Big three for Canes will come up here in the top of the ninth with all three being 0-4 today. That scares me as you would think they would be due. Hopefully my write up on their youth will be right on here.

SMS's manager is showing his inexperience. I can't believe he didn't have Brinkley bunt in the 7th. Now he lets Zimmerman start the 9th. They don't deserve to win!

I agree, but they still have hope.....they are the cinderella team and they still have their last at bat. The failed pickoff throw to 1st in the 3rd inning hurt as the next guy ended up grounding to second with what would have been a great double play opportunity. Then the passed ball in the 4th with 2 outs and bases loaded that scored a run hurt! 2 big foul ups in 2 different innings that resulted in 2 runs that shouldn't have crossed the plate.....BUT THIS IS THE CWS!

Well Livin' Large,

There is what happens when you play baseball the way its supposed to be played. Bunt to move the runner over, single scores him to go 2 up! Put on your rally cap!

Oh well. We gave it hell. Congrats to the Miami backers you got your money's worth with a good game: winner! SMS made some mistakes that Miami made them pay for and Miami outcoached the fiesty Cinderella team. They made it interesting in the bottom half of 8 but it wasn't enough! That brings me to 4-1 +13 units with all three of my teams to win it all still without a loss. That will of coarse change in today's game 2 as I have units on both Texas and Rice to win it as I explained that it was IMO that one of these two teams would represent their bracket in the championship and Fullerton would represent the other so I placed units on them as well. The way I did the money would provide for positive units for any of the three to win it, but I plan on making the majority of my cash on the individual games. I am going to start my write up on game 2 now which should be up shortly. Looking to really make some dough in the games to come over the next couple days and will be in this thread as often as I can this week to post my opinions as well as listen to all the opinions, picks, and analysis of all you other great cappers who love the thrill of this hobby as much as I do!!!!

Back soon,

This next game could be one of the better up until the championship. The two inner-state teams (Texas and Rice) had one game cancelled due to cold weather in Austin while the other end in a 2-1 Rice win in Houston. 2nd Team All American Townsend will get the start, he pitched in the last game these two had this year where he pitched 8 innings, fanning 12 while giving up only 1 run on 4 hits. Will Texas be better vs him the second time around? One team has 7 .300 hitters (Texas) while the other has 8 (Rice). Both are similar in their styles of offense, not a ton of long ball threat with leading home run producer for Rice (Enrique Cruz with 10 and Texas Majewski with 12). Rice has 45 HR within starting lineup while Texas has 47. This is a very hard game to wager on as it will simply come down to the smallest of things to determine tonights winner. Sure on paper one would see a huge match up disadvantage with tonights starting pitchers. Both Solphmores, Townsend has the more dominating numbers on this years season.....BUT don't forget Justin Simmons heroics only a year ago on this field in Omaha! My local has the lines set at Rice (Number 1 Ranked Team in the Country in polls) -140 and Texas (Last Years National Champ and #8 ranked team in a poll) +120. Really IMO the value play would be with Rice! With the Owls you will be getting a team with more depth in batting avgs throughout the lineup, a more proven proven pitcher on the year in Townsend, with a little more depth available for relief EXCEPT if it comes down to a close game in the latter part of the 7th where Texas will have the advantage with Huston Street. But don't discredit David Aardsma who the San Francisco Giants made their 1st Round Pick! VERY TOUGH GAME TO FIND A CLEAR CUT ADVANTAGE ON. After factoring in all this you then have a longhorns team that is undefeated on this field the last 2 years. Won a regular season game there this year as well as thrashing over Miami in game 1. Rice on the other hand got the monkey off their back by winning their first game in a close battle with SMS, who Miami beat today. Still after that win Rice is only 2-6 here in Omaha. People have also made the argument of Revenge for Texas for the 2-1 loss this year. BUT believe me RICE wants revenge too for last years Texas win here in the CWS. All in all this will be a small play. My heart wants Texas my head says Rice tonight. If Rice loses they will be a great play throughout because of their pitching depth, BUT I have to go with my head over my heart here.....If Texas wins I will be very happy as I am a huge Horns fan, if they lose I will be sad but +2 units will help ease the pain! Here are tonights probable starting lineups and numbers.

RICE -140 2 units

5-1 +15 units!!!

Todays Game 1 (Stanford vs. South Carolina)

Stanford and South Carolina rematch to see who stays in Omaha another night. I look for South Carolina to be a lot of trouble here. In game one they threw Machbanks for 3.1 and he got banged up for 7 hits and 6 earned runs, then they came with Campbell and later Harnanadez who went 2.1 and 1.1 giving up a total of 5 hits, 2 earned runs and 5 walks with 5 K's, Campbell pitched again Sunday for 5.1 so he will be more then likely unavailable. Their Senior captain Steven Bondurant started Sunday and only lasted 2.1 so he might be available for a few innings but doubtfully. They have a lot of room for improvement with their pitching staff pitching from behind the count. IMO They just don't have any depth at Pitcher and I see it really hurting them here vs. a VERY balanced club in Stanford. Stanford has only had to use 4 Total pitchers (only 2 relievers who worked 1 inn and 1.2 inn) while SC has used 4 that have had to throw 11.1 innings). For South Carolina to even have a chance they would have to get much better offensively. Only 2 hits in game 1 vs. Stanford and though they looked better in the game vs. LSU, I was not impressed with LSU pitching at all! Stanford on the other hand 12 hits vs. the Gamecocks in Gm1 and 7 vs Fullerton in their second game. Stanford is the better team IMO, had more balance overall, and had WON 13 in a row before losing to Cal State Fullerton by only 1 run (6-5) in a game that lead after 5 innings and were tied after 6. They have won 22 of their last 24 as well.

My local had this game at Stanford -170 but I waited to long and got it at -180. Still good value IMO as I just don't see the Cardinal going home yet!

Standford -180 5 units

I do not. ncaasports.com usually has it posted by now but they do not as I am writing this. ESPN coverage starts at 1:00 pm central and most books will close on the game at 1:05. I am working from home today to watch so I will post as soon as I get it.

Best of Luck,

WOW, my book has just gone from -180 to Stanford -220 and South Carolina +195. This is nuts. I could make a "value" argument to go with South Carolina at this price. I really don't see Stanford losing this game, BUT at +195.....IT IS THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES, anything can happen and its always tough to beat any team twice.....I was pissed that I didn't jump on it when it was -170, NOW I am glad that I got it at -180, BUT if I had waited I would probably wait right up to game time to see if I could get South Carolina at +200 and play a small 2 unit "value play" on them! I would recommend the small 2 unit plays on +195 and above for SC and Stanford at -180 and below.

Final Play

Stanford wagered 9 units to win 5 units (-180)

South Carolina wagers 2 units to win 3.9 units (+195)

Had to do it!
