Bama beating an Oklahoma team with zero offense that the Irish would be a 6 point favorite over will prove absolutely nothing. If they had a different name on the Jersey, they wouldn’t be here
c'mon, jord, you gotta be kidding. sure, alabama ain't what they were a few years ago, but to say they don't belong in the playoff this year is foolish.
they went 7-1 in the best conference in the country (you're not going to argue THAT, are you?)
yup, they lost to what turned out to be a crappy FSU team in the season opener, when simpson was making his first start.
and, yup, they lost at home to a decent OK team. the sooners offense may be shit, but their defense is pretty good. and alabama dominated that game (406 yards vs 212, 23 first downs vs 12, 9 minute edge in TOP). but they gave up a 42-yard punt return, setting up OK's opening FG. then OK had a pick-6. then alabama fumbled a punt, leading to OK's 2nd TD. later, alabama had a 36-yard fg blocked. and, finally, alabama fumbled at their own 28, leading to OK's go-ahead fg. sometimes a team dominates a game, but loses because of a few bad bounces. that was clearly the case here. OK had one drive over 40 yards the entire game.
you seem to conveniently forget that they won AT georgia. never trailed in that game, in fact.
do you think they should be punished for an awful performance in the SEC Championship game, when ND was sitting at home?
both teams were 10-2 in the regular season. alabama did that against the 6th-toughest schedule. ND had, if i recall correctly, the 44th-toughest.
at one point, alabama won 4 straight against ranked opponents. ND played 4 ranked teams all year (2-2).
you can definitely make the argument that ND should be in the playoff. but over alabama? get real with that nonsense.
