GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) Terance Mann scored 25 points, CJ Walker added 17 and Florida State upset No. 5 Florida 83-66 on Monday night to remain undefeated.

The Seminoles (7-0) also extended their winning streak against the Gators (5-2) to four, their longest in the 68-game history of the series.

Florida State's length and athleticism posed problems all night. The Seminoles altered shots, forced turnovers, controlled the boards and didn't allow Florida many clean looks, especially from long range.

Coach Mike White pleaded with his Gators to be more physical at halftime, but they didn't respond. Now, Florida has a two-game losing streak and questions about their lofty ranking.

The Gators entered the game with the nation's top offense, having averaged 99.6 points in their first six games. But they went cold down the stretch against top-ranked Duke in the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Oregon last week, and never found a rhythm against the Seminoles.

Florida blew a 17-point lead with 10 minutes left against the Blue Devils and lost 87-84. Big man Marvin Bagley III dominated Florida inside in that one.

The 6-foot-6 Mann was the main culprit Monday.

Mann made 11 of 17 shots and added eight rebounds. Every time Florida looked like it would make a run, Mann answered on the other end. The junior had a tip-in and two three-point plays in the final 8 minutes.

Florida guards Jalen Hudson (16 points), KeVaughn Allen (15), Egor Koulechov (11) and Chris Chiozza and were a combined 13 of 40 from the field, including 4 of 20 from 3-point range. Chiozza was scoreless until making three free throws down the stretch.

No. 23 BAYLOR 84, SAM HOUSTON STATE 56

WACO, Texas (AP) - Jo Lual-Acuil had 15 points and 11 rebounds, leading six players who scored in double figures for Baylor during a victory over Sam Houston State.

The Bears (6-2) lost their only two games last week to Top 25 opponents and slipped seven spots in the new poll released Monday.

Baylor broke open the game early with a 12-0 run that made it 24-11. Another 12-0 spurt early in the second half stretched the Bears' lead to 52-27.

Nuni Omot added 15 points and Tristan Clark had 14 on 6-of-7 shooting. Manu Lecomte scored 12 points while Jake Lindsey and Mark Vital had 11 each.

Chris Galbreath led the Bearkats (5-4) with 24 points and 10 rebounds. The senior had Sam Houston State's first eight points, but didn't score again until the second half. He was the only player in double figures for the Bearkats as they fell to 1-4 against Division I competition.

Armadillo: Tuesday's six-pack

? Steelers 23, Bengals 20? Cincy blew a 17-0 first-half lead; they had 173 yards in penalties.

? Ohio State 71, Michigan 62? Wolverines blew a 20-point first half lead.

? Wisconsin 64, Penn State 63? Badgers are just 2-5 in their last seven games.

? Indiana 77, Iowa 64? Hawkeyes are struggling at 4-5, 0-2 in conference.

? Florida State 83, Florida 66? Impressive road win for the Seminoles.

? I?m curious if the NFL puts Steelers-Bengals on in primetime again next year, after some of the vicious, WWE-type antics in last night?s game.

Tuesday, December 5

Michigan State won its last four games, by 20-18-18-29 points, over UConn, UNC, Notre Dame and Nebraska; Spartans have a parade of six cupcakes after this game for rest of the month, it figures they?ll bear down here to go 2-0 in league. Rutgers was 6-0 against stiffs, then lost its last two games, by 5 to Florida, by 22 at Minnesota. Scarlet Knights? eFG% is 8th-worst in country- they?re shooting 28.3% on arc, 42.4% inside arc. MSU is 4-0 vs Rutgers in Big 14 play, winning 71-51/97-66 in its two visits to the Garden State.

Shaka Smart returns to VCU with his Texas Longhorns, who are 5-2, with OT losses to both Duke, Gonzaga out in Oregon. Longhorns have #16 eFG% defense, but they?re shooting only 27.2% on arc, 62% on foul line- they?re #340 experience team. VCU is #197 experience team that is 5-3 with yet another new coach; Rams are 1-3 vs top 100 teams, losing by 8-11-9 points to Virginia-Marquette-Michigan. VCU?s only top 100 win was by 7 over Old Dominion. Big X favorites are 10-11 vs spread away from home; A-14 home underdogs are 2-5.

