I recycle every piece of plastic, glass, paper and cardboard. We just started replacing eco-bulbs when a lightbulb blows.Heat is set at 68 when sleeping and away, 72 regularly. Power everything down- computers, printers, laptops and all lights when not in direct use. Hardly ever use the oven in summer and hang clothes outside to dry. We just started using our own nylon reusable bags. I was watching nbc today and they had an interesting show on paper or plastic. 1 billion plastic bags per year are made which equals 3 million barrels of oil. I can't remember how many trees were used for the paper bags but it was alot.
I get the kids into it by helping me take the recyclables to the receptacles. We even pick up
he stuff that is laying on the ground. We have 5 in our family and have had usually only 1 other bag besides the trash can and that is rare.
I think it is selfish and arrogrant not to do your part, but that is what it is to be American. Your choice wether right or wrong. I mean it takes what 20-30 minutes out of the whole week to do it. I wish they would make it mandatory. It just doesn't make any sense to me why not. I have been doing this for over 10 years and have seen the recyling pick up within the last couple of years. Where I take my stuff it gets full by mid week and went from 2 receptacles to 4 just recently and they are full by weeks end. Global warming can be argued until evreybody is blue in the face, but why not do something positive instead of sitting on your ass and do nothing.
just cover = trying to save this planet one recyclable at a time-I should write a comic book (on recyled paper of course) and use that line as my super hero.
