Pro, 1 question, when you pull a network, you pull 2 hots 1 nuetral ? or seperate Nuetrals for all circuits ?

2 hots with 1 nuetral " Can " leave you with a chance to get " fryed " and who cares about being grounded , take a live nuetral in one hand and place the other nuetral in your other hand = bottom line its gonna hurt and a big chance for more damage to yourself.

Scott, bottom line its up and working for today and you have a guy coming out tomorrow.

Done with this for today , CYA

Above the Clouds....
WRONG for you right for ME

TRUST me i do this for a living

Your house electric panel works in phases, and you have 2 ( a phase , B phase ) ( Black wire , Red Wire ) however you want to call it

The nuetral wire ( white ) is " shared " between phases throughout your house. So if you turn off breaker #2 ( A phase, Black wire ), Breaker #4 ( B phase , Red Wire ) uses that nuetral.

With that being said breaker 2 off does not stop breaker 4 ( on ) from needing a Nuetral. Electricity needs a full path back to the panel.

So on an outlet with 4 wires attached to it, 2 " hots " to the top and 2" Nuetrals " to the bottom, if you were to unscrew those and NOT KEEP the Nuetrals connected the " Live breaker has no way back to panel to complete the path.

You accidentally touch those to = you become the path

Hope that HELPS

I see what you're saying.

NO- For starters a Network is 3 Phase (Black,Red,Blue,Neut,120V)(Brown,Orange,Yellow, Neut, 480V)
If it is a dedicated circuit or a heavy electronics use circuit producing 4th and 5th harmonics then separate Neuts are used..

If you have a Single phase parallel circuit as you do with your A leg, B Leg (not phases) and Neutral scenario you are not going to be "Inbetween" when you twist the wires together to pigtail as your "potential" is Less than the circuit..
I see what your saying but will not happen when pigtailing and why proper installation is necessary. It is against code to have a neutral separated on a device..

Homes are built w/ Sinlge Phase Panels , Buildings are built w/ 3 phase panels. I'll assume Scott lives in a HOUSE.

I am simple amazed you have done this for 25 years and not gotten hurt yet.

Whether it is a home, Commercial or Industrial means nothing. Only the Demands of the building prescribe the Electrical installation..Many large homes have 3 phase due to it's owners wants and needs..

It's obvious why I have never been Injured, Because I know what I am doing. ;)

You seem to be well versed in the dangers of Electricity....must have had Your Ass Cheeks Slammed a few times by Mr. EMF.... :D

Take care roping that mobile home tomm, don't want to lose a House Wranglin Madjacker

you got to admit , this was harder to crack than changing out that bulb for your car blinker light thingamjiggee by taking it to a Ford Certified Service Center.

Actually.......I doubt that it was. I can almost promise you that it took longer to fix my car than your wall.

Can't you just throw some cold water on it to cool the receptacle down?