West Virginia won 66-57 at Virginia LY, after losing by 16 to Cavaliers the year before on a neutral floor. Mountaineers won last seven games since losing to Texas A&M over in Germany in their season opener. WVU is forcing turnovers 29.2% of time- they?re #231 experience team. Virginia is 8-0 with four top 100 wins, best of which were over Rhode Island/Wisconsin. UVa held its last five opponents to 55 or fewer points- their eFG% defense is 6th in country. Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; ACC underdogs are 8-10.

Texas Tech coach Beard had UNLV job for about a week in spring of 2016, bolted for Lubbock instead; this is his first game vs Nevada, UNLV?s biggest rival. Red Raiders are 6-1 after losing by 10 in a semi-road game to Seton Hall in MSG Thursday. Tech is #92 experience team whose bench plays 5th-most minutes in country. Nevada is 8-0 with four road wins and top 100 wins over Davidson, Rhode Island. Wolf Pack are making 43.1% of 3-pointers (#11). Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; Mountain West road underdogs are 6-6.

UAB beat Troy State last two years, by 16-23 points; Blazers are 3-3 vs D-I teams, after going 0-3 on Cayman Islands, losing to Richmond, Buffalo, Iowa. This is Blazers? first true road game this season- they?re experience team #132. Troy is 4-3 vs D-I teams, winning last three, by 8-31-21 points. Trojans are ##57 experience team that plays lot of guys (#48 in bench minutes); their only top 150 win was by 8 at East Tennessee St- they lost by 8 at Kentucky. Sun Belt home favorites are 3-5 against the spread; C-USA road underdogs are 9-8.

Butler won 68-59 at Utah LY, holding Utes to 3-20 on arc; Bulldogs were 7-0 at time- they?re 6-2 this season vs schedule #121 with a new coach- they?re 1-2 vs top 100 teams, losing to Maryland, Texas by double digits- they beat Ohio St in OT after trailing by 15 with 3:46 left. Utah is 6-1 with top 100 wins over Missouri/Ole Miss, but they got crushed by 27 at UNLV, going 2-20 on arc. Utah is #65 experience team that starts four seniors- their eFG% defense is #19 in country. Big East home favorites are 12-9 vs spread; Pac-12 underdogs are 10-8.

Nebraska is 6-3 after its 86-57 loss at Michigan St Sunday when Huskers shot 17.5% inside arc, 10-22 outside it. I?ve never seen a team shoot 18% inside the arc. Minnesota is 8-1 vs schedule #215; their only loss was at home to #14 Miami- they have top 40 wins over Providence and Alabama, with their win over the Friars their only true road game this season. Home side won last eight Minnesota-Nebraska games; Huskers won four of last six series games. Gophers lost their last four visits to Lincoln, by 2-4-3-25 points.

SMU won its last four games with local rival TCU by 15-5-8-3 points; Mustangs are #282 experience team that doesn?t sub much and plays pace #341, very slow. SMU is 7-2 after 72-55 home win over USC Saturday- they beat Arizona in Atlantis tourney but also lost to No Iowa, WKU there. Horned Frogs are 8-0 vs schedule #264; TCU has played six top 200 teams, but their only top 10 win is by 10 over #69 St Bonaventure on a neutral floor. Big X home favorites are 13-8 vs spread; AAC underdogs are 8-13 away from home.

South Dakota State is 7-3 vs schedule #66; they?ve beaten Ole Miss, Iowa- their losses are at Kansas by 34, by 12 to Wyoming, 20 to Missouri state, all top 100 teams. Jackrabbits are #44 experience team that is shooting 39% outside arc but only 45.4% inside arc. Wichita State is is 6-1 with only loss 67-66 to Notre Dame in Maui finals. Shockers are still missing McDuffie, one of their best players- their next two games are national level games, vs Oklahoma/Okla State. AAC home favorites are 7-8 vs spread; Summit League underdogs are 14-17.

Jimmy V Classic, Madison Square Garden
Gonzaga makes long trip east with #247 experience team and a 7-1 record, with only loss in double OT to Florida in PK80 semis. Zags have beaten Texas/Creighton since then; their eFG% is #9 in country, making 39.7% on arc. Villanova will have crowd edge; Wildcats are 8-0 with only top 80 win by 9 over Tennessee on Atlantis- they also beat Northern Iowa by 14. Big East favorites are 11-7 vs spread away from home; WCC underdogs are 5-14. Villanova is #301 experience team; only three of their first eight games were at home.

