hmm on those lines, I already teased (and I said i wouldnt tease CFB anymore) from usc to ga ... usc even to GA -2.5

i hate going against tedford but too much motivation for usc to lose, but they could ... GA will beat TENN young qbs by 3+

Gardenweasel:

I have to agree with you on Oreg State, I think I have watched them play at least three times this year and outside of the LSU game the offense has sucked. The team has absolutely no running game and Anderson has been a bust this year.

Wox,
How low do you think they will go with this total? Wisky has very little passing game and you would have to think the Buckeyes will stack the box with 8 defenders and shut the running game down. On the other hand Tressel's play calling has been brutal this year and the lack of a running game is creating bad down and distance situations.

lots of games i like this week.

purdue still scares me on the defensive side of the ball, but ND's defense didn't play ALL that badly and they still pu up a 40-spot on them

Ohio State is a top 10 team and should take alot of frustration out on a one-dimensional Wisky team

The look in Benson and Young's eyes on the sidelines when Arkansas was driving for victory against the Longhorns earlier this year is enough for me to fade them in any meaningful game.

Minny's still not at THAT level. UofM starts coming to form at this time every year.

KSU owns KU - no matter what's happened this year

USC won't let it happen again and at home, it will be over by halftime.

Illinois is just as strong as MSU and will be there at the end. field goal game

i use different methods to cap games. one is a mathematical thing that i came up with over the years. it doesn't take other factors into consideration like rushing offense & defense, 3rd down efficiency, etc.just based on the line.

based on the mathematical capping that i do.........

so. miss.should cover 70%
virginia....................56%
ohio.......................71%
miami oh.................71%
wash......................70%
w.f.........................60%
wyoming.................60%
penn.st...................59.6%
kentucky.................60%
rice........................71%
fresno st.................70%

it doesn't mean that i will bet all of the above, but it's my starting point.

good luck.

I hate Fulmer as I think he is a moron but I really like Tennessee in this spot. Georgia is overrated as their offense truly isn't as good as it looked against LSU. They just put it all together & the ball bounced their way. This team won't finish the season undefeated much less in the top 5.

This line is clearly inflated due to what they did against the defending national champions last week. This line wouldn't have been more then a td if they didn't beat LSU by as many as they did imo.

Today's top story ... Miami star Winston out for the year
Junior standout LT Eric Winston will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury; Head coach Larry Coker didn’t release details of the injury, but confirmed that Winston will require surgery: Junior Rashad Butler, who has yet to play this season due to a fractured left ankle, is likely to plug the void left by Winston; The Canes have a bye this weekend before playing Louisville on Oct. 14

ACC

Florida State
The depth at the QB position is beginning to become an issue for the Noles; In addition to senior Chris Rix’s high ankle sprain, true freshman backup QB Drew Weatherford suffered a similar injury during his only play of Saturday’s game; In order to preserve fellow true freshman Xavier Lee’s redshirt season, the coaches are expected to move sophomore walk-on Thomas Keane into the top backup spot for next Saturday night’s game at Syracuse

Big XII

Colorado
Senior starting RB Bobby Purify suffered a partially separated shoulder in Saturday’s loss to Missouri; The injury was initially suffered during the North Texas game on Sept. 18, and could cost Purify some playing time throughout the remainder of the season; He is, however, expected to play in Saturday’s home game versus Oklahoma State …

Big Ten

Iowa
Senior starting RB Jermelle Lewis went down with an injury to his right knee during Saturday’s win over Michigan State; Lewis will have an MRI today, but it is believed that the injury is a torn ACL, which will sideline him for the remainder of the season; The Hawkeyes’ top three RB’s have all gone down with injuries, which leaves junior Marques Simmons as the starter for the team’s next game, on Oct. 16, against Ohio State …

Wisconsin
Senior starting RT Mike Lorenz has been sidelined indefinitely with an undisclosed foot injury; Lorenz didn’t dress for Saturday’s win over Illinois, and isn’t expected to play in this weekend’s game at Ohio State; Senior Morgan Davis, who was considered a co-starter with Lorenz, will now take over the full-time starting duties

