Figured I'd turn to this forum to get some real opinions on electric razors...I've tried some in the past but they never seem to work on my beard, at least fully. I always have hairs that the razor just doesn't get. I have a pretty thick beard and the hairs don't stick straight out, they desperately want to go back under the skin, hence the annoying razor bump, in-grown hairs that I hate...I'm sick of shaving with my Mach III everyday and having my neck look like I was attacked by a squirrel...SO, I have decided that there must be some new technology out there in terms of electric razors that some madjackers have opinions on...all advice, input is appreciated...

I love my electric.

There is an adjustment period. It sucks for the first two months but it is worth the sdjustment.

You should know that you will never get a close (like a blade) shave. Electrics just can't get that close. The advantage comes when it takes 30 seconds to shave while your standing in front of the television, or making coffee.

I have a moderate to light beard and I generate a decent 5 O'clock shadow everyday. If I am going out I sometimes shave twice a day with my electric. I never had to shave twice with a blade but like I said they just dont cut that close.

I use a Norelco. I haven't used any other type but I've been very satisfied.

Well, did some research and the Braun 8585 Activator Self-Cleaning Shaving System appeared to be one of the top choices...anybody use this?

If you want, you can try the best of both worlds. The marketing company I work for is doing a cool promotion for the new Schick Titanium Trimmer. It's a razor and a trimmer combined. It's a nice middle ground between the two realms of shaving. If you sign up at http://www.trimflixx.com/, Schick will send you a free one. You also get to make a funny video in the process. Let me know what you think!

i had used that for about a year. not worth it and a pain in the ass changing the cleaning fluid regularly. also, during that year the chrome screen covering the blades broke 3 times. when that happens it looks like a pit bull got ahold of your face.

i have gone on and off regular and electric over the years and have been back to regular for about 3 years now and plan on staying here.