UConn is 6-2, but they needed OT to win each of last two games, vs Columbia/Monmouth. Huskies are a thin team- they?re 1-2 vs top 100 teams, beating Oregon in Portland, but then getting pasted by Arkansas/Michigan State in other two games there. Syracuse won its first six games before getting blasted by Kansas down in Florida Saturday. Orange?s best win was by hoop over Maryland at home. Syracuse is thin; they used two guys the whole 40:00 vs Kansas. ACC favorites are 18-9 vs spread away from home; AAC underdogs are 8-13 away from home.

Doubleheader at Talking Stick Arena, Phoenix
Texas A&M is 7-0 with four top 50 wins; they?ve been best team in country to this point, but beating Arizona in Phoenix will be tough. Aggies won by 16 at USC in only true road game- they?re beat West Va, Okla State, Penn St, all by double digits. A&M;s eFG% defense is #2 in country. Arizona gutted out OT win at UNLV Saturday night; three of their guys played 39:00+. Wildcats are #287 experience team that has legit NBA prospect in big guy Ayton. SEC favorites are 18-8 vs spread away from home; Pac-12 underdogs are 10-8.

St John?s is playing this game, then Arizona State in LA Friday; interesting road trip for Chris Mullin?s team. Johnnies are 7-1 vs schedule #245- they lost by 8 to Missouri down in Florida. Their best wins are over UCF, Oregon State. Check status of St John?s star LoVett, who missed their last game. Big East underdogs are 5-8 vs spread this season. Grand Canyon is 5-1 vs the 2nd-easiest schedule in country so far; best team they?ve beaten is #257 Robert Morris. Antelopes turn ball over 21.1% of time, which could be problem vs Johnnies? backcourt.

Tuesday's Tip Sheet
December 5, 2017

**Gonzaga vs. Villanova**

-- These storied programs will collide tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City at the Jimmy V Classic. As of early this morning, most betting shops had Villanova (8-0 straight up, 6-2 against the spread) installed as a five-point favorite with a total of 148.

-- Jay Wright?s team is ranked No. 1 at KenPom.com, fourth in the Associated Press?s Top 25 and 12th in the RPI Rankings. Villanova has a trio of victories over RPI Top-50 opponents, beating No. 10 Tennessee (85-76), No. 26 Northern Iowa (64-50) and No. 27 Western Kentucky (66-58). All three of these wins came at the Battle 4 Atlantis, including the spread-covering scalp of NIU in the finals on Nov. 24. The Wildcats took the cash against the Panthers as 13.5-point favorites. Junior Mikal Bridges scored a game-high 18 points, making 8-of-14 shots from the field. Bridges finished with seven rebounds, one steal, one blocked shot and one assists without committing a turnover. Jalen Brunson (6-9 FGs, 3-6 three-pointers) added 16 points, four rebounds, two steals and four assists compared to only one turnover. Phil Booth contributed 12 points, delivering one of his three treys on five launches when No. Iowa cut the deficit to six with a surge late in the second half.

-- Villanova had to overcome a 12-point halftime deficit to clip UT, once again narrowly covering the number as an eight-point ?chalk? in the 85-76 triumph. The Wildcats held the Volunteers scoreless for more than four minutes to start the second half, and they needed less than five minutes to take the lead at 50-48 on Brunson?s 3-pointer with 15:03 remaining. With 52 ticks left, Tennessee was down only three and it was behind by just six with 24 seconds remaining. But Villanova hooked up its backers when Donte DiVencenzo dunked with 14 ticks left on a run-out after a missed 3-ball by UT.

-- Since its return from the Bahamas, Wright?s team beat Penn 90-62 as a 21-point favorite on Nov. 29. Then this past Saturday, Villanova went into Hagan Arena and blasted Saint Joseph?s 94-53 as a 14.5-point road favorite. The 147 combined points slithered ?under? the 149-point total. Bridges scored a game-high 18 points to go with nine rebounds, two steals, one block and two assists without a turnover. Bridges knocked down 4-of-7 from downtown. Booth finished with 17 points, eight boards and six assists compared to merely one turnover. Omari Spellman drained 4-of-5 launches from 3-point range and finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.

