Okay - here it is - "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

And what was a "militia" when the Second was written? It was a group of citizens who could be called up for action by the Governor of a state, and who brought with them their own firearms. The name "militia" is now archaic. The present name for those folks is The National Guard.

Yep, you read that correctly. The Second was written to prevent state militias, National Guard units, from being disarmed. It has nothing to do with citizens who are not militiamen under the control of a State Governor.

If you aren't a Guardsman, under control of a State Governor, the Second does not apply to you.

You'll notice that the NRA never mentions those first four words. Ever wonder why?

Guy with the hat should have handed all his valuables to the bad guy, gave him a kiss and shook his hand, he has no right to protect himself, what was he thinking, another great criminal dead, so wrong right? Muff is in mourning.

Right on......It's one sentence, plain English. And you cannot even read and comprehend those few words.:mj07::mj07::mj07::mj07::mj07::mj07::mj07:

I guess you have no idea what I am talking about. Are you not a gun owner? Do you not display a gun in your avatar?
You are right duff. I am not on your level. What ever that is.

Actually I own and shoot lots of guns. There is no present law which forbids that or which requires a license or registration.

What you don't get are the simple words of the second amendment. Nothing therein prevents Federal, state or local governments from placing limits on gun ownership by private citizens who are not part of a "well regulated militia."

I'd like to see national gun registration, and there's no problem with that. Right now if you buy a new gun from a dealer, it is registered with the ATF the minute you buy it. All other sales should be registered.

Further, nobody outside of law enforcement should be allowed concealed carry, no civilian guns should have detachable magazines, any everyone who is on a watch list should be carefully background checked before a gun permit is issued.

If any political entity (State, county, city) wants to outlaw all guns except for law enforcement and members of a militia, they should be able to do so. If you don't like that, move.

Nobody except criminals is harmed in any way by the above.
