So Cal
BTP - in total agreement. You have a very sound team in fundamentals with Texas going against a team that has looked weak in many areas thus far. I think Texas is a solid play.

6-1 +18 units (could have won 5 units here as it was played for
5 units at -180 but when book went to +195 for
SC I put 2 units on SC to slim my odds on Stan in
case of upset). All around balanced team
effort surfaced with stanford as I assumed.)

Game 2 Today (Miami vs. Texas) Meet for 2nd time in this CWS

Miami should be happy to still be here. They beat a team that was projected as the Cinderella team that many gave "no chance" to win in this years CWS. Now they will try to get revenge on a Texas team that put it to them in their Game 1 (13-2). The key to beat Texas was shown yesterday by the Rice Owls.....PATIENCE!!! This isn't good this cane team that is loaded with YOUTH! Proof....Game 1, Sure Miami lost 13-2, but only 5 of those were earned leaving 8 unearned on 5 ERRORS! Texas was very good at the plate tagging 4 of the 6 pitchers they saw in the game for 15 hits. Obviously Miami was not paitent in the field but they showed no patience at the plate either only getting 7 hits while fanning 12 times. Add to all these factors that they may be searching for revenge from what the Horns did to them, BUT Texas has some frustrations to release after last nights drumming from Rice as well. This Texas team has played well in these do or die, back against the wall, come from behind situations the last two years. Most recently losing in the Big 12 Tournament only to come back to win the championship as well as dropping a game to Lamar in the Regionals only to come back strong to move on to the Super Regionals to play the nations #1 ranked team on their home field. They have won 5 of their last 6 games in Omaha and I look for them to beat Miami to get that shot at Revenge on the Rice Owls. Texas' last 7 losses were followed by a win, outscoring opponets 42-19 this year in those victories.

Favorites are now 8-1 in this years CWS. Only upset was Gamecocks over LSU!

SO LHP Brandon Camardese will get the call for the Hurricanes. Texas feasts on Lefties. Camardese numbers may look pretty good, but look further and I see a couple of worries for cane fans. First is the fact that he is a lefty vs. a Texas team who has lefties very well this year. Secondly, sure he has a 9-1 record, but thats in 17 starts....so he has 7 no decisions? He has pitched 83.2 Innings given up 87 hits while striking out 62 compared to 39 free passes. He has a 4.95 ERA. His last 2 outings:

(W) NC State 11-5 5 innings, 1 hit, 2 r, 2 er, 4 walks, 4 K's
(L) Florida 15-5 3.1 innings, 8 hit, 8r, 7 er, 3 walks, 1 K

Texas will come with probably either Sr. RHP Danny Muegge or maybe Freshman RHP Brent Cox who has been used as a reliever most of the year but has come in early in games to pitch 5+ innings. Who knows what Augie will do with his hat full of tricks, but my money will be on him and the Defending Champ Texas Longhorns to stay around another night in Omaha!

Texas -140 5 units

Today's Game 1 Rematch (Stanford vs Cal State Fullerton)

These two teams have met 4 times already this year with Cal State coming out on top all 4 times. They swept a 3 game series very early in the year (Jan 31-Feb 2). Game one in that series actually had todays 2 projected starters on the hill in Hudgins for Stanford and Littleton for Cal State. Here are there numbers for that game:

Hudgins: 6 inn, 10 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned runs, 0 BB, 3 K's
Littleton: 5.1 in, 8 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned runs, 3 BB, 6 K's

Cal State then came with Tucker who pitched 2.2 inn, giving up 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks and fanned 3. He picked up the win while Cordero got the save. Final 7-3. Game 2's final was 10-2 and game 3 was 8-2.

This team can flat out HIT and Score! IMO Hudgins is not strong enough to get the win here. He is good but this Fullerton team is playing with confidence and wants to get to the Championship resting Windsor and Miller. The difference will be in the bull pens, here is what Fullerton will bring:

"The Titans pitching staff has been extremely reliable this season. Combined, Cal State Fullerton pitchers are averaging less than two walks per nine innings and have not given up a three-run homer or grand slam. Of the 32 homers allowed, 22 were solo shots and 10 were two-run blasts.

The bullpen is arguably the deepest in the nation and the numbers back that claim. Entering super-regional play, Cal State Fullerton relievers had combined to post a 17-4 record and miniscule 2.18 ERA.

All-America closer Chad Cordero receives most of the glory as the nation's active career saves leader with more than 30. The junior right-hander, nicknamed "Chief," had a 23-inning scoreless streak snapped when he gave up a run to Long Beach State in the last weekend of the regular season. "

I like Fullerton Today to take care of a Stanford team that has to have a small amount of psych going against them as they are 0-4 vs this Fullerton team this year!

Fullerton -140 5 units

I will not be able to get back to the computer before Game 2. But unless Nieman pitches which I DON'T expect him to I will play a small 2 unit "value play" on Texas at a whopping +180 with my local. I like 2 units on the dog for anything from +160 up. I suspect they will see the combination of Philip Humber and Josh Baker who are both VERY GOOD, but -210 favorites, come on! Townsend was only -140 and he has way better stuff. Texas is a great team when their backs are against the wall. If they win this one we should be set up for a very strong play with Nieman going vs Texas in the next one!

Texas +180 2 units (unless Nieman goes then PASS)

Well, 0-2 last night on daily games and lost my first of three Teams to win the championship bet with Texas exiting after a great game vs. Rice last night. That brings my CWS totals so far to:

Daily Games 7-3 +14 units
To Win CWS 0-1 -2.5 units
TOTAL 7-4 +11.5 units

Still Pending

Rice to win CWS 5 units to win 13.75
CSF to win CWS 5 units to win 12.50

Back later with tonights game (Stanford vs. Cal State). With Nieman and Townsend now set, rested, and ready to go I really feel RICE will win this years CWS. If your book updates odds to win daily then I would grab them now in case Stanford upset CSF tonight (odds should be better with CSF still in the picture). If your odds don't update daily then I am sure you will have a series line after tonights championship game is determined and I will be back to post not only championship daily games but series as well.

Back later today,

Jason Windsor: 21 games, 10 starts, 10wins, 2 losses, 84.0 inn,
65 hits, 18 walks, 69 K's, 1.82 ERA

Matt Manship 22 games, 1 start, 2 wins, 4 losses, 9 saves,
53.1 innings, 42 hits, 22 walks, 45 K's 3.54 ERA

Manship's numbers vs Cal State this year .1 innings, 1 hit, 4 runs, 3 earned, 2 walks, no K's

Manship's last 4 games overall: 4.2 innings, 3 hits, 7 runs, 6 earned, 4 walks, 3 K's

Windsor vs Stanford this year (1 time in relief) 2 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 earned, 1 walk, 3 K's

Windsors last 4 overall: 27 innings, 18 hits, 6 runs, 3 earned, 5 walks, 21 K's

Cal State was swept once this year by UC Irvine, THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THEY HAVE LOST BACK TO BACK GAMES THIS ENTIRE YEAR.

Manship has only started ONCE this year. Stanford is 1-4 vs Cal State this year.

I am sticking with The Titans from Cal State Fulerton here. Stanford's fatigue will start to show tonight against Cal State's Ace. The chalk is the way it is for a reason!

CAL STATE -180 5 units (would have made it a 10 unit play
had it been around 140-150)