-- Bridges and Brunson are both scoring at a team-high 17.9 points-per-game clip. Brunson is shooting at incredible rates both from the field (64.6%) and 3-point range (51.7%). The junior guard has a 36/9 assists-to-turnovers ratio and is averaging 1.0 steals per game. Bridges (56.7% FGs, 50.0% 3?s) has a team-high 20 steals, 11 blocks and is pulling down 6.2 RPG. -- Tip-off on ESPN is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Eastern.

**Virginia at West Virginia**

-- West Virginia (7-1 SU, 2-3 ATS) is unbeaten in four home games with a 1-0 spread record. As of early this morning, The Mountaineers were listed as 3.5-point home favorites for tonight?s showdown vs. Virginia. The total was 135.5 points.

-- These teams met at MSG in NYC two seasons ago, with UVA capturing a 70-54 win over WVU as a 4.5-point favorite. The 124 combined points dropped ?under? the 135-point total. When they met in Charlottesville last year, West Virginia won a 66-57 decision as an eight-point underdog. The 123 combined points dipped ?under? the 128.5-point total. Jevon Carter scored a team-high 11 points for the winners, and he also had five assists, three steals and a pair of rebounds.

-- Virginia (8-0 SU, 6-1 ATS) is No. 4 at KenPom.com and No. 15 in the RPI. UVA has wins over three RPI Top-70 foes, including No. 7 Rhode Island, No. 68 Wisconsin and No. 69 Monmouth. The Cavs have also won at VCU (76-67) and vs. Vanderbilt (68-42 at Barclays Arena). They beat Rhode Island 70-55 as 6.5-point ?chalk,? with the 125 combined points stayed ?under? the 125.5-point tally. UVA knocked off the Rams in Brooklyn thanks to 19 points and six rebounds from Isaiah Wilkins. Devon Hall added 18 points.

-- Kyle Guy, the junior UVA guard, is scoring at a team-high 16.6 PPG clip. He is hitting 45.5 percent of his 3-point shots. Hall (11.8 PPG, 4.0 RPG) has buried 43.5 percent of his launches from long distance and has made 95.2 percent of his FTs.

-- Tony Bennett?s squad has covered the spread in six straight lined games. UVA won its only true road assignment at VCU by nine as a 6.5-point favorite. This is the Cavs? first game as underdogs this year.

-- Bob Huggins?s team has ripped off seven consecutive victories since getting smashed 88-65 by Texas A&M in its opener. The Aggies, who are currently atop the RPI Rankings, won in blowout fashion at Ramstein Air Force Base in a neutral-court contest.

-- WVU is ranked 13th at KenPom.com and No. 25 in the RPI. The Mountaineers own a pair of quality scalps over Missouri (83-79) and UCF (83-45). Both of those wins came at the Advocare Invitational in Lake Buena Vista, FL, including their finals triumph over the Tigers. Carter helped WVU overcome a five-point intermission deficit by scoring a game-high 29 points. Carter had four steals, four rebounds and three assists. He drained five jumpers from 3-point territory. Daxter Miles Jr. added 26 points thanks to 14-of-15 shooting from the charity stripe.

-- Carter leads the Mountaineers in scoring (19.0 PPG), assists (5.5 APG) and steals (4.5 SPG). Miles, who scored a season-best 32 points in a blowout win over Morgan State, is averaging 14.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

-- WVU is ranked 16th in the country in scoring (89.6 PPG).

-- The ?under? is 5-2 overall for the Cavs, but the ?over? hit in their only prior road game. They?ve seen the ?under? prevail in four straight outings.

-- The ?over? is 3-2 overall for WVU, but the ?under? cashed in its lone lined home game.

-- ESPNU will provide the telecast at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.

**B.E.?s Bonus Nuggets**

-- FSU went into the O-Dome on Monday night and trounced Florida 83-66 as a nine-point road underdog, hooking up money-line supporters with a sweet +375 payout (paid $375 on $100 wagers). The Seminoles beat UF a fourth straight time for the first time in the 68-year history of the hoops rivalry. They dominated the glass to the tune of a 51-34 advantage. Terance Mann led FSU with 25 points and eight rebounds. The ?Noles improved to 7-0, while UF fell to 5-2 with both of its losses coming to ACC opponents. Jalen Hudson had a team-best 16 points for the Gators in the losing effort.

