Just saw him on the New Years Eve Special and was shocked! This guy never seemed to age over the years but I think it caught up with him..

North of Titletown AKA Boston
Richard Wagstaff "Dick" Clark (born November 30, 1929) is an American television, radio personality, game show host and businessman; he served as chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions, which he has sold part of in recent years. Now he is CEO of Dick Clark Company. He is best known for hosting long-running television shows such as American Bandstand, five versions of the Pyramid game show, and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.

Clark was long known for his signature closing catchphrase, "For now, Dick Clark, so long!", and his good health and continued youthful appearance, earning the moniker "America's Oldest Teenager", until he suffered a stroke late in 2004. He is recovering and still needs the help from his wheelchair, but he is able to walk. With some speech ability still impaired, Clark returned to his New Year's Rockin' Eve show on December 31, 2005. Subsequently, he has appeared at the Emmy Awards on August 27, 2006 and the New Year's Rockin' Eve show on December 31, 2006, as well as on December 31, 2007.

Although it is hard to watch I think ABC did it out of respect for all of the years he worked. I think Dick asked to be part of it. He is on his last leg and ABC did it for him.

The show wouldn't even exist if it weren't for him, but let's just pile on like the rest of American society, and when he no longer performs up to wonderful Ryan Seacrest standards, let's just toss the old fuker in the trash heap.........Good thing the NAtive American Indians were mostly killed off, because they would be committing suicide seeing how we Americans disregard our elders.

Great point.

I think there is a difference between "no longer performing up to wonderful Ryan Seacrest standards", and barely being able to function.

The disgrace is in his being paraded out there because "it's his show".

I see what you mean, but he came back in a very bad condition last year after the stroke but I thought it was good that he came back and showed that he fought through it and good that abc let him come back.

That should have been his swan song, unless he really improves. Last year was fine, after that...in that condition...a little selfish.

Sure we have it, a lot b/c of Clark, but I'm pretty sure he got paid for it. I've worked a lot of jobs and its funny, they don't feel like they owe me anything...
