years.

Pablo Sandoval sparked a three-run first inning with a two-run double and Stephen Vogt also homered for the surging Giants, who have won five straight and 12 of 14. Brandon Belt had an RBI single among his three hits.

Trevor Story and Ryan McMahon homered for the Rockies, losers of four straight and 11 of their last 13.

It was the first-four game sweep by the Giants in Colorado since Sept. 15-18, 2011.

Jon Gray (9-7) went 5 1/3 innings and allowed 11 hits and six runs. He walked three and struck out three in the loss.

Derek Holland (2-4) picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

METS 14, TWINS 4

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Dominic Smith put New York ahead with a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the seventh inning, and Pete Alonso added a 474-foot shot halfway up the third deck as Minnesota lost a third straight game for the first time this season.

Amed Rosario went 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Mets, who overcame three one-run deficits, set a 2019 high for runs and matched a season best with their fourth consecutive victory.

Reliever Trevor May (3-3) took the loss.

Nelson Cruz and Mitch Garver went deep for the Twins.

The Mets improved to 5-0 at Target Field, where they won three games in 2013.

CARDINALS 6, PIRATES 5

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Paul Goldschmidt hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning and St. Louis rallied to deal Pittsburgh its fifth loss in six games.

John Brebbia (3-3) struck out four in two perfect innings. Carlos Martinez picked up his sixth save in eight chances.

Tyler O'Neill also homered for the Cardinals, who won two of three from the Pirates.

Pirates starter Chris Archer allowed three runs and five hits in six innings. Archer had a pair of hits, including an RBI single in a three-run fourth, after starting the season 1 for 25 at the plate.

BREWERS 5, BRAVES 4

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Josh Hader struck out Ozzie Albies with two outs and the tying run on third in the ninth to preserve the Milwaukee's win over Atlanta.

Christian Yelich hit his 34th homer of the season. It was Yelich's third home run in four games.

The Brewers got a two-run homer from Manny Pina's in the second. Josh Donaldson hit a two-run shot for the Braves.

Milwaukee starter Chase Anderson (5-2) gave up only one hit, a double to Brian McCann in the second inning, in 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three. Hader earned his 21st save.

Dallas Keuchel (3-3) allowed five runs, four earned, in 5 2/3 innings.

CUBS 5, REDS 2

CHICAGO (AP) - Yu Darvish tossed six innings of two-hit, shutout ball to finally earn his first win at Wrigley Field in Chicago's win over Cincinnati.

Kris Bryant and Addison Russell homered for the only hits off Sonny Gray (5-6) as Chicago won for the fifth time in six games.

Jason Heyward drove in two insurance runs with a double as the NL Central leaders took two of three from the Reds to win just their second series since sweeping St. Louis on June 7-9.

Darvish (3-4) also won for the first time anywhere since April 27 at Arizona as he struck out seven, walked none and hit two batters. The right-hander had 12 no-decisions and a loss in his previous 13 starts.

Craig Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save in five chances.

INDIANS 7, TIGERS 2

CLEVELAND (AP) - Mike Clevinger matched his career high with 12 strikeouts in six innings, Oscar Mercado drove in two runs and Cleveland beat Detroit.

Clevinger (3-2) struck out the side in the first two inning. He was lifted after 100 pitches and allowing one run on six hits in his third double-digit strikeout performance of the season. Nick Wittgren worked the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up his second save.

Mercado gave Cleveland a 2-0 lead in the third with a double that scored Mike Freeman and Tyler Naquin.

Nicholas Castellanos hit a solo homer and Jeimer Candelario added an RBI single for Detroit.

Spencer Turnbull (3-9) took the loss.

RED SOX 5, BLUE JAYS 4

BOSTON (AP) - Rafael Devers hit a solo homer and drove in four runs, Eduardo Rodriguez pitched effectively into the seventh inning and Boston sent Toronto's Aaron Sanchez to his 13th straight loss.

Devers also had a two-run double and RBI single, Brock Holt added a run-scoring hit - one of his three singles - for the Red Sox, who had dropped three of four since a five-game winning streak.

Teoscar Hernandez hit two solo homers over the Green Monster and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had one for the Blue Jays, who have lost seven of 10.

Rodriguez (11-4) held the Blue Jays to two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking three.

Once dominant, right-hander Sanchez (3-14) had his miserable season continue. He gave up four runs and eight hits in five innings and his ERA rose to 6.26; while he remained winless in his last 15 starts.

DIAMONDBACKS 19, RANGERS 4

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Eduardo Escobar homered twice and the Arizona tied a franchise record for a nine-inning game with 21 hits while thumping Texas.

The 19 runs were Arizona's most since setting a franchise record with 20 against the San Diego Padres last July. Escobar's first homer sparked a seven-run first inning against right-handed starter Jesse Chavez (3-5), who got just two outs.

The switch-hitting Escobar added a three-run homer batting right-handed against Kyle Bird in the sixth and had five RBIs. Kevin Cron, Jarrod Dyson and Carson Kelly also homered for Arizona.

Robbie Ray (8-6) and two relievers cruised through the blowout.

The 19 runs were the most allowed by Texas this season.