-- Florida had seen the ?over? hit in all five of its lined games, but the 149 combined points fell ?under? the 164.5-point total. UF head coach Mike White told the media at his postgame presser, ?Tonight was the epitome of soft. They threw the first three or four punches and did not let up. Last year?s team was a lot tougher than this year?s team. This year?s team is a lot more skilled and scores better.?

- -- Wisconsin picked up a much-needed 64-63 win Monday night at Penn State. The Badgers won outright as five-point underdogs to improve to 4-5 on the season. They cashed money-line tickets in the +190 range.

-- The late game at the Jimmy V Classic will tip approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of Gonzaga-Villanova. This matchup will feature a pair of former Big East rivals UConn (6-2 SU, 1-4 ATS) and Syracuse (6-1 SU, 2-4 ATS). As of early this morning, most spots had the Orange listed as a five-point favorite. The total was 131.5 points for this game that?ll be televised on ESPN.

-- The ?under? is 5-1 overall for the ?Cuse, which is off its first loss of the season. Kansas knocked off the Orange 76-60 as a 10-point favorite in Miami at American Airlines Arena.

-- Syracuse guard Geno Thorpe left the program for personal reasons, the school announced Friday before facing KU. Thorpe was a grad transfer from South Florida who averaged 15.1 PPG for the Bulls last season. He played in six games for the ?Cuse, averaging 6.0 PPG in an average of 14.3 minutes of playing time. Thorpe played a season-low four minutes in his last game for the Orange, a 72-70 win over Maryland last week.

-- UConn redshirt freshman guard Alterique Gilbert is in danger of missing a third straight game due to shoulder soreness. Gilbert, who is listed as ?questionable,? is averaging 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He was scoring at a 10.3 PPG clip before underdoing season-ending shoulder surgery last December.

LaVar Ball: Withdrawing suspended son to prepare for NBA
December 5, 2017

LOS ANGELES (AP) The father of UCLA guard LiAngelo Ball says he's withdrawing his son from school so he can prepare to play in the NBA. LaVar Ball says in a TV interview his ''grand plan'' is for all three sons to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.

LiAngelo, along with fellow freshmen Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, have been indefinitely suspended for their participation in a shoplifting incident during the Bruins' trip to China last month. They are barred from all team activities.

LaVar Ball is taking his son's future into his own hands.

''I'm going to get Gelo in shape, I'm going to work him out, we're going to do some other things and he's going to be headed to the NBA,''' he told ''Access Hollywood'' in an interview aired Tuesday on the ''Today'' show.

''The grand plan stays the same: All these boys are going to get on the Lakers. Watch how I do this. People will look up and they say, `Wow, how'd they all get on the Lakers?'''

LiAngelo is the middle child of Ball's three sons. Oldest son Lonzo is a rookie with the Lakers after playing one successful season at UCLA. The elder Ball pulled his youngest son, LaMelo, out of Chino Hills High recently in favor of home schooling him.

LiAngelo Ball never played a regular-season game for the Bruins (7-1), who fell out of the Top 25 last week.

Although the school has said only that the suspensions are indefinite, the ''Access Hollywood'' interview mentioned the period was for two to three months.

''That's the whole season pretty much,'' LiAngelo said in the TV interview. ''That's just a long time of doing nothing. I'd rather be playing.''

LiAngelo said the players were in jail for 1 + days.

''It was horrible,'' he said. ''They take your clothes, you wear like whatever they have for you, a little jumpsuit or whatever, take your shoestrings and you just sit in a cement cell for however long. It's just you and the officers and they don't speak English.''

UCLA coach Steve Alford said in a statement on Monday that he learned of Ball's intention to withdraw that day.

''We respect the decision he and his family have made, and we wish him all the best in the future,'' Alford said in the statement.

Alford indicated last week that he expected the fate of the three suspended players to be resolved in the near term.

''China already said, `OK, you made a bad mistake, we're going to drop the charges.' That's the punishment they made,'' LaVar said in the TV interview. ''Now we over here, we got to serve some more punishment? He apologized. What is the long process for? We only went to UCLA one and done.''

