Tony Scott ?has passed away. We ask that the family?s privacy be respected at this time.? Hollywood is shocked by this tragic news because Scott had a lauded and thriving career and*known for*blockbusters like Top Gun, Days Of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II,*and the most recent*Unstoppable. He also is a credited producer*on this summer?s Fox blockbuster
Prometheus directed by his brother Ridley Scott
. In recent months he was busy developing a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise. The LAPD tells Deadline it*received a*911 call*at 12:35 PM today about a man who*jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles County spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island. The body of the man was recovered from the water.

I don't understand some methods of suicide. Wouldn't sitting in the garage with the car running and the door closed be the way to go? I just walked across one of the Cincinnati bridges and it is freaky, especially with the short railing. Even if you wanted to end it, that seems like it would be hard to do.

I heard the car and garage method does not work anymore, for some reason. You need to light up the charcoal grill in the garage too. I read about this stuff when the Shrink and his wife did the double suicide a few years back.

Classy discussion guys. Scott made a lot of garbage movies, but he also made a few classics. Sad day, especially for his family.

68 is too young. Especially when I consider my parents have now broken into their 60s. The saddest part is how horrible it must have felt for him to leave behind his family without saying goodbye.

inoperable brain cancer....i was thinking he might be terminal.......

imo,it makes perfect sense...he probably figured he didn`t want to go through with the whole hospice ordeal and didn`t want to put his family through it....

i bet most of us that are a little older have probably thought about just such a scenario.....

seems to me it was actually a courageous thing he did(if you`ve ever been through this with family, you know what i`m talking about)...

very sad indeed..........