ORIOLES 9, NATIONALS 2

BALTIMORE (AP) - Trey Mancini hit two home runs and Baltimore pummeled Washington's ineffective bullpen to earn a split in the two-game interleague series.

The defeat - only the fourth in 17 games for the Nationals - kept them 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Braves in the NL East.

Adam Eaton drove in both runs for the Nationals, who suffered their most lopsided loss since June 15 (10-3 against Arizona).

Wander Suero (2-5) faced five batters and retired only one of them. Anthony Santander and Chris Davis hit RBI singles, and Rio Ruiz delivered a sacrifice fly off Tony Sipp before Javy Guerra finally quelled the uprising.

Gabriel Ynoa (1-6) pitched 4 1/3 innings of two-hit relief to earn his first win since Sept. 21, 2017. Mychal Givens picked up his eighth save.

ROYALS 7, WHITE SOX 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Danny Duffy pitched a strong six innings and ended a nine-start winless skid, and Jorge Soler and Nicky Lopez hit back-to-back RBI singles twice as Kansas City beat Chicago.

Duffy (4-5) scattered six hits and struck out five in sending Chicago to its season-worst sixth straight loss.

The second of Soler and Lopez's consecutive two-out, RBI hits put Kansas City up 6-0 and gave Duffy some run support.

A.J. Reed hit a three-run homer, his first, with two outs in the ninth inning off Wily Peralta. Ryan Goins homered in his first major league game this season for Chicago.

Ian Kennedy completed the one-out save, his 15th in 18 opportunities.

Ivan Nova (4-9) lasted just 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs and six hits with five walks.

ASTROS 11, ANGELS 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Gerrit Cole struck out 11 over seven innings, Jake Marisnick had three hits amid a chorus of boos and Houston beat Los Angeles.

Marisnick has drawn the ire of Angels' fans this series after he ran over catcher Jonathan Lucroy in a home-plate collision July 7 in Houston.

Marisnick, who grew up in nearby Riverside, is 5 for 7 in the past two games.

Cole (10-5) pitched one-run ball and extended his major league strikeout lead with his 11th double-digit strikeout game in 21 starts.

Michael Brantley and George Springer went deep for the Astros, who had lost five of six. Houston had 12 hits the first five innings as every player in the lineup had at least one.

The Angels had their five-game winning streak snapped.

Dustin Garneau hit a solo shot off Cole in the fifth inning and added an RBI double in the ninth.

13) Spent Wednesday afternoon in Rivers Casino?s new sportsbook in Schenectady and had an excellent time; it was (kind of) like being in Las Vegas.

Not sure what they?re going to do when football starts, because it?ll be very crowded, but they?ve got betting kiosks which should help you make wagers quicker than if you wait on line.

12) Dodgers 7, Phillies 2? Long rain delay in the third inning of this game; teams play again at 1:00 this afternoon, not much turnaround time, less than 12 hours.

11) San Diego Padres have been no-hit ten times, but have never thrown one. There have been 134 no-hitters since 1969, when the Padres joined the big leagues.

Former Miami farmhand Chris Paddack took a no-hitter into the 8th inning for the Padres Wednesday night; he had to settle for a 3-2 win.

10) A?s 10, Mariners 2? Oakland hit six homers as they won Homer Bailey?s debut in green and gold. Ramon Laureano homered and made another great catch in centerfield.

9) Giants 11, Rockies 8? Colorado?s season is spinning out of control; anytime their hitters don?t put up a 10-spot (and sometimes even when they do), their pitching can?t hold up. Rockies are 2-11 in their last 13 games, outscored 108-57.

8) AAA Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado?s farm team) had 50 cent hot dog nite last night and drew 10,225 fans who bought a total of 35,174 hot dogs. Cheap food is a popular promotion.

7) Baseball stuff:
? White Sox put OF Eloy Jimenez (elbow) on the IL.
? White Sox activated C Welington Castillo from the IL.
? Phillies put OF Jay Bruce (oblique) on the IL.
? Royals put SS Adelberto Mondesi (shoulder) on the IL.

6) Arizona 19, Texas 4? Eduardo Escobar homered from both sides of the plate.

5) Atlanta Falcons are paying their defense this week; first DT Grady Jarrett got a 4-year, $68M deal, then LB Deion Jones got a 4-year, $57M extension.

4) If you do offseason NBA research, keep in mind that over the last two seasons, the Denver Nuggets are 23-8 in games decided by three-points or less.

3) With Tony Parker retiring, JJ Redick is the only active player in the NBA who has been in the league for 13+ years and has been in the playoffs every year.

2) Mets 14, Twins 4? Minnesota led 3-2 after six innings; not a good day for their bullpen.

1) Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the first time a guy walked on the moon; imagine what that must have been like? Doing something just about no one else has ever done. Amazing.