Alford said he and his staff were communicating with the players via text messages and calls, mostly to see if they are attending classes. The players are allowed to use athletic facilities, including the weight room, but aren't working directly with the coaching staff, he said.

Video posted online recently showed Ball playing a pickup game against LaMelo.

Ball, Hill and Riley publicly apologized for shoplifting while reading prepared statements at a campus news conference on Nov. 15.

''People started taking stuff and me just not thinking and being with them, I took something too,'' LiAngelo said in the TV interview. ''We left thinking we would just get away, you know how kids think. I didn't realize until I got back to my hotel that was stupid but by then it was too late and then sure enough the next morning the police came and got us.''

LaVar Ball and President Donald Trump have engaged in a public war of words since the three players returned from China. Ball minimized Trump's involvement in winning the players' release and Trump tweeted in response that he should have left the players in China in jail. The men's exchanges escalated from there, with Trump calling Ball ''an ungrateful fool.''

LaVar told ''Access Hollywood'' he sent Trump three pair of Big Baller shoes in red, white and blue.

Arizona hangs on to beat No. 7 Texas A&M 67-64
December 6, 2017

PHOENIX (AP) Deandre Ayton had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Arizona held on to beat No. 7 Texas A&M 67-64 on Tuesday night.

Arizona (6-3) picked up a big win against UNLV on Saturday and notched an even bigger one in front of a pro-Wildcats crowd that made Talking Stick Arena feel like McKale Center west.

It wasn't easy.

Texas A&M (7-1) pulled within 63-62 on Tyler Davis' jump-hook with 17 seconds left. Brandon Randolph twice hit 1 of 2 free throws, sandwiched around a travel by Davis, and Duane Wilson was fouled on a 3-point attempt with 2 seconds left. He made two after missing the first attempt, and Dylan Smith made two at the other end to put Arizona up 67-64.

Texas A&M's Robert Williams missed badly on a long 3-pointer to send the Wildcats rushing off the bench and the Aggies to their first defeat.

Davis led the Aggies with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

BALL ST 80, NO. 9 NOTRE DAME 77

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Tayler Persons hit a 3-pointer from the left wing with 1.7 seconds remaining and Ball State shocked No. 9 Notre Dame.

Persons scored 24 points, Tahjai Teague added 13 and Sean Sellers had 11 as Ball State knocked off a nationally ranked opponent for the first time since downing No. 4 UCLA 91-73 more than 16 years ago.

Notre Dame (7-2) lost a nonconference home game for the first time since falling to North Dakota State four years ago.

The Cardinals (5-4) led by a high of 67-58 with 6:45 to go, but the Irish charged all the way back to a 77-77 tie on Matt Farrell's 3-pointer with 20 seconds to go.

NO. 1 DUKE 124, ST. FRANCIS (PA.) 67

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Freshman Marvin Bagley III had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 1 Duke scored 71 points in the first half of its rout of St. Francis (Pa.).

Marques Bolden had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Wendell Carter Jr. had 15 points and Gary Trent Jr. and Grayson Allen both finished with 14 points for the Blue Devils (11-0).

They dominated every line in the box score - setting a school record with 34 assists, shooting 60 percent and building a 61-25 rebounding advantage over a St. Francis team that has only one player taller than 6-foot-9.

Three players - Andre Wolford, Jamaal King and Keith Braxton - scored 13 points each for the Red Flash (3-5), who have lost three of four.

NO. 3 MICHIGAN ST 62, RUTGERS 52

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Miles Bridges scored 21 points and No. 3 Michigan State overcame its worst offensive performance of the season with a victory over surprising Rutgers.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored all 11 of his points in the second half and had eight of the Spartans' season-high 13 blocks in helping Michigan State (8-1, 2-0 Big Ten) post its seventh straight win. Joshua Langford added 15 points.

Rutgers (6-3, 0-2) made Michigan State work for this one, holding the Spartans to season lows in points and shooting percentage (38.6). The previous low was 63 points and 40 percent shooting against North Carolina.

What Michigan State did well was play defense. It came into the game with the nation's best field goal defense (34.2) and it held the Scarlet Knights to 25.8 percent shooting from the field (17 of 66).

