So I've decided to step up my tailgate game and am looking into getting a directv setup for my car.

1. Do I need to buy another dish

2. Power source: have read you can get a converter so the cigarette lighter can be used with normal plugs. I've read of people doing this but my assumption is it will drain the car battery. I'd prefer to not be the guy with the loud, smelly generator.

A friend of mine occaisionally sets this up at tailgates and he had a dish on a tripod. He bought a small Honda generator that is very quiet and easy to move around and set it in front of his car. Never knew it was there. What goes into the cigarette lighter is called an invertor. Converts 12V to 110V. IMO, this would put a major strain on your battery, even if you left your car running the whole time. I'd bet you'd find plenty of uses for a generator, and if you get a good one, they will last a long time if taken care of.

I already have dtv in my house but we just bought a 5th wheel rv and we wanted to have more options available than just campsite cable or antenna service. So I have a few questions.
1- Could I just get a portable dish and take one of my home receivers with me each time I go camping? Would this work at all?
2- Is there a specific dish and receiver that I will need for my RV? (I want one that I can move around not mounted to the roof)
3- If I get a dtv system that is dedicated for my RV can I get it linked right to my existing account? If so how much more will it cost me per month?
Any input would be very helpful. I hope there is an easy and cheap way so that I can enjoy dtv anywhere I may go.
Thanks for the help!!!

"Let's go camping, honey."

"We're going camping this weekend."
