Going to just copy a few texts from recently. These are all things I texted, so I?m copying myself.

...I think covid has taught us how to protect our seniors and vulnerable population. Whether we learned from that or not is another question...

... Hell, we know now how to practically eradicate the flu! That?s earth shattering information...

... I haven?t had a flu patient all year...

... Every patient tested for covid is tested for the flu...I have seen thousands of covid + tests and not one single positive flu test.

... The covid deaths are sort of insidious. We are seeing people months out who are still sick and becoming ill with other things that will kill them. Had an old lady last night who had afib and chf. She now has a weak heart, and having all sorts of problems. Perfectly healthy before covid...

***other covid ?long haul? things I have seen recently. Confusion to the point of psychosis sometimes which is being referred to as ?covid brain?. Toes that are literally turning red/black and rotting off and not related to to a premorbid condition. It?s referred to informally now as ?covid toes?. We have a guy now who is most likely going to lose both feet. Loss of smell and taste for months! Inability to be without Oxygen/home Oxygen is required. Many people who are now on dialysis for the rest of their lives.***

***I?ll preface this next one with this. I feel I am a conservative both fiscally AND in regards to social issues. However, I am in strong disagreement with many vocal people in regards to wearing masks. I think this started with President Trump never really encouraging mask wearing and even brazenly going for a well publicized ride in the car when he and many in the White House had it around his hospitalization. A friend who I would have formerly called a liberal pointed out to me that actual liberalism is all about the self, it?s the opposite of socialism, and how do you justify mask attitude vs law and order. Common anti mask statements. ?I have claustrophobia. The mask makes that unbearable?. ?Where are my rights?? ?I can?t breathe!? Seriously, suck it up. If a covid patient on 15 L of hi flow Oxygen can wear a mask when going out of their room for a test, so can you. ***

...The conservatives as a whole have lost their way. The mask think is all about rights to them. How about making it about being selfless and protecting our fellow man? It makes no sense and defies logic. They will blast all the gender neutral bathrooms or sex changes or gay rights/trans rights, but heaven forbid you take their ?rights? away and make them wear a mask. It?s all me me me. Not only the mask either. Most of these assholes probably don?t even wash their hands after they take a shit. They haven?t seen what I have, and I didn?t even work half the year last year!...

A million thanks for all you have and will do.

I hope to buy you a frosty cold one some day and thank you in person.

So many on my street have been through this ... very lucky that no one has died from it.

The pandemic has provided the insanely liberal democratic party the opportunity to give away money to those who havent earned it. No stimulus funds for those who make a good living, but inflated unemployment checks for many whose income wasnt even affected by the pandemic.

I guess Louisiana must have one hell of a healthcare system( not!!! Lololol), bc our hospitals arent overrun, and while many have died over this (.013 % of the US population) the overwhelming majority who contract the wuhan virus-my 71yo parents included- survive comfortably and most of them asymptomatic.

Keep up the good work, 6'5", but dont be fooled. This very real, and very overblown, pandemic is being used as a political tool by both sides. It just so happens the left is using it more effectively.

How do you square this thought with the fact that the Republicans controlled the WH and Senate, and were the ones in charge?

Also, if you are making a good living, why would you need money for relief or stimulus?

Didn't the inflated unemployment checks run out in July and August?

I'm not sure where you get your info but you've gone off the deep end.

The majority of global COVID-19 deaths have been in countries where many people are obese, with coronavirus fatality rates 10 times higher in nations where at least 50% of adults are overweight, a global study found on Thursday.

Go fuck yourself, pussy:toast:

Of course, you're keenly aware I told him not to be fooled by the politicizing of the pandemic to push specific agendas, and nothing about medical aspect.

Good grief. The guy that disregards the advice of the CDC and blames everything on the Democrats is telling us not be fooled by those that politicize it with specific agendas.

:mj07:

Say what? I blame everything on Democrats? Since when???

I wear mask indoors since march 17, 2020, which I think puts me ahead CDC, no?

And, yes, the virus has been politicized, both sides are using it to further their agendas. Not sure what that has to do with your personal claims about me.

Read your own posts. You are in post 3 blaming the Democrats for actions taken during a Republican led government. You blamed the "liberal" mayor of New Orleans for following the CDC guidelines. You told us you should use common sense instead of the fear and hysteria that the CDC guidelines are generating.......and you're the same guy that called everyone pussies for following the restrictions and bragged about you and your large group of friends getting together, not wearing masks, passing the bong around, etc.