NO. 4 VILLANOVA 88, NO. 12 GONZAGA 72

NEW YORK (AP) - Mikal Bridges had his coming out performance as one of top players in the nation, scoring a career-high 28 points to lead No. 4 Villanova over No. 12 Gonzaga in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Bridges, a 6-foot-7 junior guard, had shown Villanova (9-0) what he could do this season with three games of 20-plus points that already signaled he may be the best player on the Big East champs.

Against an NCAA title game finalist and in prime time on basketball's biggest stage, Bridges flashed the type of all-around talent that should make him an NBA first-round draft pick.

Zach Norvell Jr. led Gonzaga (7-2) with 22 points and Perkins had 16.

NO. 6 WICHITA ST 95, SOUTH DAKOTA ST 85

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Landry Shamet had 21 points and eight assists, Shaquille Morris added 20 points and No. 6 Wichita State rallied to beat scrappy, hot-shooting South Dakota State.

Conner Frankamp added 16 points, setting the school record by hitting a 3 in his 30th straight game, and the Shockers (7-1) slowly dug out of a 13-point second-half hole to beat the Jackrabbits (7-4) for their 23rd consecutive victory at Koch Arena.

Mike Daum hit seven 3-pointers and poured in 31 points for South Dakota State, wowing a number of pro scouts who turned out for the game. But he got into foul trouble and cooled off down the stretch, and the Jackrabbits couldn't find enough offense from anybody else to hang with the Shockers.

NO. 18 WEST VIRGINIA 68, NO. 15 VIRGINIA 61

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Jevon Carter had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Lamont West scored 22 points and No. 18 West Virginia sent No. 15 Virginia to its first loss.

Daxter Miles Jr. added 12 points for the Mountaineers (8-1).

Devon Hall led Virginia (8-1) with 19 points and Kyle Guy added 18, all in the second half.

For the second straight year, West Virginia made it difficult for the Cavaliers to get into a consistent offensive rhythm. Guy missed his first six shots, then hit six 3-pointers in the second half as Virginia overcame an eight-point deficit.

NO. 10 MIAMI 69, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 54

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Freshman Lonnie Walker IV scored a season-high 26 points and No. 10 Miami surged in the second half to beat Boston University.

Walker, making his first career start, shot 9 for 15, went 5 for 7 from 3-point range and added seven rebounds in a season-high 28 minutes.

Dejan Vasiljevic had 15 points for Miami (8-0), which remained unbeaten in non-conference home games since November 2015. Boston U (3-4) still hasn't beaten a ranked team since 1959.

NEBRASKA 78, NO. 14 MINNESOTA 68

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Glynn Watson Jr. scored 20 of his 29 points in the second half and Nebraska opened up a 16-point lead early in the second half en route to a win over No. 14 Minnesota.

Watson scored seven straight points to open the second half, and Duby Okeke's dunk put Nebraska (7-3, 1-1 Big Ten) up 48-32 with 15:35 left.

Minnesota (8-2, 1-1) made two of its first 10 shots in the half and struggled against the Huskers' switching man-to-man defense.

NO. 20 TCU 94, SMU 83

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Kenrich Williams had 27 points to lead five TCU players in double figures, and got tackled after a steal and breakaway toward the basket as the 20th-ranked Horned Frogs extended the nation's longest winning streak to 14 games.

The Frogs (9-0) were already starting to separate themselves midway through the second half when Williams came up with an SMU turnover. The 6-foot-7 guard was going the other way when Ben Emelogu caught up from behind and essentially dragged him to the court.

After the flagrant foul, Williams made one free throw and TCU kept possession. After several passes, Desmond Bane hit a 3-pointer from the left wing in front of the Frogs' bench that put them up 67-56.

SMU (7-3) was coming off a 17-point home win over then-No.14 Southern Cal just three days earlier.

TEXAS TECH 82, NO. 22 NEVADA 76

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Keenan Evans scored 25 of his career-high 32 points in the second half and overtime and Texas Tech rallied from 11 points down in the second half to beat No. 22 Nevada.

Caleb Martin scored a season-high 28 points and twin brother Cody Martin matched his best of the season with 22 in the Wolf Pack's first game as a ranked team since 2007. Nevada (8-1) was off to its best start as a Division I school (since 1970).

The Red Raiders (7-1) went without a field goal for the final five minutes of regulation but made six straight free throws down the stretch, including two from Justin Gray with 23 seconds left to force overtime at 70-70.
