Thinking about getting one for the family

Anyone have any experience with them....

I've seen from $2400.00 to $300.00 on-line.

I don't need royal bloodline,

My folks had one....grreat protectors of the family..bark and scare the sheet out of any intruder, then lick 'em to death :mj07:

Taking care of a 12 year old female, eats, sleeps, eats. sleeps....I get her moving, tossing toys...she wears me out.

Have a sis in KC, has 2 of 'em....grrrrRRREAT DOGS!

We had one. Great dog. Very unique. The laughs you get out of these dogs are well worth the money. Short life span. Had to put ours down at 7 years old. I cried like a baby.

Much better to rescue a dog from a kill shelter IMO.

Really hate to see people buying dogs from breeders when millions of GREAT dogs are put to death every year.

I would strongly advise against it unless you are prepared for SERIOUS medical bills that run in the thousands. They are genetically purebred, thus they have several innate defects - typically eye and skin issues. My friend ran up $7K in two months dealing with these issues. Super nice dogs, cute, etc...but unless you have the money to deal with the health issues that will inevitably arise, I would not advise it.

My nephew has one and she is a great dog and they paid about $1500.00 and frankly I love her to death. That said what I do not like is she sheds a lot and the vacuum has some issues picking up the hair and she farts A LOT.

I have always wanted one of these dogs. Everyone that has them says they love them.

I heard they throw up a lot. Is that true?

I was going to suggest that you meet with the owner 1st. If you find someone that will sell you a Bully w/o wanting to meet you they generally don't care about the welfare of the dogs and aren't breeding for the right reasons.

I would recommend that you take a look at the bulldog standard if you aren't familiar with how bulldogs are intended to look. Make sure their tails corkscrew out and their heads aren't too small etc.

I am the proud owner of Zeke on the puppies link I gave you above. He is now nearly 7 months old and I wouldn't trade him for anything.

A good breeder will make sure you're aware of the possible health problems associated with the breed. They will generally make you sign a waiver saying you understand the risk (see health and information contract in link). So far we've been lucky but my last bulldog cherry eye which was quite expensive to correct.

If the price seems really inexpensive, there is usually a reason why. Expect to pay $2200-$3000 for an English Bulldog. Well bred dogs don't come cheap.

If you have any specific questions, just ask. I will tell you that once you own a bulldog you won't want any other breed.

I've had 5 English Bulldogs. As a matter of fact, I've got one laying on my feet right now.

You can't get a better friend than one of these guys.

Never any serious medical bills with any of them. The only problem is she snores.

Best of luck.

Agree w/Agent here, got my last 3 dogs from shelter and they love u just the same even though without papers, but if u are like me u don't give a chit about papers.. I am a 2 dog household and always will be and appreciate all the shelters do for these animals.

Obvioulsy, I was very naive about the amount of scammers out there in the 'puppy' market. After researching for a couple of months and gettting past all the selllers from 'cameroon' who can't type a full sentence and want to sell a puppy for 600.00,

I have found a reputable seller, acutally close to Memphis.

After reading a book about bullies, I have decided on a male. I 've heard they look more 'bullish', are great companions, and overall 'LAID-BACK'--just like me!!:SIB :SIB

He is 7 weeks old and I am picking him up Wednesday at the Memphis airport. He is coming from Hungary. He was from a litter of 10...all 10 flying in....

35 champions from sire and dam..

Now to figure out a NAME...'spot' won't do...my brother suggested 'meatball':mj07: :mj07: that's pretty funny...

I am going to search his pedigree and after I see his personality will decide on a name....

what are some names MJers have named their bully...

family doesn't know...they are going to be EXCITED!!!! esp. the kids...now to PUPPY PROOF the house:nono: :nono: :(