SEC

Alabama
The injuries continue to mount for the Tide, as true freshman leading WR Keith Brown suffered a left shoulder injury and sophomore starting LB Juwan Garth suffered a right shoulder injury; Both are expected to miss Saturday’s game at Kentucky

Georgia
Junior standout OG Max Jean-Gilles had to leave with a knee injury during the second quarter of the team’s victory over LSU, but is expected to be back in the lineup for this weekend’s game against Tennessee; An MRI revealed only a sprain

Mercury’s Rising

John Bunting, North Carolina (15-27) – On Bunting’s watch, rigormortis has set in at Carolina. The once-proud program, which boasts outstanding facilities, has become an ACC doormat. AD Dick Baddour should at least make an attempt at free agent Steve Spurrier.

Paul Pasqualoni, Syracuse (104-51-1) – Good coach, good man, good riddance. Pasqualoni had his moments in the 1990s, but his best days have passed. There’s too much at stake in a wide-open Big East for the Orange to continue to be mired in mediocrity.

Keith Gilbertson, Washington (6-10) – A program with this much history can do much better at head coach. Gilby got a pass last year after taking over for the deposed Rick Neuheisel, but he has no excuses for this year’s 0-4 start. A loss to San Jose State this week would be a new low.

Ron Turner, Illinois (34-52) – Was it just three years ago that the Illini were playing in the Sugar Bowl? Since 2001 the bottom has fallen out of the program, and a three or four-win season may not be enough to save Turner’s job.

Gary Crowton, BYU (24-19) – After starting his tenure 12-0, Crowton has lost 20-of-31, unacceptable by BYU standards. It hasn’t helped that bitter rival Utah has become a non-BCS darling during that time. Crowton may need a bowl invite to survive.

John Thompson, East Carolina (1-15) – Losing is one thing, but getting embarrassed is a whole different level of hell. Thompson was supposed to bring a defensive attitude to Greeneville, but all he’s brought is the Pirates to depths that no one could have fathomed.

Rich Brooks, Kentucky (5-11) – In just over a year, Brooks has done nothing to change the notion that his hiring was a colossal mistake. No coach of an SEC team can lose at home to Ohio, and feel good about his job security.

Enjoying Some Shade

Mack Brown, Texas (63-18) – Of course, all bets are off until after this week’s showdown with Oklahoma. Brown’s done an underrated job in Austin, but until he beats Bob Stoops and wins a league title, he’ll forever be under the microscope.

Ron Zook, Florida (20-11) – Barring a total collapse, the smart money is on Zook returning for a third season in 2005. He’s been a pariah in some circles, but deserves no less than four years to see a terrific first recruiting class exhaust their eligibility.

Karl Dorrell, UCLA (9-8) – After losing badly to Oklahoma State in the opener, Dorrell was the source of a whole heap of criticism in Southern California. Since then, however, the Bruins have located an offense, and won three games they might have lost last year.

Buddy Teevens, Stanford (9-17) – The Cardinal’s performance thus far has been one of the major surprises of 2004. Stanford is playing well on both sides of the ball, and is a late loss to No. 1 USC from being unbeaten.

Gary Barnett, Colorado (37-29) – For getting three straight wins from a scandal-ravaged program, Barnett may have been the Coach of September. He and his players, however, must be on their best behavior going forward, or the coach will pay the price.

Brian Knorr, Ohio (10-30) – The Bobcats’ three wins this year have already surpassed last year’s total. Saturday’s shocking win at Kentucky was just Ohio’s third against a major conference opponent since 1973. At this pace, Knorr is going to land himself a contract extension.

Phil Bennett, SMU (4-25) – Considering the current state of the program, one win can do wonders for a head coach; especially when that win breaks a nasty 15-game losing streak. The Mustangs beat San Jose State last weekend, and were rather competitive against Boise State this past Saturday.

