Was reading the NFL rules and came across this.....

When, in the judgment of the Referee, the level of crowd noise prevents the offense from hearing its signals, he can institute a series of procedures which can result in a loss of team time outs or a five-yard penalty against the defensive team.

Is this ever enforced? So you can be penalized for a loud home crowd??? Interesting this is never mentioned.

Check out that rule when freaking Minnesota pipes in audio over their speakers while the Packers are on offense.

I guess I'd do the same if I were them. Especially when 35% of the fans there are cheering for the Packers.

I've never seen a penalty enforced but I have seen the game stopped and even that was a long time ago.

Wow, didn't know that rule existed with respect to crowd noise. I know they have rules that you can't have overly loud "non-natural" noise - as in the home team can't just blare an air raid siren over the PA system when they are on defense. Didn't know it could be enforced for a cheering crowd though.
