Since this program overwhelmingly chose football over the welfare of children, they should be hit where it hurts the most. I don't think they deserve the death penalty but I do think, say, a 3 to 5 year program shutdown. They irreparably ruined at least 10 children's lives. That program should suffer because officials, top to bottom, were involved in the coverup. that would set their program back at least a decade and that's what they fucking deserve. Oh, your football is above kids getting raped? Okay, bye bye tO the thing they value the most.

How could a sane, non Penn st fan disagree with this action? An example should be made.

How can they not shut the program down? This is the PRESIDENT, the VP, the AD, and a man bigger than all 3 combined, complicit in a coverup that resulted in the rape of multiple victims that could have been prevented. Before, it was just the obvious without the evidence. Now with the evidence proving the coverup they should fry. I hope those pricks go to prison for lying to the grand jury.

Yes, moral obligation does cross over into the athletic realm. They deserve to be shut down. Too bad it will never happen.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/06/30/bernstein-paterno-legacy-destroyed/

Cliffs notes for those with add here.

?After giving it more thought and talking it over with Joe yesterday, I am uncomfortable with what we agreed were the next steps. I am having trouble with going to everyone, but the person involved.?

? Penn State AD Tim Curley, in an e-mail to school president Graham Spanier.

And with that, CNN?s devastating chronicle of the active shielding of child-rapist Jerry Sandusky, the legacy of Joe Paterno is forever sealed. The coach did not merely turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to violent acts against children, but made sure they continued. He was not the dutiful employee passing things up the chain of command, but the commander himself.

Those nominally outranking him ? Curley, Spanier and VP Gary Schultz ? were set to inform outside authorities that Jerry Sandusky was seen assaulting a boy in the football-office showers. A series of emails details the conversation agreeing on a plan to contact the Second Mile chairman, the Department of Welfare and Sandusky to describe the eyewitness account.

That didn?t happen, however, because Joe Paterno made the call: nobody say nuthin? to nobody.

The timeline is easy to follow, the story clear. If you wish to read every word of the emails yourself, you can: http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/30/justice/penn-state-emails/index.html

Marine, can't wait to hear from you buddy.

No big surprise here. Any sane reasonable person over 8 knows this already. Marine will put on his usual ridiculous spin and then we move on to something else.

Marine and (another guy who I won't name) was defending Paterno.

Wonder what they think now:shrug:

Again, I won't mention his name. See if he shows up in this thread.

ESPN showing it's true colors. Not a mention of the Penn St emails on the front page, it's hidden on the college fball page and even there it's buried five story lines deep. But, hey, xgames is going on!

I'll chime in with this... in that same article they talk about at least 5 or 6 different scenarios involving those emails. All of which are very different in who did what to who and when. We will likely never know the absolute truth due to the death of paterno and the folks that are left... will all simply point to paterno as the guily ringleader since he isn't around anymore. Is it sad to see? Yes. Is it damming, 100% accurate evidence to one particular story? no.

I pulled this from teh article:

Curley indicates he no longer wants to contact child welfare authorities just yet. He refers to a conversation the day before with Paterno. It's not known what Paterno may have said to Curley.

Like I said, we'll never know what the conversation was.

Marine, maybe it was actually his pet hamster who scurried across the keyboard and mashed those buttons to send the email!

We'll never know!
