I've heard that procedure makes you feel great because of all of the junk that they get out. Not that I'm looking forward to having it done, but I have heard that it is worth the distress.

I'm in the same boat. Doc says got to have it done at 50. I'm going to make sure I schedule my annual physical a week before my 50th birthday this summer and hope I can put it off for another year.

i've talked to people i trust that say it's nothing at all and i've talked to people i trust that say it's the worst thing that ever happened to them.

you're asleep during the procedure but that scares me in itself. i've heard horror stories about being put to sleep too.

christ!

i voted Beantown Jim.
I have never had a hose shoved up my balloon knot. That said i did enjoy watching Katie Couric get hers done a few years back. I was also part of the syndicate who came in second in the bidding on ebay for the tubing that did Katie dirty. We did later win the auction for a certain Florida womans feeding tube so all was not lost. Penquin obviously your best bet is to ask Marine, who knows all about anal invasions whether it be for pleasure or necessity.
Here are some suggestions to make your doctor think twice before he or she tries to give you the hold candid camera up the cornhole.
#1 They want you to fast 12 hours and take some harsh laxatives to make sure your bowels have been evacuated.
I say hogwash. Eat Mexican for two days straight and no potty for you!!
#2 Take those laxatives while in the waiting room of the creep who wants to take your manhood.

# 3 As soon as the hose makes contact with your bung, relax and let her rip.
# 4 run out of the office with your pants around your ankles screaming you have been raped.

Good luck

Have it done. There is nothing to the procedure. If polyps are removed before becoming malignant, it is a hell of a lot better than surgery to remove all or part of your colon. I was 46 when I was diagnosed with colon cancer.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you now and how is your health?

nothing at all to the procedure, what i hated was drinking all that gallon of crap to clean you out.
don;t be very far from the bathroom when you start drinking it.

i drank about 2/3 of it and quit, had enough of it and had no problems.

i woke up towards the end of it and watch on the tv screen as the doc took a polup off, never felt a thing.

50 is the magic age, but i had this done about two years ago, when i was 37. went in for a full physical, got all kinds of tests, and the doc found blood in my stool sample. not much, but wanted me to get it done for safety sake, checking for pollups? i believe. went in, had the procedure - was out cold for the whole thing. found absolutely nothing - was clean as a whistle...so to speak. was on my way home within 3 hours - couldn't drive - so my girl picked me up.

very little discomfort after the procedure - maybe lasted for 24-36 hours.

the biggest problem for me was the sh*t you have to drink the night before the procedure. basically a gallon of this heavy liquid - heavy meaning kinda syrupy - had a choice of flavors, but can't recall what was recommended to me - regardless, still tasted like crap. - 8 oz. at a time - every twenty minutes until it's gone (think the timing is right).

well, once you start sh*tting, you don't stop. was on the john the whole time i was drinking the stuff, until i finished the gallon. was still going for about 30-40 minutes after i completed the gallon. stuff got really hard to get down. i have a strong stomach, i could see where people have problems keeping this liquid down. but this was the worst part of the whole experience.

actually maybe the worst part of the experience was the fact that i knew the woman receptionist (a customer of mine) and i also knew the attending nurse who was there for the procedure (a mother of an employee of mine - they gave me the option for her not to be in the room, since i knew her, but what do i care if she sees my ass?? i'm out anyways). that was all pretty humbling, especially since they knew i was there before my time.

THE BIGGEST BIT OF ADVICE I CAN GIVE ALL OF YOU, THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME....IS GET A BOX OF BABY WIPES!!! you will thank me later:)

nothing to the procedure itself, and they do not "put you under". Usually they give you some valium by mouth then some IV Versed. This will make you comfortably numb, but you certainly won't have to be intubated and have those anesthesia side effects.

The bad part is the 'prep' where you have to drink all the laxative and camp out on the toilet. The prep they use here is called "GO-LYTELY", but it should be called, "GO-HEAVILY"!! Some doctors also make you give yourself an enema until clear before the procedure as well!!

maybe not you, but i was out. had an anesthesist(sp) prep me on the procedure, gave me an IV, counted backwards from 100 - out by 96-97...they brought me out of it at the end of the procedure.
