BJ, Hoops, Bobby, YYZ, DJV:
Good points. It is refreshing to hear people who question the mob mentality that appears to dominate this forum. I know that I have not agreed with your positions on some issues in the past and I assume you have not agreed with some, or maybe most of my positions either. But that fact alone makes it a pleasure to read your posts.
You five guys (and a smattering of others) represent five people who I would like to meet and buy you a drink. You represent individual thinking vs group conformity. You know, maybe its what I do for a living, but I feel very comfortable around people who are willing to look at all sides of an issue before blindly following the majority for fear of being different or out-of-line.
I consider people like you to be smart, thoughtful, and in reality, exhibit qualities reflecting the best of America. This country was founded on individuals (not corporate entities), freedom (wary of the King), liberty, justice, etc. Sometimes I wonder if we have forgotten (in keeping with the theme of this thread) who we are and what we stand for.
Its kinda funny about this Worley guy. Would any of us have even heard of him other than him trying to profit from 9-11. Sounds like someone else renting a home on Pennslyvannia Avenue. I still think those planes flying into those buildings on 9-11 guaranteed Bush two terms. Best thing that could have happened to him.
It appears that such event allowed Bush to do what he could do, that is, be the shoot em up cowboy (ie. bring em on) that he is. I don't know about you guys but he reminds me of the bully on the playground when I was a kid. He used his physical strength to shove other kids around. Invariably however, inside the classroom, he was seen in the back of the class picking his nose and spelling cat with a "k" (kinda like how I imagine Ctown to be).
But that is all Bush (and the bully on the playground) could do. The bully couldn't get the grades and with that frustration, had to use his muscles to show everybody who was boss. I don't know about you guys, but the bully from St. Paschal Baylon where I went to school never amounted to much and is probably sitting behind a Bud lite bottle somewhere, mad at the world.
That same guy is supporting Bush (blindly cause thats the only way he looks at things) considers it unpatriotic and treasonable if you do not think like him. Insecurity needs company. An insecure person needs others to make him feel secure. In my view, I have just defined the majority of this board.
Bobby, nice catch on fat and sassy's, shall we say, embellishment. Looks like your busted in a bit of a lie Fat one. As if you had any crediblity in the first place. In my view, thats what dominates around here. Dogs is especially known for this little trick. Sound bites that advance conceived themes and agendas are thrown about recklessly on this board like Scott from Atlanta. Generally, no one has the time to provide links dispelling the spin. Again, thanks Bobby for the effort.
This really illustrates my point. Guy posts factless comment, patriotic in nature, then is accepted by the bullies of this board as a truth which is then used to spin further lies. When busted on the point, becomes moving target, changes themes and makes up next lie. Remember, Bush said invade Iraq because Hussein did not disarm. Ooops. Alright, well he was a threat anyway cause he was working on wmd in the future. Well, Georgie, so is Lichtenstein. Maybe we oughta knock them off too. Busted on one lie, becomes moving target, creates another lie (future threat).
YYZ, you know every once in awhile these guys slip up with comments like "their kind". Being from Cincinnati and having watched the late, great Marge Schott verbally step in piles of shit on a weekly basis, its refreshing that her legacy is being kept alive by our very own MadJacksBigots. I mean I wish that those that use such phrases would just come out and have the courage to admit it like Marge did with the three million dollar nigger comment.
Hoops you illustrated this point as well. I believe that the majority of this board considers the fundamentalist muslims who hijacked those planes, the Iraqis and for that matter, anyone whose skin is brown are one and the same, that is, sand niggers. I think that the majority of this board would not mind if the entire middle east was nuked by our bully in DC and we took over the oil fields so that Dr. Freeze can buy gas for his 1979 El Dorado which is parked in front of his rented trailor.
Wilson. I don't blame Bush for 9-11. Based on the way this country has handled itself in the international arena, 9-11 would have happened sooner or later. You couldn't prevent it. Although I realize that it was all Clintons fault in addition to Pearl Harbor, the sinking of the Titanic and the current threat of the cicadas.
I do blame Bush for his reaction to 9-11. Why are we not concentrating our efforts to find the perpetrators of 9-11 and not being sidetracked by trying, desperately and tenously, to make connections between that event and Sadam Hussein? All of our efforts should be concentrated on finding Bin Laden, his network and other similar terrorists groups.
Fat and Sassy, I am personally offended at your attempt to profile me. It is a complete and total fabrication that I was in isolation. Seriously though, is this another little slip..... profiling. I don't know, maybe thats a stretch, but it seems to fit the need of some of you to pidgeonhole, catagorize and fit people into groups. Highly insecure.
In another thread, Dogs went on to post an attack on what he perceives my law practice to look like. Actually, I found it quite funny. For what its worth Dogs, I know the type of lawyer you are talking about (back of the yellow pages kinda guy) and I loathe him more than you and the general public do. You see, that type of lawyer gives you fodder for posts such as yours. I spend half of my time defending what I do from the misconceptions and stereotypes that you and the insurance industry portray as being the norm.
For what its worth, a little truth might want to be posted in reply to another, ad nauseum, post by Dogs against lawyers, you boys have your own bevy of doctors who are paid well into 6 figures a year to write reports after "independent" medical examinations that clients are either not injured or their injuries stem from some other cause than your insureds negligence. I got a drawer full of those reports. So please, stop with the unscrupulous lawyer stuff.
65 in another thread you asked what I am for as I appear to be against everything. Like Ms. Missouri, I'm for world peace, an end to world hunger and for cat and dog shelters. Seriously, I will cast a vote to the candidate who has the best chance of unseating Bush. Apparently Kerry since a vote for Nader equates to a vote for Bush since Nader cannot win.
You ask what is the alternative to living in this country. Canada. With all respect to our northern bretheren, I'm kidding. What bugs me the most is the people who are rah, rah, USA. The alternative is to change the wrong in this country. I think you are a strong Christian. Although I am not, I respect your views as many in my family seem to share them.
If I may assume further that you follow the Bible and believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Again, although I don't share those beliefs, I support them and am glad that you have found peace and a positive way of living through the Bible. My bible is the Constitution. I really believe in that document as a reading of it displays all that is good about mankind.
I'm afraid that we have gone away from my bible and that this current administration, instead of being strong, has caved into an expedient answer by enacting the Patriot Act. You know, I gotta stop falling into the Bush trap by calling it the "Patriot Act". I mean for the basic dolts on this board how can anyone be against the "Patriot Act". You see, I should call it what it really is. That is, "The Loss of Individual Rights Based on Threats which We Will Really Never Be Able to Prevent Anyway Act".
See being against the latter doesn't sound so bad. From your posts and our past jabbing at one another, I think you are a pretty decent guy. Believe it or not, so am I. Maybe because of what I do, I just see a steady erosion of rights which, I believe in the long run, will lead us away from my bible into the land of conformity and singular thought. Thats where I am and thats why I maybe somewhat vocal on these issues.
Well I gotta go to work. Again, to those who I disagree with, I respect your opinions as long as they are not formed based upon some psychological need to conform because your afraid (or incapable) of having an original thought. To those of you who are the bullies described above, get therapy.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