Thursday, July 18

The Dodgers and Phillies finish off their four-game set in the City of Brotherly Love in a Getaway Day game at Citizens Bank Park. The over is 4-1 in the past five for Los Angeles, and 4-1 in their past five road games while going 7-2 in the past nine away from home against right-handed starting pitchers and 16-5 in the past 21 road games against teams with a winning overall mark. However, the under is 6-1-1 in RHP Ross Stripling's past eight outings, and 4-1 in his past five on the road. For the Phillies, the under is 19-4-4 in the past 27 in Game 4 of a series, while going 3-0-1 in RHP Aaron Nola's past four home outings and 3-1-1 in his past five outings overall.

The Blue Jays and Red Sox have a battle of southpaws happening in Beantown. LHP Thomas Pannone pitches for the Jays, while struggling LHP Chris Sale works for the home team. The under is 7-2 in Toronto's past nine overall, and 7-2 in the past nine divisional games, too. The under is also 4-1 in Toronto's past five vs. LHP. For Boston, the over is 4-1 in their past five overall, and 10-3-1 in their past 14 divisional games. The over is also 3-1-1 in Sale's past five starts, and 5-0-2 in his past seven against losing teams while going 10-3-2 in his past 15 outings at Fenway. In this series, the over has hit in six of the past eight meetings in Boston, while going 3-0-1 in Sale's past four tries against the Jays.

Brewers RHP Zach Davies and Diamondbacks RHP Merrill Kelly do battle in the desert on Thursday night at 9:40 p.m. ET. The over is 5-0 in Milwaukee's past five against right-handed starting pitchers, and 6-2-1 in the past nine starts overall. The under is 20-7-2 in Davies' past 29 starts, however, and 19-7-1 across his past 27 starts against winning sides. For Arizona, it's all under all the time lately. The under is 6-2 in their past eight overall, and 6-2 in the past eight vs. RHP, too. The under is also 5-1 in the past six home outings vs. RHP. For Kelly, the under is 8-3 in his past 11 outings, too, including a perfect 4-0 in his past four at home.

Wind Report
In Thursday's action, the win will be blowing directly in from center field to home plate at Fenway Park at a 10-13 mph clip. It will be the complete opposite for the White Sox-Royals battle at Kauffman Stadium at 1:15 p.m. ET, with a jetstream of 15-18 mph blowing out to the left-center field power alley on a hot and humid day. In the late-night game, the Mets and Giants will also face a stiff 10-13 mph wind blowing out to the left-center field power alley, too.

Friday, July 19

The Rockies and Yankees kick off an interleague series at 'The Stadium'. LHP Kyle Freeland has been a disaster for Colorado lately, going 2-6 with a 7.39 ERA overall this season, and 0-1 with a 13.91 ERA in 11 innings over his past three outings with a dismal 2.45 WHIP. The over has connected in each of his past seven starts, too, including 2-0 against AL East foes. LHP J.A. Happ has been a little better, going 7-5 with a 4.93 ERA, but the over is still 2-1 over his past three starts, including eight earned runs and 11 hits over four innings in a loss at home to Houston on June 23. At home Happ has a 4-5 record and 5.98 ERA and 1.41 WHIP across 49 2/3 innings at Yankee Stadium this season.

Cardinals RHP Adam Wainwright and Reds RHP Tyler Mahle lock horns at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati on Friday. Waino (back spasms) returned from injury last time out at home against Arizona, twirling seven scoreless innings with four hits and a walk allowed in an under result. The under is 3-0 in his past three outings, and six of his past seven. The under is also 3-0 over his past three road showings. Mahle is 2-10 with a 4.82 ERA overall this season, and the over is 3-0 in his past three contests. However, he has been rather respectable at home, going 2-2 with a 3.62 ERA and 46 strikeouts in just 37 1/3 innings.

LHP Patrick Corbin works for the Nationals against All-Star RHP Mike Soroka and the Braves in suburban Atlanta. The Washington southpaw has five consecutive quality starts, all wins by the Nats, and the under has hit in each of his past three shwoings. The under is also 5-1 in his past six inside the NL East. For Soroka, he loves the night life. The All-Star is 8-0 with a 2.38 ERA, while going 10-1 with a 2.24 ERA overall. The Braves have won each of his past eight starts, but surprisingly the over is 5-2-1 over his past eight outings. The last time he faced Washington he left with a right forearm contusion, pitching two scoreless innings in what ended up as an under result.

Mets RHP Jacob deGrom and Giants RHP Tyler Beede hook up at Oracle Park in San Francisco. The over is 4-1-1 over deGrom's past six showings, and 7-2-1 across the past 10 despite the fact he carries an eight-game streak with a quality start into play. The over is 4-1 over his past five on the road, too. For Beede, he has a 5.44 ERA across 51 1/3 innings this season, and the last time he faced the Mets he allowed six runs - five eraned - and five hits with four walks over five innings, but that was an under result in a 7-0 loss in Queens on June 5.

Wind Report
The wind will be blowing out at Wrigley Field on Friday afternoon for the Padres-Cubs battle. The winds will be howling at 12-15 mph to straightaway center field. In Cleveland, the Royals and Indians will see a stiff 10-13 mph breeze blowing out to right field. It's the complete opposite across Lake Erie in Detroit, as the Jays and Tigers see a 10-13 mph wind blowing to the left-field foul pole. In all other MLB venues the winds will be rather light and variable with little to no effect.