So, no, I don't believe I'd put you ahead of the CDC.

Weren?t the republicans in control of everything when CARES was passed? So, Extra unemployment is bad Bc it enables the lazy and encourages them to stay out of work. All the mega billions more though given to big corporations for bs bailouts though is ok. How come? I had way more issue with that than with the unemployment Bc I had/have/ friends who were unemployed and was myself as posted here. If you?re consistent on saying extra unemployment for those who didn?t earn it and corporate bailouts/free money were both bad, then I?ll give you a pass there. If not, please open your eyes.

Ok not sure about Louisiana healthcare, but I think it sucks like most of it in the South does. I think Covid-19 is heavily trending down as the numbers say and per my experience. However, back in Late October-mid January, I guarantee your hospitals were overrun.

Thanks for the well wishes, you too, and of course I know everything is s political tool for all the crooked idiot politicians on both sides. They are wholly all despicable except I would estimate less than 25%. The ?left? is in control Bc Donald Trump was a jackass. There is no excuse for him to have let demented Joe Biden win. It?s purely his fault for dividing instead of uniting. He should have won re-election in a landslide (and if you mention voter fraud, I?ll agree with Gary that you have completely lost your way).

Americans are too fat, and I?m one of them. What is the intent of this post? Just information sharing or a fat jab? Are fat people who died with covid just getting what they deserved? I saw lots of thin people suffocate to death slowly with covid too.

Thanks for the input.

Sorry I didn?t reply sooner. Thanks so much for the kind words! Maybe we can both make it to a future MJ event and make it happen!

NOLA mayor has us strapped down compared to the state despite our numbers being better. I dont know what CDC guidelines are, but im assuming she is way behind CDC given that our Dem Governor, who is good, has mask madate in place and the state 75% open. I despise the mayor, but not bc she is a Democrat. Every nola mayor has been a Democrat, and very few republicans even run for the position. She is going to bankrupt our hospitality based local economy by lagging behind. She is also a POS hypocrite. Last spring, she and I met at her home. Her neighbor came in and out of the house during our meeting, her driver came in a out of the house during our meeting, she had relatives in the home that did not live there, and I was the only one in the building wearing a mask. This was during a period of time that she she held daily pressers telling us all to isolate and and mask up. While restaurants were closed last summer for indoor dining , she dined at the bar of a local Mexican restaurant almost nightly . Right now, she is in the BVI while telling us all to limit travel.

I'm not sure why this is a trump discussion at this point, but I've told people repeatedly that trump wins the election, and republicans hold on to the senate if this man had been banned by Twitter a year and a 1/2 ago. Further, I despise trump and think he is a dick. At the same time, I like his policy and wanted him to win the election.

Not so much a Trump discussion but one on politics/democrats being in control and reason for that. I have never seen you post that about Trump, but I?m rarely on fb since I despise it, and I don?t frequent politics here. You also ignored the comment about the big corporation bailouts. Thanks.

Your whole post was very well said but I particularly like these points. I consider myself a libertarian but the last Republican president I voted for was W in 2000. I came of age in the late 90s as a Young Republican but I just do not recognize the party and haven't for a long time.

I could fill 100 pages with the things I didn't like about Trump, but there are two very specific actions he took during the pandemic which were entirely indefensible. When the CDC finally recommended mask usage he had a press conference to announce it. He stressed that it was optional and then his very next words were "I don't think I'll be doing it." That was the precise moment it became political. There was mask/no mask debates before then but they had not solidified along party lines until then. The 2nd action was one that just recently came out - that he and Melania secretly got vaccinated in January before he left office. The fact that he did not do so publicly to signal to his supporters that this was an important thing to do and that the vaccine was safe has done immeasurable harm to the vaccination effort.

I'm not going to "both sides" this issue but it's certainly true that there is rampant hypocrisy on both sides. Go back a couple years to the Supreme Court case about whether or not a bakery can refuse to make a gay wedding cake and you will see conservatives lined up to say "they're a private business and have the right to do whatever they want" with liberals saying "they're trampling on their rights!" Now with the masks you've got each side happily switching over to the other camp.

Ironically, the "conservatives" who are anti-mask also claim to hate socialism, but not wearing a mask is taking an extremely socialist view. It's a hive mentality - i.e. it doesn't matter that the most vulnerable among us die, the society as a whole will be fine and may end up stronger when the "weak" are pruned. True conservativism is about recognizing the importance of the individual and would never advocate sacrificing one for the benefit of another.
