One of the best combos in the NFL with these two. This could be the winning edge I need in this game.

WR Roy Williams vs. CB Aqib Talib

Williams: Williams enters his first full season with the Cowboys as the club's No. 1 wideout, taking the reigns from Terrell Owens. Arriving at the trade deadline last year, Williams was a disappointment in terms of statistical output. He had only 19 receptions for 198 yards. He started in seven of the 10 games he played. The Cowboys are hopeful Williams will flourish as the No. 1 receiver. In 2006, he finished third in the league with 1,310 receiving yards.

Talib: Talib, a Richardson Berkner product, was the 20th pick in last year's draft, the highest selection ever for a Tampa Bay cornerback. And he didn't disappoint. He tied for the team lead with four interceptions and tied for the most interceptions among NFL rookies, despite starting only two games. Serving as the primary nickel back, he posted 27 tackles and 10 passes defensed.

Bucs QB Leftwich unfazed by swirl of changes

By ANWAR RICHARDSON | The Tampa Tribune

Published: September 8, 2009

TAMPA - Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Byron Leftwich stood before the media as a winner on Tuesday.

Leftwich emerged as the starting quarterback late in the preseason. He survived the firing of offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski on Thursday and saw backup quarterback Luke McCown traded to Jacksonville on Saturday.

Yet, Leftwich seemed unfazed as Tampa Bay prepares for its opener against Dallas at Raymond James Stadium.

"Everybody, we're professionals," Leftwich said. "We have to deal with a lot more than you guys give us credit for. In this league, in this time frame, it happens. It always happens around the league, on every team, and everybody knows we're down to the last cuts. You kind of prepare yourself for something to happen. But I'll say none of us were preparing for (Jagodzinski's firing).

"We're professionals. We'll handle it like men and move on."

The last time Leftwich entered a season as the starter was in Jacksonville in 2006. He made two starts for Atlanta in 2007 and appeared in five games with Pittsburgh last season, but is not approaching Sunday's opener any differently.:scared

"Even last year when I was a backup at Pittsburgh, I always prepared myself the same," Leftwich said. "I just didn't run out the tunnel and take the first snap. The preparation is going to be the same for me. I'm going to do the things I need to do, but now I have an opportunity to throw to the guys. I have an opportunity to really practice with the guys."

Leftwich is looking forward to playing with receivers Antonio Bryant and Michael Clayton. Both nursed injuries during the preseason, but are expected to play against Dallas.

"(The Cowboys) don't do a lot of different things, but what they do, they do real good," Leftwich said. "You can tell those guys who have been there and under that system. They really know their defense, because you never see guys running free, wide-open guys. Sometimes you see film on a team and sometimes somebody just won't cover a guy. You never see that with the Cowboys." :SIB

1. Dallas needs to establish thunder and lighting: The Cowboys have an excellent running back tandem in Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Barber is a punishing back who can wear down a defense, and Jones has the explosiveness to make a big play any time he touches the ball. Look for offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to establish the ground attack versus the Buccaneers' 4-3 defense under new coordinator Jim Bates

Thunder and Lighting with this pair.

Bucs QB Byron Leftwich wants to play a ball-control offense and RB Cadillac Williams should start with Earnest Graham backing him up. Leftwich has all his receivers healthy, especially Antonio Bryant, but his main target figures to be TE Kellen Winslow. There's a good chance of rainshowers during the game.:SIB

CZAR'S SCOOP: One of the not-so-funny comments going around the NFL this week was what would Cowboys owner Jerry Jones do to Wade Phillips if he lost to rookie head coach Raheem Morris? Would he fire him? Sounds too drastic, doesn't it. But that's the pressure that Phillips, who is in the final year of his contract, is under in Dallas. :scared

It really wasn't a fair quarterback duel between Leftwich and the since-traded Luke McCown this summer. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin encouraged Morris, a friend, to sign Leftwich, telling him that many Steelers preferred Leftwich to Ben Roethlisberger last season.
Liar !

That was enough for Morris. There is no question that Leftwich has above-average leadership skills and all those intangible qualities. :mj07:

It may rain in Tampa during the game so I do not like that aspect of this wager.

But overall Dallas should rock and sock Tampa who is a cellar dweller this season.

Dallas gets a rush on Leftwich and knock him down and Leftwich will implode.

thanks guys

that first half was hard to watch

I guess Romo was rusty on his passing at first.

Better get ready for the Giants to come to town next week.
