Poon,
Seems like a lot of value with Indy at +150ish. Do u know any compelling stats on these 2 starters that I don't see already?

Thanks in advance and good luck, riding the under with u

If you just look at their ERA?s they are pretty similar but if you dig deeper I think there is advantage for Boyd. If you look at WHIP, OBA and K/IP you will see he has better figures. Also you need to consider their level of competition. Pac-12 was one of the tougher leagues while the Big Ten is basically a mid-major in baseball. The RPI of those two conferences is 3 vs. 6. Though I think that 6 is a little deceiving as it is helped by Nebraska who was 31 in the nation despite having a losing record (they scheduled ridiculously tough out of conference but basically got wiped and built up their wins in conference).

Other things to consider is that OSU is the best competition that Slegers has faced all year. He didn?t face Ville when Indy played them during the season. The two toughest teams he pitched against this year is Florida and FSU, and he didn?t fare well really in either.

Boyd was OSU?s Friday night guy all year, so he has experience in the spotlight and should respond well in my opinion.

GL whatever you play.

Good day yesterday going 2-0 picking up 8 units. Slegers was really good but Boyd was just dominant.

CWS Record: 8-6 for +13.51 units
Updated YTD Record: 112-97 for +44.77 units
Futures for the CWS have been  . 0-4 thus far for -3.5 units with OSU to win it all outstanding. Will add those to the record once OSU is done playing.

Chucky ? you can request my email from Jack or IE or leave yours in my reputation.

Small plays for today:
UNC -1.5 -130 (vs. NC St) for 1 unit
UNC/NC St Under 9 +105 for 1 unit

For tomorrow:
OSU -135 (vs. MS St) for 2 units
OSU/MS St Under 8.5 -125 for 2 units

is Plutko pitching for UCLA?
Update: UCLA, undefeated in two World Series games, has a safety net. A victory sends the Bruins to the best-of-three World Series final. A loss forces a second game Saturday in the double-elimination tournament. That allows Coach John Savage options. He will hold back ace Adam Plutko, who is 6-0 in seven career postseason games. Grant Watson (8-3, 3.22 earned-run average) will probably take his normal turn, though Savage said he might go with Cody Poteet (4-6, 4.84). "If we had lost, we would have had to bring Adam back," Savage said. "This gives him another day of rest." UCLA has had two days off, giving closer David Berg some recovery time. He saved the first two games, giving him 23 saves this season, and needs one more to set an NCAA season record. North Carolina was the top-seeded team in the tournament but had to claw back from the losers' bracket after dropping the opener to North Carolina State. The Tar Heels are expected to start ace Kent Emanuel (11-4, 3.22 ERA).

2-2 on Friday getting the Unders and missing the sides. Sorry big papi but I was travelling and didn?t see your follow up post about the OSU/MS St pitching matchup.

CWS Game Plays: 12-8 for +14.26 units
CWS Futures: 0-5 for -4.5 units
Updated YTD Record: 116-104 for +41.02 units

For Monday:

UCLA +105 (vs. MS St) for 3 units ? Bulldogs have the bats but pitching has proven to be an equal if not bigger equalizer. Plutko as a dog in this position is kind of hard to comprehend so I?ll take it.
UCLA/MS St Over 6 -130 for 1 unit ? first time playing an over in this year?s CWS. Wind still blowing in, just think there will be enough given up to get there.
UCLA +105 to win CWS for 3 units ? the fact that the Bruins were able to get out of their bracket only throwing Plutko one time is huge. Bulldogs best pitcher Graveman threw their clincher on Friday. If he throws on Tuesday it will be on three days rest and I think that will be enough to counter his effectiveness.

So far so good, Poon. Good job. Go, Bruins.

Really just wanted to thank u for sharing. If u ever want an underling to help out on some of the quant analysis, just let me know. I have some pretty good ideas on how to adjust for strength of schedule.

You and Fast Eddie are doing awesome. Out of curiosity, which teams did u rate the strongest? Obviously, one WS can produce surprises and this one has. Would you guys rate Oreg St and LSU the strongest going in? LSU was 57-9 out of the SEC - crazy!

I do enjoy watching UCLA. I'll be pullin for em.

Going into the post-season I thought Vandy and LSU were 1 & 2, splitting hairs trying to choose one over the other for the top spot. I thought UNC and Oregon State were behind them. After that I thought there was a decent drop off and a whole bunch of teams that you could rank anywhere from 5 ? 16. Ville is a really good team, but still surprised they handled Vandy in 2 games. As for LSU, the choice not to pitch Eades in that elimination game may be the biggest coaching blunder I can recall.

UCLA reminds me of the Texas teams of last decade that couldn?t hit really but could certainly pitch and play D. If you do those two things extremely well, it will get you far even if your team batting avg. is south of .250.

1-1 last night getting the larger play on the UCLA side. Not going to play a side tonight as I think the edge is with UCLA but I already have the series wager. I?m guessing MS State goes with Graveman for a few innings to start, but who knows how effective he will be. No matter who the starter is, the Bulldogs will do their typical plan of going to the pen early. Just a small play on the total today:

MS St/UCLA Over 5.5 -125 for 1.5 units ? despite the small ball game of UCLA and the wind still blowing in, there were still plenty of chances to score last night that the teams just didn?t cash in on. Think they will do so tonight.

Pollorena is starting for MSU... Ballsy move by Cohen

Cohen obviously knows his staff. Not many guy's have applied his approach of using the staff so evenly like he has. Some coaches will do it for Sunday and mid-week games, but Cohen used that approach more than anyone I can recall.
