some people liked this so i'll keep it up.

for those that don't know, I eliminate games to narrow the field. These are my initial feelings and they haven't been fully handicapped yet. i am only looking at 2 things while making my eliminations.

atl/mets--going to have to take a look at this game. i know glavine hasn't been much but neither have the mets. and, how many times are you gonna get glavine and the braves for this price against a struggling team. will dig deeper into this one.

ari/col--eliminated-i try to bet COL only when they are home but they have dropped 5 in a row. i never bet a team on a losing streak, especially laying a big price. forget it. i'm not wasting my time on this one.

mil/cub--no initial thoughts, so will take a look at this one. will look for reasons to take MIL because i'm not laying -150+. digging deeper.

phi/fla--initial thoughts are 'flip a coin' but i'll look at the game. i have no clue what i'll find here. maybe an under? digging deeper.

mon/pit--going to handicap this one too, looking for a possible bet on MON. looks even on the surface and pit lost 3 in a row. "the streak is your friend"

cin/hou--eliminated--cin won 2 in a row and hou lost 3 in a row but i'm not betting reynolds at -165 and not betting against him at home, so not going to waste time capping this one either.

sf/stl--will look for a possible bet on sf. seems like stl is struggling again. sf or nothing.

sd/la--eliminated--la blew one for me last night....don't have a good feeling and certainly not laying 165. not wasting my time.

cws/bal--gonna have to take a look. no initial feeling.

tex/oak--same as the cws/o's game.

nyy/tb--eliminated--stay away. as far as you can.

tor/bos--damn! gonna have to look. having trouble eliminating. gonna be a lot of work to do today.

min/det--have to look again. hopefully weaver will be a good bet here. don't know yet.

cle/kc--eliminated--forget it. not bothering with this. not laying 165 on burba and can't play kc.

ana/sea--maybe a play on ana? have to look.

christ! i have 10 games to look at. i know this wasn't very helpful today. maybe i can find some good stuff when i look at these in detail. picks will be on my page starting around 12:30

good luck!

for what they're offering us to take Ariz. i was keen. and then i read the sportsline.com preview and was in. I can't see any problem with the D'Backs.

STANDINGS: Diamondbacks - 1st place, NL West. Rockies - 4th place, 9 GB, NL West.

DIAMONDBACKS PROBABLE STARTER: Robert Ellis (6-2, 4.59 ERA). The right-hander allowed an earned run and a season-low three hits over six innings last Saturday to winning his third straight as Arizona beat Detroit 3-1. Ellis had given up 10 earned runs in his previous 18 innings, spanning three starts. The 30-year-old is 1-0 lifetime against the Rockies with a 5.68 ERA after facing them for the first time in a 10-5 home win on April 21.

ROCKIES PROBABLE STARTER: Pedro Astacio (5-8, 5.63 ERA). Astacio is pitching on three days' rest after being torched in his last start for nine runs - seven earned - in 5 2-3 innings in Monday's 13-5 loss at Houston. Astacio has lost his last three starts and has given up seven or more runs in four of his last eight outings. The right-hander was brilliant in his only start against Arizona this season, throwing eight innings of two-hit ball with just one run allowed in a 2-1 win on April 22. He improved to 4-2 lifetime against the Diamondbacks with a 5.00 ERA.

OFFENSIVE LEADERS: Diamondbacks - Luis Gonzalez, .350 avg., 31 HRs, 72 RBIs and 66 runs; Tony Womack, 16 SBs. Rockies - Todd Helton, .336 avg., 25 HRs, 81 RBIs and 74 runs; Juan Pierre, 17 SBs.

SEASON SERIES: Diamondbacks, 5-3.

STREAKS AND NOTES: Diamondbacks - RHP Schilling had received a decision in 11 straight starts before Friday, going 9-2. His three no-decisions this season have come against Colorado. ... Diamondbacks pinch hitters were hitless in 17 at-bats before 1B Mark Grace's pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth inning. Rockies - Colorado stranded 11 base runners in Friday's 5-4 loss. ... The Rockies have at least one extra-base hit in 92 straight games.

ROAD/HOME RECORDS: Diamondbacks - 23-12 on the road. Rockies - 21-18 at home.
