Bastages better run today!

This Saturday card is the best Sat. card I've seen since that first Sat. that they cancelled due to heat a few weeks back. Not so sure about it being a profitable day, but it sure has the best kind of racing this track has to offer - plenty of Philly regulars, very competitive/exciting races, plenty of entrees per race (mostly). Gonna be a lot of exciting races and plenty of surprises today methinks. Oh, and don't forget about them Philly style "bonus" payouts. :)

Some miscellaneous stuff before I post today's picks
Great to see some interest in the forum even if it is for the SPA. (Hmm, haven't seen that term for this track in awhile. Maybe I'm dating myself. LOL). No question, spending a few days up there where the eats are yummy, the weather is cool during the hot summer mos. there are some champions sprinkled throughout the card on almost every day of racing, and the environment is hard to beat (well, at least way back when I visited that beautiful track). Still can't measure up to Hialeah (in it's heyday) in the beautiful Fla. wintertime IMO though.

A co-worker took the family EVERY year (12 of them while I worked with him) to Toga for a week vacation. Now, that's living.. . could be kinda expensive, but still - that's livin.

Yeah, I made sure I got to visit that place when I lived in mid- N.J. Me a good racing buddy made the haul one Sat. afternoon. During the trip back, after the races, we agreed that making that ONE DAY trip in his cramped Volkswagen Beetle (no AC, of course) on a hot, hot summer day, without a :00011 to give us a way to pick a wiener for all them baby races.... well, ain't so much fun afterall. NEVA AGAIN.

I'll definitelly be busy at my kinda stompin grounds today, but IF I play anything (2 stinkin dollars MAX.) at Saratoga today they would be....

Race 4, no. 1 Papa Tom (10-1 M.L.) on the turf only . Prado ain't what he used to be but I think this 3 yr. old colt will relish the Toga Turf. The rail helps too.

Race 11, no. 11, My Sweet Candy (4-1) . Not sure if Cohen or Castellano is gonna be on this hoss, prefer Castellano, but either is OK. This filly looked good in her first trip over a N.Y. oval after making the cross country trip. Aimed for MSWs out in Cal;, reality check today should be enough to get this one going today.

Philly today :00hour

2nd Race: no. 2, Belushi
clearly looks best and NOT the fav. in the M.L. but I think theres a good chance this one may be favored by the time they are off. That weakens this play. Zacta facta nontheless, So/so play.

Race 3, no. 3, Certified Diamond is a VALUE play.

Race 4, (surprise, surprise - I ain't picking no. 4), no. 2, Jazz and Blues another VALUE play. This race has the makings for a decent exacta payout whether this pick (8-1) comes in or not.

Race 5,--> 2.8 top/bot w. 3,4,7. Tough, tough race, but I just cannot resist the races here today.

Race 6, Got no. 3, and 6 marked, but I gotta SEE them before I bet them. Oh, Hammy, you know the magic trifecta nos. to play, right? They should apply for this wace.

Race 8, no. 6, Barely Nothing.. Yeah, there's some tough customers in this race, but c'mon, Oddsmaker! Are you nuts making this hoss 6-1 M.L? I'll be on this one alright and it won't be for 2 stinkin dollars either.

Good Luck SPAing or PHILlin the moola bags today..

When I lived in upstate NY in the Catskills. I had season tickets for the SPA every Wed and Sat.

Always had a great time.

Hammy... was hoping you nailed the 2<-->6 exacta in the 8th. Elliot-Farro/"Barely", 2/6, what a combo for $83+. Oh yeaah I had that ticket alright, played that combo for double the other ones. That hoss ran his ass off the whole race, on the outside and STILL came back to nail the Place spot.

That "Barely Nothing" hoss is one of the bestest "pound for pound" runners at this track. If you watched that race - you'd know what I mean. If you checked it's pps, you'd really know why. I just hope they don't run that horse into the ground.

krc - Mrs. Boski is from Delhi and grew up on a farm up there. Her dad luved dem hosses and we would hit Vernon and Monti. Beautiful country up that way in early summer. It is a shame how the Catskills really died over the years.

Koz - thanks for the Kudos. Keep plugging away, fellow capper :)

Oh, by the way.. . in this last race at philly... 2 and 4 look like they may do some running in the upcoming 10th race. 4 mins. to post.

wrap up time

wrap up time

Dang favorite nailed my 4 (7-1) in deep stretch. SON-AH-Ma..

$2 stinkin dollars win/place on that one .. oh, AND on the no. 2 as well :(

Betting them right is what made the day today. In that 8th race, that no. 2 hoss, Jazzit, was tied with the no. 6 for top spot in my figures. No matter what figures the no. 6 hoss got .. I knew I hadda hit that hoss as soon as I saw it's name and them cwazy odds. Bet that one with 10s instead of singles. Luck DID come into play, cause I didn't wheel it (top/bottom, of course) in zacks, just put it with the 2,3,4,7, double that for the "magic" zackta nos.which came through. Put enough across the board so that, even if he finished 3rd I wouldn't be in the red after the race.

NOTE how the nos. 6 AND the 7, both came in for the tri. in that 8th race... .. keep an eye on that, Hammy. I've seen it happen enough times to add it to my wachorsin toolbox. The rule would go like this -"IF you like the no. 7 hoss AND you want to play trifectas... DO put the no. 6 in them tries". But, NEVA over use a tool. And the term "tool" can be taken many ways. :00x12

My heralded "VALUE" play?... . err.. a CERTIFIED $4 stinkin dollars to WIN, only. :s2: (no zactas or anythng else for that race)

Gotta go and see how I made out in the last race at Saratoga. I watched the 4th and Papa did lead for a long, long way. Ba, but I don't see his no. even in the Zuppas?

I'd followup on that one.

Am I gonna get hooked on Toga... .. NO, no. no way! :)

Keep posting them Toga hosses, Cappers and "value" tracks picks (koz). And keep showing some interest, MJers and Peepers (dust off them keyboards).

edited: I just saw that my hoss was scratched in the 11th. Oh well. 0 for 1 at Toga.

Thanks for all your hard work. I was happy to hit my Longshot 13-1 in the 11th at Toga. Missed the race so I'll have to watch the replay. Thanks again. -Koz

Great job, koz; nailing a 13-1 out of a bunch of babies ain't easy.

Consistently posting handicapped racecards for various tracks is what I call HARD WORK and if anybody around here deserves appreciation - it's you.

Be careful with those Saratoga babies cause there ain't much to go on with them. But if you found a way to figure them out, even at a low percentage of winners - you'll make a lot of moola at the Toga meet.

Good luck whatever track you're playing.
