...............................................................

This was a guy I met yesterday. He said he had just come back from a stay with relatives.

I just listened to what he told me. I wasnt reporting on accuracy.
I havnt read anything about this lately. Maybe you should do a better fawking job of keeping us informed before you rant out.

I think he was talking about the areas that were devastated being built back up.

Levees are stronger than pre-katrina and by 2010 they should be completely secure. Business is rolling in the Greater New Orleans area. Only the lazy "entitlement" crowd --who didn't hold up their end of the bargain pre-Katrina--aren't kicking ass right now.

I recently obtained a lot in Lakeview, which is the site of one of the leveel breaches. Soon, I will build a home there for my wife and two young boys. Many others have, and will, do the same. Little by little, this city will get back to where it was and beyond.

Tracage

22-story project at Calliope and Annunciation planned as city's housing market heats up. To be dubbed "Tracage," French for "loft," the project will be built on a lot bounded by Calliope, Annunciation and John Churchill Chase streets. The 22-story complex -- 23 stories if a rooftop swimming pool and other amenities are counted -- will sit atop a three-and-a-half-floor garage with 169 parking places. Two metal warehouses now stand on the site.

Construction could begin in six months and be finished for a summer 2008 opening.

Unity of N.O. to offer 5,000 homes for disabled

CityBusiness staff report

NEW ORLEANS ? Unity of Greater New Orleans, a group of 60 agencies providing housing and services, will announce a plan at noon Friday to prevent homelessness in New Orleans through development of 5,000 units of permanent supportive housing for people with disabilities. The Unity meeting will be held at the Holy Angels Conference Center, 3500 St. Claude Ave.
Rosanne Haggerty, a national expert on supportive housing, will present the
keynote address, "Preventing and Ending Homelessness in New Orleans."

Haggerty will discuss research demonstrating that affordable rental apartments linked with services is a cost-effective strategy successful in ending homelessness. Haggerty is founder and president of Common Ground, a New York-based nonprofit and the largest U.S. developer of supportive housing. Unity is working with the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency, the Metropolitan Human Services District, the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority, and other local, state and national groups to implement this model in the New Orleans area.

Unity will dedicate its meeting to the memory of Charles Johnson, a formerly
homeless person who served as an outreach worker for Volunteers of America and was an integral part of Unity's street outreach team. Johnson died in Hurricane Katrina.

Brad Pitt's N.O. housing efforts have Lower 9th Ward in the pink

Actor Brad Pitt is scheduled to announce plans to create more than 100 affordable, ecologically sound homes in the Lower 9th Ward. This weekend, big pink houses were installed in the flood-ravaged neighorhood as symbolic stand-ins for those homes.

Ivory Porter Webb was first perplexed, then giddy with excitement, on Saturday afternoon, just before dusk. As she drove across the Claiborne Avenue bridge over the Industrial Canal, she noticed something peculiar.

A few blocks in the Lower 9th Ward, along the levee from North Derbigny to North Galvez streets, were studded with odd, very large pink blocks, as big as houses, 100 or more of them, with pink roof shapes lying beside them on empty lots.

THE PINK PROJECT: Architectural Realization
The ultimate goal of The Pink Project is to transfer the attention received via the bold art installation into a fund raising effort to build actual homes to replace the 150 structures, rebuilding the Lower Ninth Ward community. The Make it Right website has implemented an innovative donation tool allowing visitors from anywhere in the world to visit the site, virtually, and maneuver a house to purchase specific elements to donate to the community, eventually building up the inventory required to construct all 150 homes. For the homes, Graft and Pitt commissioned designs from 13 architects representing local, national, and international perspectives.

Now you're talking. By the way, it would be better if you use a Marucci bat manufactured in Louisiana. I know Barry Bonds used them:shrug:

Jack

you really surprise me sometimes at how much you read threads. Sometimes I think not a chance Jack would even see this, but then boom.

:142smilie

PS - I am kidding about the bat of course,
Sure hope Eddie shows up. I would hate to get caught in 90 deg rain storm with a bat flopping
around in the suit.

Hope you dont get pissed. But are there thousands of these like this ?

I dont understand why the fed gov has not sent in huge bulldozer and construction equipment to clear the area and get rid of all the debris ?

Fill holes with dirt and then supply people with low cost construction costs to rebuild.

Are people living in their homes that are like this ?

I dont get it.
