i've spent more $$ than i should at costco - could go in for spring water and end up dropping $150 everytime.

their prices and warranties on tv's are great. selection is limited - meaning they don't have 50 types of lcd big screens, but they cover the range pretty well, from the brand - to size you want.

i bought a 50" sony lcd with stand for $2900. best buy and circuit city had the same tv, for about the same price, but the stand was an additional $300. went back about a month later, they had it priced at $2600. took my receipt in, and they credited me the difference. was in two weeks later, and they had it at 2400 - another 2 bills my way, no questions asked. for any price reduction, as long as that store has inventory, they give you the difference.

return policy, they take anything back - might want to ask about the policy on large appliances/tv's. but they are very accomodating.

only downside...you gotta take it from point A - the store floor - to point b - your home. i borrowed a pickup and got it done.

love costco - got the toshiba laptop i'm typing from for 2-3 bills less than anywhere else.

from their website...

The best return policy in the business! Rumors circulating are possibly somewhere down the road, making TV returns the same as computers. 6 Months.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

Just want to make sure of 1 thing. Say I buy a television. 2 years later the television breaks and needs major repair. Will they take it back as is and refund or exchange???

Thanks

i don't see how they can do that. do they keep a profile on each customer and allow only so many returns? somebody could pick up a new TV every 2 or 3 years. or any other product for that matter. get their best vacuum and use it for 1 year. ah, i don't like it now and take it back. cookware? tires? furniture?

seriously, how can they do that?

can't see how it is profitable for them to do that, that leads to so many people realizing their policy and abusing it. i think its ridiculous to buy a tv and return it years later and get all of your money back. people scold other people on here for betting into obvious bad lines saying its wrong yet say "go to costco, buy a tv and get your cash back when it doesn't work anymore or you don't like it". its just wrong any way you look at it

The Boys: Like I said, it's only a rumor. Someday it may change. The salvage in that department is a killer and it's talked about at every meeting.

Jack: Every return is tracked. It shows on the screen when someone is habitual. Less than 1% abuse the system and some have had their memberships cancelled and refunded.

They just take care of the member like no other retailer/wholesaler. Yes, people return all sorts of shit and some can be returned to the vendor and some gets dumped in the compactor.

Salvage guys pay 30% and we eat the rest, but Costco has over 43 million members (x$45 fee) and can eat those losses. Just do the right thing and take care of the member.

You refund someone $140 for a vacuum and most will spend that and LOTS MORE. You get 100% credit from the vendor. WIN WIN!!!!!!!

Damn, I miss Costco. There's not one near me at all, so we have to have a membership to Sam's Club now. Just not the damn same!

Also, I hate it that they can not sell wine here in Nashville. I used to buy shit loads of wine at Costco in Atlanta. I think I read somewhere that they are the largest distributor of wine and champagne in the world.

i believe you, just wondering what the catch is. TJ answered it, i think. it's not unlimited, lifetime returns. it sounds like one has to reasonably honest and not take advantage of the great customer service :)

They are the #1 wine distributor in the world!

Jack: No catch. If you are unhappy/dislike: Bring it back. The member is #1. Money refunded with no questions asked!

Remember when the Plasma TV's first came out? We had some Pioneer's that went for almost $10,000. A few years later some were returned and they bought the newer and CHEAPER ones and walked away with OVER $5,000 EXTRA!

Only at Costco!