MISLEADING FINALS

Air Force had a 25-14 FD edge vs. Navy & 405-321 yd edge but settled for 2 short FG’s of 28 & 21 yards early & gave up a huge 3rd & 19 conversion for a 66 yd pass on Navy’s 6th drive of the 2H which was their first FD in the 2H. The game ended with Navy K Blumenfeld making his first FG of the year, a 30 yarder with :04 left for the 3 pt win...

It looks like Purdue blew out Notre Dame 41‑16 but the Irish actually had 28-22 FD & 536-512 yd edges. Big plays were the key. Purdue got a 102 yd KR for a TD & ND missed a 44 yd FG. The Irish trailed 13-3 & drove 78 yards in 14 plays for a 1st & goal at the 2 but fumbled & Purdue drove 97 yards for a TD before the half, 20-3. Purdue faced a 3rd & 10 from its own 3 yd line but ended up with a 97 yd TD pass, the longest allowed in ND history. Purdue, on 3rd & goal from the 9, had their receiver bobble the ball & land OOB but it was somehow ruled a TD putting them ahead 34-10. The Irish were SOD at the Purdue 13 & 39 yd lines in the 4Q

FRONTDOOR COVERS

Surprisingly the Syracuse/Rutgers game had nearly 1,000 yards offense but the 1Q was scoreless & had just 5 FD’s. It was wild at the end as Rutgers scored a TD with 3:58 left to go up 31-27 & when Syracuse fumbled the ensuing KO at their own 21 half of the crowd left as it appeared hopeless for the Orangemen. Rutgers missed a FG with 3:27 left & Syracuse would go 75 yards in 5 plays for a TD with 2:24 left. Rutgers, on 3rd & 17, got a FD to midfield but it was called back on holding & they were pushed back to their own 4. After the Knights’ 4th down pass fell incomplete, Syr got the frontdoor cover with a Rhodes 4 yd TD run with 1:02 left...

Wisconsin RB Anthony Davis returned from an eye injury & rushed for 213 yards & the Badgers’ offense returned as they waxed Illinois 24-7. Illinois appeared to get the backdoor cover trailing 17-0 when they got a TD with 7:29 left. UW faced a 4th & 3 with 3:10 left in the game & Davis, on his 27th carry got a 31 yd run into the EZ for the TD & the cover. The Illini TD was set up after a fumble & was led by 3rd string QB Chris Pazan after their top two QB’s, Jon Beutjer & Bower, combined for 13 of 39 passing...

Louisiana-Lft got a 41 yd FG with :25 left vs. Florida Int’l to go-ahead 37-34. They then got the miracle cover on a 31 yd int return for a TD with :11 left, 43-34 (-7).

TURNOVERS WERE THE DIFFERENCE

At the half Alabama had a 176-117 yd edge vs. S Carolina but missed a 28 yd FG & trailed 6-3. In the 2H QB’s Gillion & Pennington combined for 4 int’s & SC got 20 & 8 yd drives for TD’s in a game closer than the 20-3 final would indicate...

TO’s were a key to Iowa St’s loss to Oklahoma St. In fact, OSU came in averaging 334 ypg rushing & ISU held them to 69 yards rushing in the 1H but 4 TO’s during the game including one that set up a 7 yd drive for a TD helped OSU lead 23-7. OSU’s final TD came on a 38 yd drive after yet another ISU TO...

TO’s were the story in the Miss St/Vanderbilt game. Vandy had only 330 yards offense vs. Miss St but capitalized on basically all 5 of the MSt TO’s. MSt led 7-3 early but could not overcome the TO’s which led to quick Vandy points...

Kentucky had 5 TO’s vs. Ohio including an int at the OU 2 & 4 plays later OU got an 89 yd TD pass, the 2nd longest pass in OU history. With 8:00 left UK went for it on 4th & 13 from its own 35 & was SOD & OU tacked on a TD in their 28-16 win.
