Privately, some U.S. officers fear the Iraqis may lose control of Mosul within a few months after American forces pull out of Iraq's third largest city, where al-Qaida and other Sunni militants remain active.
The U.S.-Iraq security agreement that took effect this year calls for American combat troops to leave urban areas by the end of June, with all U.S. forces out of the country by the end of 2011.
But a series of high-profile bombings has raised questions whether Iraqi forces can assume more security responsibilities, especially in Mosul.
Nationwide, at least 451 people were killed in political violence last month, compared with 335 in March, 288 in February and 242 in January, according to an Associated Press tally.

Didn't pretty much everyone know the whole country will go to hell the second we leave?

lol- You can't possibly be serious posting this.

First, the dems were calling for an exit plan (novel idea), and you branded them cut and run artists.

Then W comes up with an agreement with the Iraqi government regarding a withdrawal timetable. Silence.

Then recently you crow that W 'handed' Barry an exit plan.

And NOW you somehow blame the current plan for a surge in violence after braying for months about how we won?

lmao.

Like Fek said and i've said for 6 years. It will likely be a bloodbath when we actually leave. They are already positioning.

They were our enemy before we went in and they will be after we leave.

what happened to spy`s "casualty countdown" since the inauguarartion and all this renewed violence?....

they`re even allowing casket photos....but no spy?...

of course, none of this is newsworthy unless bush is in office...more disparate treatment of conservatives vs. liberals/jihadis in the arts, comedy and communications....

we knew this,though...we knew it a long time ago(when the dead sea was just sick)....

Didn't make any reference to U.S. troops deaths which have also escalated.

Ok Lets move on to Gumby and other areas-

What has Gumby's pole stroking Kumbaya and Hilliary's ball licking accompliashed in Iran--

They continue their assults in U.N. talks--so bad that most walk out--they imprison our reporter--to which H says please don't do that--they come out and say we will escalate our nuclear ambitions. WOW we have really made headways there.

NK Yep didn't take them long to see they might get instant replay of Billy Bob/Madeline Notsobright. Shoot off another rocket-reconstructing nuclear facities that had been dismantled--and wanting to nix 6 way talks in effort to get one on one with sister Obama.

Afgan--getting worse by the day--and you can include pakistan now in as terrorist- oops--make that "Contingients of overseas operations"--are on verge of taking over.

--and add to fact Gumby trying to dismantle all the techniques that made us safe.

Are ya all feeling safer-??

Would like to hear from "Da Base" on what Obie has done in positive note in Iraq-Afgan-Pakistan or Korea or vs terrorist in general.

This pretty much sums it up--especially last paragraph.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2009/05/05/the_cias_fight_with_obama_96333.html

The CIA's war against President Bush was motivated by ass covering, or by political partisanship. But with President Obama, it's personal.
Many are furious about his disclosure of explicit details of the interrogation methods used on some al Qaida bigwigs, and his waffling on whether or not those who employed them will be subject to prosecution.
Others are incensed by his decision to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay, and to let some of those incarcerated there (17 Chinese Uighurs) loose in the United States.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held two hush hush meetings with CIA Director Leon Panetta and Democratic members of the Intelligence Committee last week.
"Her fear and frustration have apparently given way to panic after word reached her of the CIA's reaction to the damage she, President Obama and other Democrats have done to the spy agency in the last three months, wrote Jed Babbin, a former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense, in Human Events May 1. "Pelosi learned that her actions and those of President Obama have so damaged CIA morale that the agency's ability to function could be in danger."
The upshot of the meetings was an unprecedented letter from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes (D-Tex) to Mr. Panetta, making a quasi-apology. Rep. Reyes asked the CIA director to "disseminate it to the CIA workforce as soon as possible."
But the CYA nature of the letter, and Mr. Reyes' pledge of more oversight are unlikely to mollify many at Langley.
Other Western intelligence services regard the Obama administration with contempt and rising concern, an officer of the DGSE, France's military intelligence agency, told my friend Jack Wheeler (the real life Indiana
Jones) last week.
"All of us in our little community are worried -- us, our friends in Berlin, London, Tel Aviv," the DGSE officer told Jack. "It is not like the barbarians at the gates. It is every barbarian horde in the world being told there are no gates."

After how many years, how many deaths, how many resources spent in Iraq and Afghanastan you mean to tell me that countries still are not stable? And you have the nerve to stand there and thell me it is the fault of the guy who inhereted the mess? How many surges do you need? Face it, Bush blew it big time.
Probably worse than any President in history. The mistake Obama is making is by staying there.

I see Stevie--when asked for what O has done as positive-in Iraq-Iran-NK-Pakistan-Afgan theatres we get the typical liberal response--it was GW.

If you can't think of one thing he has done positive--just say so

My reason for posting Chad was exactly what thread title said--I don't like this trend.

The trend I don't like is after getting things under control there with diminishing violence--since new admin came in in January--the trend has reversed with violence escalating monthly.

Not just there--same can be said for NK-Pakistan-Afgan-Iran per above--and yet to have anyone even attempt to find area of improvement since January.
Our intelligence and other allies are walking on egg shells--while terrorist/captured and otherwise are the only ones :00hour and chanting "أبجدية عربية" translated--"Yes we can"

So you are saying the Surge did not work? Or are we supposed to Surge every month?
