Had a filling in my back upper right molar last Thursday. Severe pain afterwards, bite adjustments Friday and Monday. Call back in two days if no better (might need a root canal). I still can't chew on that side and horrible sensitivity to hot and cold. Appt for Monday, and my part will be $289. I asked if that could be lowered bc I just had the filling. They will not charge me for the "build-up" required for a root canal. Wtf is the "build-up"? They said I'll need a crown too bc all root canals need a crown. That will be $1,050 my part since my benefits for the year will be exhausted.

Do I really need a crown?

Why so fucking much?

Tooth pain sucks.

Sounds like something to build up the price. I've had 4 or 5 root canals and a build up was never mentioned, whether they did one or not. The rates around here are like $900 for a RC and $1000-$1500 for the crown.

Sounds like the tooth he filled he left too high for your bite. Tell him to fix that for free and then wait a week or so to see if you need the RC. You could have caused trauma to the tooth by biting down on it because he left it too high with the filling. HE caused you to need a RC.

I'm so fugging experienced at this shit, if I saw your x-rays I could tell if you need a RC.

My bite has been adjusted twice already.

I guess it's so sore that you can't really tell if it's adjusted correctly.

Sucks.

I hate root canals.

Above the Clouds....
Had a molar drilled and filled about 4 yrs ago and nothing but problems after. Went back about 5 times and he said there was no problem and said he would adjust the contacts. Well after 2 years he said I would have to have a root canal.

The reason I had to have a root canal is this bozo couldn't figure out the problem to begin with!

Switched dentists (best thing I ever did) to a 28 yr old guy that knew something and he yanked it. Pain free ever since. Best move I made.

Remember that 50% of dentists finish at the bottom of their class!
