It's not worth your time FLETCHER, so don't waste it or your precious energy right now. We all appreciate the effort you've been giving due to your circumstances. We'd hate to see you waste your awakened hours on such a jerk. I did not see the post either, but as mentioned, sure it was your usual crap. Just keep up the good work, and get back to health.

He basically said you picked two "crap teams" with Georgia and CSF. He said you were the pied piper and you were leading all these sheep to their grave. He honestly had nothing constructive to say. I don't believe anything in the post was an attack of a personal nature, he just wanted to cause trouble and he decided that since a couple of games didn't hit that now would be a good time. You didn't miss much by not seeing his post, he mouthed off about your picks but everyone here knows you are as solid as they come. Keep up the good work, hope the back feels better soon

Fletch,

Based on your last post I can tell that you are exactly the type of coach I would have loved to play for. Bit off a finger!! I love it. I played JC and college ball and my first coach @ JC was a hard ass that not many kids liked but once I played for him I realized it was focus and intensity behind the toughness that made him such a great coach and motivator. I loved that style and I think that you sound like him. Anyway, Georgia is the team to be pissed at. What a sorry display towards the end. Keep up the great info. Why no longer coaching at such a ripe age? Thanks again for the great info. I'm fairly new to capping and I'm listening to everything you have to say. TJ

i got outof coaching because between 4years of college,1 year playing in the fl state league, and 10 years of coaching at at the juco dII and d1 as weel as every summer and short season with the hagerstown braves took a tool on my family life, came to vegas to coach at unlv after west georgia but just wasnot into to it was burnt out, have a juco national championship ring and dII national championship ring and 1 runner up ring dII it was eorth while would of loved to had a d1 ring but cant have it all.i still scout for 5 teams from the sec and south,i do the west coast az,utah nv,calwhen ask thats enough, plus wife has a very good job at the aladdin so it wouldnot be fair to her to have to pack up and move, and she makes way more then i would as a coach.i could get an asst job within a few weeks if i wanted one.
the on field part is the easy part, the other is a pain in the ass, budgets, spending reports, grade reports, booster meetings summer camps,it just wares you down. and we have a nice life this way. i miss some parts of it and others i dont,i was at schools where you were paid to win and that was the bottom line, even my juco's,fl,cal are the top 2 regions in juco baseball you have better teams then most d1,because most of these players are high round draft choices trying to increase the money before next draft.
almosy 85% of your fl juco kids are drafted before you get them,a pro club will draft them then call a school and say hey take this guy for a year and get him ready, once that happens the proteam has control of that player up till 2 weeks before the next june draft,so the must come toterms on price or the player can be redrafted by another team,so if you have a top notch pitcher you have his team scout always at the games trying to tell you not to let him throw to many pitches and shit like that, but hey he is mine for that year so scouts are a real pain in the ass,a scout would lie on his mothers grave to sign a kid below market price,so its just a hard life when you are at the schools i was at in fl and ga.but nothing is better then seeing you kids make it and whatch them live or on tv,i talk to joe randa at least once a month allan mills a few times a year, and you never know when tom gorden will call,2-3 at times if something isnot going right or just to say hi in the winter but never at a regular time.that what makes it worth the time and the ones who didnot make it but have made it in life that send christmas cards with pictures of there kids and family, just to say thanks that feels the best. so that is the life of a coach at a high pressure program.

Fletch I totally agree with what you said about coaching. To try to be a college coach with a family is rough. I just took over a high school program and trying to teach and run the program was tough. I could only imagine what it is like at the college level. I was a terrible handicapper until I started playing college ball and coaching. It gives you a much greater feel for the game. Their was always games I knew we had no chance to win because we were so overmatched. So I know exactly what you are talking about in the first round of the college series and tomorrows action. The other teams are just so overmatched. Anyways if you could I would like to get some baseball drills from you before the start of our high school baseball season next year. I appreciate your knowledge of the game and insight. Great capping. By the way what did you get your degree in?

Trying to post this before fletcher replies,as to what he got his "degree" in. I have two college degrees. Coached for seven years, been a teacher, counselor, and probation officer for a total of thirty years & what Fletch-Man has to offer is the "degree" of life. He`s done that been there. He`s a coach at work, understands kids, & knows whats he`s doing. That`s my story and I`m sticking to it.

Fletch- I saw where u said u coached at West Georgia. Were they in the Gulf South Conference then? I played basketball at the Univ of North Alabama and I know our baseball team was always top ten. I saw W GA play several times in Florence. Definitely a top notch program. Any way, I greatly appreciate your plays and thoughts on handicapping. Good luck,,, jerek

sid i said in the begaining that tulane was my sleeper if they got by cards, coming into the cws cal.st was the hottest hitting team in college baseball over the last month and a half, they will come back with smith who threw fri and was pulled after 5 had 7 k's and no walks,he was pulled incase they lost in round 2 and had to play tues, their coach was thinking way ahead,to me he is right up there with their ace, bullpin guys didnot throw over 1 to 1 2/3 lnninings each. so he will be fresh tulane on they other hand has thrown alot of pitches,i dont think cal will be 2 hit again, they were the #1 seed,i had them at 3. my seeds were miami, usc, calst, tulane, uga,ut and neb.
usc and miami should be playing for the championship on sat but that cant happen by putting cal at 1 and usc at 3,that was a bad draw for usc,now back to the story cal is better then what they showed yesterday, the beat the 2nd best pitcher in the nation in neb. so i see them turning up the heat in a do or die game and they have there whole staff except #1, and they will use them all at the first sign of trouble have to go with cal over a worn down tulane pitching staff.

AND DONT BE SURPRISED TO SEE USC THROW PRIOR THE FIRST 4-5 INNINGS AND GET THE GOOD LEAD, or throw # 3 and floater for first 4 innings if they are up good floater will go till bp is need but if its a close game prior will come in to the game in the 4-5 to slam the door, cant save anyone now its one and out from here on for usc,and they have a great great great coach, usc will win this game by at least 3 rins, ut isnot that good and they have used a shit load of pitchers with high pitch counts given up dd runs in every game, pitching beats hitting in this type of situation,

Coach Lane definitley had a strong program for many years at UNA but he couldn't win the big one. Actually, UNA has only made 1 world series in his tenure. He was a very disciplined coach like I've never seen. Lived in the athletic dorm so I heard all the stories. But i guess that's what it takes to win at a high level.
