Have to break up the Iraqi rebuilding love fest for second to mention two things...first, I thought we were not in the business of nation building (or rebuilding, if we tear it up), and think of all the wonderful stories we could have written and told in our own wonderful country if we had spent the time and effort here, instead of in a country that never attacked us under the mantra of complete false pretenses.

Dare to dream, eh, fellas?

Now, continue on...nothing wrong with a feel good run...

You one thing I thought of about what America is paying monthly for our troops to be in Iraq.

That number is offset by the amount of money it takes every month to maintain, feed, pay, clothe,
and everything else we have to do for the military anyway at our own bases here in the US.

I still want them home as soon as possible.

But no one will give us the figure on how much we pay for armed services in peace time in the US in a month.

It has to be millions.

Careful, Scott. You might get a stern talking-to for this type of post.

God bless the troops. I hope Iraq is truly turning in a positive direction. I wish nothing but the best, regardless of any partisan leanings I may or may not have.

AR You might ask Smurph where Snopes discounts statesments other than some being hard to prove--which I would agree (to some)
--I did find it strange that Snopes points you to one persons opinion, from the Voices of the Wilderness as a source to anything.

What do you think Smurph?

Lighten up, Francis:)

Fair enough...although, I'm wondering how lightened up our troops are going to be this holiday season. But I do wish them well, and am also happy about seeing the death and destruction totals going down some, no matter what the reasons are they are there.

I just wish they didn't have to be there at all, and none of them had to deal with the issues that have had to - and will have to - deal with.

I will, however, attempt to lighten up a tad - although not sure why you feel I should after you post so many feel good stories - a person can't mention anything else or they are being dark? It's just some perspective, regarding all the great things they are now seeing to and rebuilding - when we supposedly weren't in that business, to hear some tell it.

Happy holidays, and I'm thankful on this day that more of our soldiers have not suffered ? as many have in the past ? of late. Hoping that at this time next year that fewer and fewer have to worry about this at all in that country. Not to mention their families.

Gee how folks tell me my info is old if more then two days pass by. Here we have 3 & 2 year old and 2 & 1 month old. I like the word SOON. 100000 troops to come home SOON end of 2008?
Soon to me is like 30 days.
Iraq oil to pay for war. Cost so far to America about a Trillion. And Bush shows no shame in asking for more. But does not bother to look where his first trillion went. Schools getting built every place in Iraq while those here at home need so much repair. Wow jut budget cut them.
