anyone playing katsidis here?

i see this as an easy and ideal match-up for juan diaz, for fairly obvious reasons. im considering even laying the chalk here, as i have enough on guzman already and not much parlay material before sept. 6

diaz big, diaz inside medium. katsidis cant and wont control the distance, and he doesnt have the posture and skillset that nate did. nate could created distance needed for uppercuts and hook shots with his longer arms whille keeping his head tucked it, i see katsidis being too close, too squared-shouldered, too open, and juan's short arms punishing him all night.

we know katsidis will be bloodied, that shoulg get the stoppage win around 9. i learned a hard lesson on the ko/tkio prop when judah bitched out, i dont want to risk a ref calling the cut a headbutt and going to the cards, it's only ITD for me here.

maybe katsidis will be ahead early as he manages to temporarily elude diaz and keep a sligh distance to thhrow straight punches, but by the mid-rounds it will be a phone-booth fight bauilt on body work and uppcuts, in diaz/s control. katsidis cant and wont keep a distance and fire straight combination shiots, and it is unlikely he will get diaz on the ropes. i dont think diaz has the power to counter-knockout katsidis like casamayor did, but katsidis wont be the one pressing, and there wont be much distance between them.

I pretty much see the fight being all Diaz. I don't think Katsidis can really hurt Juan, and it's a lock that Juan will hurt Katsidis. Amonsot was giving Katsidis one hell of a beating, and Kat has yet to really improve defensively. I'll be at this fight next Saturday in Houston.

you guys are making some good points....

any chance that the campbell beating has residual effects?....

i`m thinking not...unless theres some confidence issue with diaz...

seems to me that katsidis is straight ahead...as is diaz...

under maybe?....the fur should be flying early and often...

gotta look around a bit...

I actually think we will see the best Juan Diaz to date. He was spending too much time trying to juggle college and boxing before now. Now that school has taken a back seat I just get the feeling that he's going to come in looking very impressive. Nate beat him because Nate is ring smart. He knows the ins and outs much like a Hopkins. Katsidis is the opposite of that. His wild, headfirst approach will get him chopped down September 6th. I just wish I had a better feel on the round.

i hear you...nate,on his game,is a very tough out....verrrry well rounded fighter that has the talent to go to plan "b" if plan "a" isn`t working...

unfortunately(for me),he isn`t always mentally in the game...

i`m guessing that you`re right about diaz being sharp...it`s in houston...so we got homecourt...

i`m looking hard for a parlay partner for diaz...don`t really feel like laying -330...the over 9.5 in ruiz/colossus looks like a gimme, but at -500,i think i can do better...

I expect Diaz to get back on track here. Katsides is strong as hell but he is a face first catcher. And even though he's strong, he takes everything clean and does not have superb chin. Diaz is an in your face guy but he does have skills. He has a great jab, fast hands and an underrated defense. Diaz is a higher quality fighter than Katsides and it will be borne out in a fan friendly fight. I like Diaz inside the distance, somewhere around the 7th round.:0corn :0corn

PBF if you're from Texas and have insight into Juan Diaz, we'd appreciate to hear it. Diaz has placed school second to boxing? Can you elaborate on that?

I have the Valuev/Ruiz over in heavy parlays as the middle leg with Guzman the last leg, I have to hedge it in case a freak injury, way too much to lose. I almost feel embarrassed making a play on the under, like the bookies are laughing at me. lol.

gardenweasel, parlay partners are tough to find right now, I took Guzman as being the closest and at the best line. From what Ive been reading in MMA threads here and elsewhere Franklin and Lidell look like good parlay partners, whats your opinion on MMA parlay partners?

i`m looking at the very same two mma plays,partner..

the franklin move up in weight is a tad ???...but the chuck odds are pretty reasonable....

at this point i`m leaning chuck...still considering...

but you`re right...parlay partners at reasonable odds are a tad scarce at this point in time...

I go to school in Austin and have followed Diaz for quite a while. Juan was attending college at the University of Houston all throughout his pro career. After the loss to Campbell he decided that it was best to postpone his college career. He's quit school and has been doing nothing other than boxing. I've heard from reliable sources that he's practically a new man and has improved dramatically. Just imaging trying to be a professional boxer all while taking 12+ hours of college! Now think about how good Juan was while doing all of this. And now imaging him solely focused on boxing. I like what I hear, and I am all over Diaz winning this fight by stoppage. I look for him to overwhelm Katsidis and get him out of there around the 7th or 8th.

thanks for the insight, its made me even more confident in the play. I havent been this excited about a play in a while. I figure Juan ITD will be around even money or slightly better.
