I don't see them marching against rap.

Maybe they aren't into rap or know much about it. Or is that unthinkable?

Maybe they don't *all* have it programmed into their ipods, as you suggested earlier.

Maybe the goddamn Rutgers girls basketball team shouldn't be expected to lead an anti-gangsta crusade because an ancient, crusty white guy called them nappy-headed hos.

What do you think the chances are that they never heard rap? They were no more offended than Al Sharpton was. If they were offended because some old guy didn't like their looks then their coach or their parents should have told them to grow up.

Pretty easy for you to say, Stevie. Not sure why you think you are able to think and speak for them (the girls/women), but whatever.

Maybe Imus' parents should have told him to grow up a few times as he was "growing up." Again...jokes are fine and good - this crossed the line by a mile. They did not ask to be called out like this - very different from Sharpton and Jackson, who of course are using this for their own purposes.

I would certainly hope that my daughter would stand up and speak out against this kind of ignorance, if she was labeled something this terrible by such a bumbling ass. We're white, by the way, if that matters.

They did not make a big thing out of it until Sharpton and Jackson did. In fact, they joked about it. One girl said "Nappy hair, what's that? I comb my hair."
It was Sharpton and Jackson who demaded the firing.
I am not saying what he said was ok. I got into an argument on here when somebody called Rosie fat. I don't think he should be fired just because Al Sharpton see's dollar signs.

A couple of things. Imus was hired by the 24 hour news channel because of his personality and his schict. They knew what they were getting. On 50 Cent and the other Gangsta pukes. They would not have an audience if they did not get their songs played on the radio.
even at that, there are clearly different rules between television and radio. savage lost his job on tv for saying the exact kinds of things he says on his popular radio show (nuking iran), rush lost his tv job the same way (mcnabb remark), now imus follows along. if his show was only radio, this never would have been a story. i don't know why it is this way, but it is. more scrutiny on tv.

well cbs has fired him as well.

This whole incident is a disgrace, the fact that Sharpton and Jackson have this much "pull" when they are two of the worse people on this earth sickens me.

An incredibly sad day in the history of this country.

Just heard that as well. The thing that bothers me is yesterday the Today show was keeping it stirred up and this morning they were defending him. The media just won't quit and they're beating this to death.

And CBS and Procter and Gamble just made those two phonies more powerful.

"the bunker"
i just heard this morning that 24 black employees of the nbc network (al roker among them) went to the head honcho to complain about imus.

i wonder if these same citizens would mind going over to the record companies also to complain about the garbage that the rappers are putting out.

and don`t forget olbermann...i heard him say it on his show....

Where is the backbone for some of these companies? Clinton stood up to Jackson his second term and his vote count went up higher. Could these Ceo's actually think more people would buy their product by firing him? What in the world is going on here?

"somehow,this is bush`s fault"

spongy/spytheweb

Nah weasal its Imus fault. He should have taken a clue from Stern and had a Robin as a side kick. Strange how the Moral police wanted Stern so badly but he slipped and slided and now a bunch have seem to fall. Maybe the guy is a genuis. I never thought so.

a little o.t....

"The co-hosts of "The View" offered their input on news of the dismissal of all charges against the three indicted Duke lacrosse players. After discussing Imus again, co-host Joy Behar labeled the innocent players as "a little white boy’s club" that is "in effect" at Duke"...

then they intimated that if they weren`t guilty of this, they were guilty of something.....

i`ll be serious for a second...imus said something he shouldn`t have...maybe he has a history of offensive stupidity...and even though i don`t believe you take a person`s livelihood for saying something racist or offensive..... you have to realize that in this liberal,p.c. bullshit climate we live in,anything uttered in public or private as a public figure can and will be held against you in the court of public opinion.....he should have known that...

of course, the execs at pmsnbc and cbs knew imus.....f=cking hypocrites...cbs is showing its rat fink self by allowing its record division to sell, promote, and sensationalize their rap artists who rap about nappy ho's, killing people, and drugs ad nauseum.....

on the other hand, i`m sure those 88 duke professors had plenty of time to think out, plan and write their petition whose intention was to target three people because of their gender, race and social class..... male, white and upper-middle class....

i would classify the professors' petition as possible hate speech.....and perhaps the parents of those three young men should look into how their son’s civil rights were violated by the university professors and begin civil and criminal litigation....

those 3 students were harassed and threatened by other students as a direct result of that petition.....were forced out of school...the lacrosse program was shut down...

this is liberal academia at it`s very best...or worst, depending on your perspective...

not to mention the student`s parents being on the hook for probably around a cool mill each in attorney`s fees.....

now,the a.g. of n. car announced that there would be no prosecution of the "ho" that pressed bogus charges....

throw in sharpton`s and jackson`s roles in enflaming the situation and basically convicting those guys before any real investigation of the evidence took place....

and you could make the argument that the 2 reverend big mouth's lying comments have in years past caused death and destruction, yet senile comedian imus, whose comments don't reach any further than disgust, is the one sacrificed on the altar of political correctness......

everybody`s crying about one of the basketball girl`s saying,"i`m scarred for life"......

the lacrosse guys and their families?....

/sound of crickets....

:nooo:

The Original Gardenweasel

Weasie, good going on the above.

The view, i don't watch, just seen excerps on other shows with " the Donald " showdown. I litterally can't stand looking or listening to rosie O'donnell. I just saw this Elizabeth Hasselbeck on Hannity & Combes....Where the heck does Barbara walters get these idiots.

I really believe Imus was fired because of his Anti Semetic Remarks..awhile back he called the station management money grubbing beanie heads

I really doubt the two Charletans / Extortionists Al Sharpton and the " I was There " Jesse Jackson have any influence on these CBS Management Characters...they are just tolerated because they are despicable.

Sharpton ,Bill Cosby, Maddux, Mason publicly raped DA Steven Pagones in the Brawely Hoax. Sharpton subsequently ordered thru civil lawsuit to pay damages of $ 65000 to Pagones. Well sharpton being the scumbag pussy that he is wouldn't pay but got his buddies to pony up the money.
Sharpton is a coward and a piece of exploiting chit.
