Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Seeing all these commercials for "Million Dollar winner checks",
"Billions of dollars, get your share...."

It appears to me, that without an acknowledged governing body, bathtubs full of easy money involved, something does not smell quite right.

Could this be heading eventually for a major fall?

Open to discussion.....:argue:

Weekly

The site takes 10%

You have to pick every player that scores 3 touchdowns to win anything, I'm glad I only put 100 in each because when it's gone I'm done

Thanks Kickserve.....

I will ban myself for a half of a viewing day due to lack of attention to details...

All I can tell you is that competition is tough. A group of us play each other in private contests and you have a fighting chance in those. I deposited $100 back in March and I have around $30 left and have played probably 50 contests, maybe more. I won $7 last week in their $100,000 free roll. I only played 1 football and several NHL with the rest being PGA golf events. I'm not big on fantasy sports as my knowledge of individual players sucks. That's my 2 cents.

I do ok with it in the smaller tournaments..

I dont bother with the larger million dollar contests because they are dominated by pros that enter with maximum entries

Week 1 for example the first prize 1,000,000 and the second prize 300,000 were won by the same person! He also kept winning on down the line. From my count he won about 1,500,000. He entered 1,000 times under that log in..

And no telling how many other times with other log ins

From what I have read the big money almost always goes to the pros with giant bankrolls and auto draft software that will randomly select their teams

You do that a few 1,000 times with a few 100 log ins and there you go

The little guys have very little chance of winning.

Last week I gave this a shot.. I couldn't find any auto draft software so I filled out nearly 20 entries in a 200,000 pool manually and it was a giant pain in the ass. I had 3 teams finish in the money but barely won enough to cover my entry fees

Cool hobby that keeps me interested but dont hold your breath on the big payouts

I've never played Fantasy Football. I don't even really know what all goes on, just that you draft players and hope they do well that week.

Would it be a good introduction to FF? How much should I deposit? I know I'll lose it but I don't want to not be able to do something because I didn't put enough money in.

How much you put in is entirely up to you.

They have cash contests entry fees starting as low as 2 bucks. There are 5 dollar 10,20,50 all the way up to over 1,000 per entry. Some are even free and pay prizes

Really just depends on how much you want to play for.

You dont have to spend big entry fee money to get in the big tournaments.. but you could be playing against say 300,000 people so your odds arent very good

Just pick one and sign up

There literally is an ass for every seat

the pros do not have multiple logins, that's illegal. the sites wouldnt last if they allowed that to happen.

on fd and dk you must have two games in order to start a "contest" in nfl they will have mon-thurs slate on sun/mon night only slate consisting of two games each

to those that have read all the articles and say it's impossible to beat the pros, it's just not factual. all 3 of the DK millionarie winners this year have done it on one entry only. further my buddy, "runj" took down 2nd this week and cleared north of 560k on DK

Wonder how that 560 k will be itemized on tax day...?

Gambling? Investing? Lottery? Hey? I gotta pay taxes on this?

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I do ok with it in the smaller tournaments..

From what I have read the big money almost always goes to the pros with giant bankrolls and auto draft software that will randomly select their teams

Sure enough....This study from the Sports Business Journal found that the top 1.3 percent of fantasy players were responsible for 40% of entry fees (fees that averaged over $9K+) and reaped 91% of all the profits.

some excerpts from the Singer and Miller study:

"....the skill element of daily fantasy is so high that DFS pros will wipe out recreational players in short order. For a real-money contest to achieve sustained popularity, it needs the right balance of skill versus luck. Chess is popular but almost no one plays it for money, because it?s far too skill-based; the better player wins almost every time. Poker thrives because an amateur can beat the best players in the world.

Inefficient pricing
Sports betting has thrived despite a large skill gap between the average sports fan and the sharp bettor. The reason is that the lines are set by a large, liquid market. You can walk up to a betting window in Las Vegas, select a team at random and still win almost 50 percent of the time. Betting randomly, you will lose money over time, but your average loss will be only slightly over the 4.5 percent vigorish.

When you create a DFS lineup, you get a fixed salary cap and buy players at prices set by the site. Trout might cost you $5,500 out of your $50,000 cap, while Granderson might cost just $3,500. But these prices don?t reflect player values perfectly. For example, on some sites, they do not take into account the opposing starting pitcher or game-day lineup changes. Finding underpriced players among 800 active MLB options can be overwhelming to the novice, but sharks use sophisticated models to optimize their lineups.

No protection for novices
In poker, there is a large skill gap between the best players and the typical, recreational player. But fortunately for the recreational player, the best players won?t be found at their tables. The sharks focus their energies on the tables with $5,000 buy-ins and higher. You can sit at a $50 buy-in table and be safely insulated from the best of the best, because it?s not worth their time to try to take your money.

In DFS, the top players can enter every contest. One player, maxdalury on DraftKings, every day enters nearly every MLB contest on the site, from the $10,600 buy-in contests to the $1 buy-in tournaments. Indeed, sharp players often enter each small buy-in tournament dozens or even hundreds of times. The novice player is like Neo in ?The Matrix Reloaded,? fighting hundreds of Agent Smiths simultaneously."
